Draft Engine
Showing the ability at Oklahoma to consistently win by high-pointing passes, Lamb possesses strong hands and the explosive athleticism when attacking the ball. He has enough speed to play outside, where he's a big-play acrobat downfield. He'll need more polish to his route running before becoming a reliable fantasy receiver.A polished route runner who understands the nuances of how to leverage defensive backs, Jeudy is at his best on slants and in-breaking routes that allow him to get the ball in his hands before taking off. Because he's relatively slight at 190 pounds, he'll likely need a season with an NFL strength coach before he becomes productive enough to be an every-week fantasy starter.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
CeeDee Lamb is an absolute stud in a super-charged offense but he's also a rookie with a heap of competition. Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and Blake Jarwin may all start the season ahead of Lamb on touches but it is reasonable to expect Lamb to close in on 100 opportunities and if that happens, he'll be a borderline WR2 given his likely efficiency. That's far from guaranteed but given his upside, Lamb is a valuable target once the double digit rounds arrive.Jerry Jeudy was my favorite prospect entering the draft and he enters a backfield with a slot-shaped hole ready for him to fill it. The problem is the overall power of this offense, I just don't expect them to be very good. Even if things go well, the running backs will get a heap of touches, as will Courtland Sutton and Noah Fant, making it hard for Jeudy and his fellow rookies KJ Hamler and Albert O to make a big impact. I like Jeudy in PPR but he's unlikely to be much more than a flex option in his rookie season.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
When the Cowboys drafted Lamb at No. 17 overall, I wondered if he'd immediately take over Michael Gallup's No. 2 role in the offense, but cooler heads prevailed. Lamb is coming from the Big-12 where the defenses are pretty horrendous, so the learning curve might be bigger than some expect. On top of that, he's going to have zero game experience with no preseason. It seems very likely that Lamb will start out as a slot-heavy receiver, which should help his transition into the faster pace of the NFL, and it's a role that Randall Cobb saw 83 targets in last year. Keep in mind that was Cobb's first year in the offense, so we should see Lamb reach or exceed that number. But temper expectations in fantasy, as he's clearly the third option this year behind Cooper and Gallup. He's someone who belongs in the WR4/5 conversation. If either of Cooper or Gallup were to miss time, Lamb would be a WR3 start with upside for more.Over the last five years, I haven't scouted a wide receiver who was more pro-ready and well-rounded than Jeudy. With essentially no offseason, it's going to be difficult for him to walk in and develop instant chemistry with Drew Lock. At the same time, everyone on the team is learning a new offense, as Pat Shurmur has walked in as the offensive coordinator. Still, it'll be hard for him to overtake Courtland Sutton as the team's leader in targets. Jeudy can play many roles, including being the deep threat down the field, playing the possession-style role, or moving into the slot, which he did regularly at Alabama. Sutton isn't someone who'll move into the slot very often, which is a good thing for Jeudy, as Shurmur's slot receivers have done damage in the past. Again, the negative is that fellow rookie KJ Hamler is also a slot presence who's going to get some playing time. There's a path to Jeudy being a Terry McLaurin-like fantasy option this year, but his path to targets is not as easy. If Sutton stays on the field, Jeudy will be too inconsistent to trust on a weekly basis. He's still not a bad on to have on your bench as a WR4/5, because the talent is there.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
I believe Lamb was the most talented WR in this year's NFL draft but unfortunately for him, he got drafted to a team with two very good wideouts. That being said, there will be enough targets for Lamb to be fantasy relevant, but you won't want to have to trust on him weekly.Jeidy finds himself in a nice spot in Denver where he won't be forced into a WR1 role from day one. With Courtland Sutton demanding most of the attention, Jeudy should be able to work underneath well and he's dangerous with the ball in his hands making him a threat to score on any given play. My only concern is due to COVID and the cancellation of the preseason which may cause Jeudy to start slow but don't expect that to last for too long, this guy's the real deal.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
My main concern with CeeDee Lamb coming into the draft was that he didn't see much press coverage in the Big-12, he didn't show great proficiencies when he did face press coverage, and he's not as polished of a route-runner as some of the other guys in this class. Lamb landing in Dallas alleviates all of those concerns because I believe he's going to play in the slot for this offense. Slot receivers are aligned off the line of scrimmage, which prevents them from seeing press coverage. Lamb's going to be a target hog in this offense and he's in a great situation to succeed.Jeudy is a phenomenal WR prospect, but he didn't exactly land in the best offense for immediate fantasy football production. Jeudy should be a fringe WR4/WR5 this upcoming season, but could see increased work if Courtland Sutton were to miss time for some reason.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Targets aren't simply redistributed when players leave. With that said.. 166 targets have left, and even if the Cowboys decide to use Jarwin more, he's not going to take up the entire 120 target TE pie that was happening last year. Lamb comes in to replace Cobb, who just had a 55/828/3 season. He can be able to make an immediate impact while seeing subpar coverage, the same reason he might be inconsistent though, a lot of mouths to feed. Not worried about Jarwin thoughThe offense can grow with Lock at the helm but none of the QBs paced above the bottom third in the league for ATT. Hard to project a huge step for Lock, while also expecting Jeudy to immediately come in and be productive in a low volume passing game. Sanders barely paced as a flex option while he was around last year. If they show they'd like to pass more in 2020 I'll come back to it. Bringing in Gordon doesn't scream that to me though.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Lamb has a chance to be an impact rookie with big-play ability operating both out of the slot and outside. He is a WR3 with upside playing with QB Dak Prescott.
