After finishing tied for third among NFL players in receiving touchdowns while leading the league with an average of 18.0 yards per reception in 2017, Jones was limited by a knee injury to nine games in 2018. With Darrell Bevell replacing Jim Bob Cooter as the Lions' offensive coordinator, Jones finished '19 tied for fourth in TD receptions despite missing the season's final three games.Brown set career-high marks in targets, receptions and yards in his first season with the Bills in 2019. With Buffalo having acquired Stefon Diggs from Minnesota in a March trade, Brown is unlikely to replicate those numbers in 2020 for a team that's built to win with defense and controlling the football. He also catches passes from a quarterback who isn't particularly accurate.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Marvin Jones remains amazing value as the Lions WR2 is available in the 9th round of drafts despite showing massive upside with Matthew Stafford fit. While injuries will remain an issue for the aging WR, he has little competition for the job and is a lot closer to Golladay in opportunity than most realize.John Brown had an impressive career resurgence in 2019, exploding to 1000 yards and 6 TDs with 37% of the team's air yards as the Bills RB1. With Stefon Diggs now in town, we can expect some more freedom for Brown but also a lot of very quiet games. He'll be difficult to start with any certainty and is a boom/bust option better suited to Best Ball.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
When doing the "Boom, Bust, and Everything In Between" series, I can't help but notice how undervalued Jones is nearly every season. The "bust" score is anything less than 8.0 PPR points. Jones busted just 23.1 percent in 2019, the 22nd lowest mark among wide receivers. He was at just 22.2 percent in 2018, the 25th lowest mark. And lastly, he was at just 18.8 percent in 2017, the ninth-lowest mark. Meanwhile, he'll give you big games here and there while not completely tanking your team. If you want to wait at wide receiver in your draft and play him as your WR3, it's not that bad.The addition of Stefon Diggs likely crushed the appeal that Brown had in fantasy football. The Bills gave up a first, fourth, fifth, and sixth-round pick for Diggs (and a seventh rounder). That's a lot. The fact that there will be no preseason certainly helps Brown, as he has experience and chemistry with Josh Allen, as well as knowing the offense. Here's the crazy part about Brown last year: He hit WR3 or better numbers in 73.3 percent of his games, which ranked 11th in the league. He only hit WR2 or better numbers in 26.7 percent of his games, which ranked 51st in the league. Now start removing targets to get Diggs his, and we suddenly lose some of that WR3 floor that he had. He is a good football player who just won't get enough targets to start on a consistent basis. Now, if Diggs were to miss any time, we could go back to playing him as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3. Until then, Brown is in the WR4 range for me.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Year after year Jones continues to stay fantasy relevant but yet still never feels like a safe pick. He has been a boom or bust type player at times which is not something you necessarily love in terms of fantasy. He's a solid bench stash and in the right matchup he could go off, just don't expect it every week.Brown had a solid 2019 season eclipsing 1,000 yards but was unlucky in the TD department finishing with only six. Now, the Bills have added Stefon Diggs to the receiving room which doesn't bode well for Brown. Both Brown and Diggs make their money on the deep ball and there are only so many of those targets to go around. I don't see him being consistent enough to be trusted as a weekly starter but he's still worth a roster spot.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Jones is the poster boy for being undervalued in fantasy circles. If you look at his last 16 games, Jones has 78 catches for 1,017 yards and 11 touchdowns, comparable numbers to Kenny Golladay who is valued as a WR1. He also has the potential to be an impact fantasy player if Golladay were to get injured. Even if not, Jones's steady numbers are worthy of starting as a WR3, and he's the type of boring player who doesn't excite you during draft day, but who ultimately is an integral part of winning rosters.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Brown was 22nd in WR targets last season, was 31st in true target value (brotofantasy.com), and finished 20th in FPPG. He over-performed last season and may see less work with Diggs in town. With that said, this risk is currently baked into his ADP.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Jones finished last season as a top-30 WR and he's currently being drafted as the WR39 in ADP Consensus. Jones is a solid candidate to outperform his ADP this season and he's super cheap in drafts right now. He's someone who would be a perfect WR3/FLEX option for your fantasy football roster.Brown was fantastic last season, but he's going to see a bit of regression this year with the addition of Stefon Diggs to the offense. Diggs is going to command targets, which limits Brown's overall ceiling. He's nothing more than a WR3/FLEX option this season that has the potential to win you a week with one or two big plays.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Was a Top-10 WR during Stafford and Driskell, with 9+ TDs in 3 straight years. Perennially disrespected. Is about to EAT number two corners with Diggs drawing away premium defensive attention, even if the volume takes a slight hit
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Hasn't been able to stay healthy the last 2 years but all he does is put up a 60/900/5 season every year he's healthy. A low upside flex play. Can be a perfectly fine fill in as your NFL team's WR1 but it isn't the roll he's best suited for. Even filling that roll this year he wasn't a clear target hog. Will most likely get pushed to second fiddle when the draft comes along but I think that effects his perceived fantasy value more than his actual worth. Can still get around 100 targets and be flexy.
