FantasyPros
Mixon had 1,464 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdowns in 2018. He should thrive in Zac Taylor's scheme that is very running back friendly. .Allen had 97 receptions for 1,196 yards and 6 touchdowns last year. He is a solid WR2 on an offense that no longer relies on him as much as they did in years past in the passing game.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
You have to love watching Marvin Lewis walk out the door if you're Mixon, as he was severely underused as a receiver in Lewis' offense. In comes Zac Taylor, who said he's going to start the Bengals' playbook with the Rams offense, which is where he came from as a quarterbacks coach for Sean McVay. Them drafting two running backs is somewhat concerning, but that could be to protect them in case of a Mixon injury, which has happened a few times in his short careerWith Tyrell Williams taking off to the Raiders, will Allen play on the perimeter much more, or do those targets go to Travis Benjamin? My guess is that he stays in the same role, though he might have a few more targets come his way. Throughout his time in the league, Allen has been a bit more up-and-down than fantasy owners would like, but his potential increase in targets could even that out. He's a fine low-end WR1 if you go RB-heavy in the first two rounds
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Mixon is an elite talent and maybe with Green nicked up the Bengals run more. I don't know why more people aren't salivating over this kid behind in a system similar to the one that made Todd Gurley a god.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Were it not for the Bengals' best offensive lineman retiring and their first round rookie going on injured reserve, Mixon would be in consideration for a first round pick but with those big blows, his stock drops him down to a fringe RB1/RB2. He is extremely talented without question and may even be able to handle a huge workload but it won't matter if the offense can't support a running back.Allen continues to produce big numbers every time he is on the field. This year may be a different story, though, as Mike Williams is expected to take a major step forward and Hunter Henry is returning. As long as Allen's preseason injury doesn't last into the season, he should still lead this team in receptions and yards but he isn't exactly a second-tier fantasy weapon anymore.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Mixon's talent is undeniable, as he showed last year with his breakout season during which he averaged 20 touches and over 100 yards per game. Although he should (and will) be drafted as an RB1, his upside his capped some by two main issues. The first is the Bengals' offensive line, which is already dealing with significant holes. The second is the presence of Gio Bernard and Mixon's lack of significant involvement in the passing game. But his floor remains high, and fantasy owners should have no hesitations about drafting him as the top back on their team.Allen has been incredibly consistent over the last two seasons, with 102 catches in 2017 and 97 last year. He's got an excellent connection with Philip Rivers, and should once again be in line for a borderline WR1 season in all formats. The only remote reason for concern is the return of Hunter Henry and the evolution of Mike Williams, but Allen should get his. The ankle injury that should keep him out this preseason should not threaten his availability for the opener, so don't shy away from him on draft day.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Became a true game-breaker in '18, with a hefty 10.5% of his 237 carries going for 14+ yards - has room to make greater strides in the passing game after catching 43 passesBucking the injury-prone label with back-to-back injury-free top 12 fantasy finishes at WR
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Mixon is a late round second pick going late first. He has a bad offensive line again, he had three games over 100 rushing yards despite having the 8th most carries of all RBs. He had three games with 5 or more receptions, and 8 weeks of 27 or less receiving yards. He is being overdrafted.Keenan Allen is only 27 years old. Keenan Allen has over 1000 yards in 3 of 4 seasons in which he was healthy. Keenan Allen was on pace to put 1450/8 the year he missed half the season. Keenan Allen is perpetually one of the most consistent fantasy players in the league and is averaging 100 catches per season over the last two seasons. This man is an absolute lock for 95/1100/5 and that would be disappointing. No more Tyrell Williams which may open more of a deeper route tree for KA, his Y/R dropped by a yard and a half from 17-18, Hunter Henry is back so defenses will have a legitimate threat in the middle of the field to help KA with more single coverage matchups and more space to operate. Everyone is on Mike Williams to explode, what about Keenan Allen just doing exactly what he's done for years, with a slight uptick. He can go 110/1400/8 if all goes well. Sign me up.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
An inefficient runner on a team with a bad offensive line. The Bengals best O-Lineman last season, Clint Boling, retired and then the Bengals recognized their needs and drafted Jonah Williams. Unfortunately, Williams tore his labrum. The Bengals also drafted Trayveon Williams and Rodney Anderson and still have Gio Bernard. His volume will make him a back-end RB1/high-end RB2, but he is just being drafted too high.Allen played three games last season without Melvin Gordon and his numbers increased across the board: - Target share jumped from 28% to 34% - Receptions went from 6 to 8 per game - PPR PPG: 16 - 22 And the thing is, his numbers with MelGo are still very good. Allen is a player with a set role that is going to put up solid fantasy numbers. He's being undervalued in drafts.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Everything was looking up for Joe Mixon's fantasy stock in 2019 until the Bengals lost LT Jonah Williams for the season. Now, Mixon will be reliant upon rookie Head Coach Zac Taylor to scheme open running lanes and involvement in the passing game. Mixon's one of the true workhorse backs in the NFL and he should still contribute in a big way this season, even if his ceiling is slightly less with Williams going down for the year.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Mixon enters his third season as a pro at the age of 23. He posted a 93rd percentile height adjusted speed score, a 77th percentile SPARQ-x score, a 90th percentile college YPC and an 81st percentile college target market share. Mixon is an elite athlete, and he finally looks poised to take over bell cow duties in this backfield. He should improve upon his 237/1168/9 stat line from last season, as there's no legitimate competition behind him, and he projects to be amongst the league leaders in opportunity share. The Bengals ran the third fewest plays per game last season, and their offense should improve from just 23 points per game last season. A full 16 weeks from Mixon will make him a first round pick in 2020.Over the past two seasons Allen has averaged 100 receptions for a little under 1,300 yards and 6 TD's. Once considered injury prone by the public, Allen has put together back to back healthy seasons, and has done so has a target hog in the offense. The return of Hunter Henry will impact his TD upside, but his targets should remain the same, since Tyrell left in FA. His early third round ADP is extremely fair, as my projections have him finishing the season as a low end WR 1. I don't see a path for him finishing in the top 3...but I also don't see a path to him busting aside from a freak injury. Allen is a guy I would draft, but not one I'd ever reach on.
