The IDP Guru
Although there was some on-the-field regression from Smith last year, it was arguably his best fantasy season to date. With Leighton Vander Esch underperforming and battling through a serious neck injury, Jaylon was able to post LB1 numbers. Smith's ability to ascend to the next tier of fantasy linebackers will be dependent on how well LVE return's from injury. That aside, he should still be a fairly safe pick within the top 8 at his position. After failing to make the type of impact many expected his first handful of years in the league, Davis finally found a home with the Saints the past couple of years. He's a solid all-around player who has greatly benefited from the lack of competition among the linebacking crew in New Orleans. He should be good for another low 80 solo tackle season, 25-30 assists, and 3-4 sacks, making him a nice LB2+/LB1-.

The Fantasy First Down
Jaylon Smith has had consecutive top ten seasons lined up next to equally excellent but more injury-prone Leighton Vander Esch. Unlike many other top LBs, Smith's production is reliable and unlikely to be affected by regression making him one of the safest LBs in the top ten.Despite another top 12 fantasy finish, Demario Davis isn't the player he once was. Entering perhaps his last season with the Saints and at age 31, Davis will be as motivated as anyone to prove a point and he's a sneaky value that can be had lately in drafts than you'd expect from a player of his pedigree. While the overall quality of the Saints limits his upside, Davis's role gives him a safe floor while he's never missed a game in his eight year career.
