Looking at what Arthur Smith did in Tennessee with Derrick Henry, it would be safe to assume that he wants to build the same type of offense here in Atlanta, right? If that is the case, then Davis is going to step right into the Henry role, yes? Unfortunately, there is only one Henry and Davis certainly isn't him. There's an incredible opportunity for Davis to be a solid RB2 for fantasy purposes this season, but the question revolves around how long he can withstand an increased workload? As the season progressed last year, we saw Davis wear down as he took on the lead role in CMC's absence and there's a strong possibility that that happens again in 2021. Davis might come out of the gates on fire in 2021, but could wear down as the season moves along. If you do draft Davis at his current ADP, snagging a RB like Michael Carter is a smart strategy. We could see the aforementioned rookie RB's usage ramp up as the season goes along while Davis' tails off. That's right, folks! It's Jonnu time yet again! After hyping up Smith all last off-season, it's time to hop back on the Hype Train and talk about Jonnu's potential for fantasy yet again. Once Smith signed with the New England Patriots for a massive deal in free agency, it seemed like the hopes of Smith finishing as a top-5 option at the TE position were all but locked in. Unfortunately, Hunter Henry's signing a day later put a damper on those dreams, but we still shouldn't be scared off of Smith and his potential in this offense. With a revamped - but honestly still lackluster - WR corps, there's a strong possibility that Smith leads this entire team in targets. The Patriots will be committed to getting him the ball in creative ways near the line of scrimmage and letting him create after the catch, which he does better than nearly every other TE in the league. Smith finishing as a top-5 option at the position now that the passing volume has increased with Mac Jones under center isn't out of the realm of possibilities. His ADP is laughably low right now, so take advantage and draft him every single chance you can get.

Won the job security lottery with ATL, though it's been disconcerting to hear many of those covering the team don't think he'll exceed 10-12 carries per game

UPDATE- The Falcons o-line looks awful- at least with run blocking. The loss of C Alex Mack could be part of the reason. I'm moving Davis down a few spots. Eh, I'm not really comfortable with this ranking. This could go off the rails quick. Here's what I'm thinking, if the Falcons keep things the way they are Davis could do well. They'll be trailing, so the game script isn't good, but Kyle Pitts will draw plenty of pass interference penalties. That should set Atlanta up on the one yard line for some one yard TD runs. If they use Davis as a three down RB- he'll outperform his draft day price tag (6th round).......but that's a big if. Also, keep in mind Davis has been a lifetime backup. I could see them signing a RB who gets cut from another team just to spite me.The last time the Patriots had two really good TE's was when Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez were playing together at Gillette Stadium. They're hoping the additions of Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry add similar juice to a team in desperate need of some playmakers. Smith is not known as a blocker, but after Taylor Lewan torn his ACL last year, the Titans kept Smith in to help with pass protection. The Patriots line is solid. That should open up more opportunities for Smith to pad his stats. He's known for his speed and run after catch ability. Coach Belichick said he's probably the best in the league after the catch. Those are strong words. The Patriots are paying him $50 million over 4 years. Ya think they want to throw him the ball some? If Mac Jones can be decent, Smith should easily outperform his price on draft day and could crack the Top 10.

Smith is a jack-of-all-trades for the tight end position who can block, run, and is a good receiver while lining up all over the field, including tailback. Since 2010, Smith ranks second at the position in yards after catch per reception (7.1), trailing just George Kittle (7.8). He has never topped 50 catches or 500 receiving yards in a single season, but 2021 sets up for the best situation of his young career. Smith dealt with ankle and quad injuries from midseason on last year, which slowed a fast start to his year.

Mike D shocked the fantasy world last season, finishing as the RB15 thanks to heavy usage in the passing game. After Christian McCaffrey went down with multiple injuries, Mike D rolled for his first 1,000-scrimmage-yard season, 8 total scores, and 59 receptions (4th most in the NFL). He's got no competition for backfield touches, and he should be relied on as a steady contributor in the passing game once again. I like him as a back-end RB2.Smith surged in the opening weeks of 2020, and it looked like he was on his way to an historically productive campaign. Alas, his production waned as the season wore on, but Smith still posted his first top-10 season in large part due to nine total touchdowns scored. New England paid the man handsomely in the offseason, and the receiving options - though better than 2020 - are far from elite. Smith can certainly carve a significant role out in this offense and provide top-10 numbers once again.

Somehow remained ATLs top RB following the draft, and no veteran competition has been added. Davis could see 280+ touches in a highly-efficient Arthur Smith run-game. An ideal RB candidate to break through the "RB Dead Zone."Could Hunter Henry's injury open up the door for Jonnu to pull away as the clear TE1?

My guess is that analysts are worried about the Falcons adding a free agent running back because even my RB24 ranking feels a bit low for a back who should have no issue getting 15-plus touches per game. That would amount to 240-plus touches on the season. There have been 144 running backs who've hit that mark over the last 10 years and none have finished worse than RB28 (his current ECR). In fact, just 10 of those running backs (6.9 percent) have finished worse than RB20. If the Falcons don't add anyone of significance, I'll be moving him up even more.Smith's talent was not put on display nearly enough with the Titans, as he never saw more than 65 targets in a single season. Despite that, he finished as a top-12 tight end in 2020. The Patriots were aggressive with him, signing him the first day of free agency to a four-year, $50 million deal, which tells us all we need to know: They aren't going to hide him. The signing of Hunter Henry hurt his projection a bit, but the drafting of Mac Jones improved it a bit because once he takes over as the starter, this team will throw a lot more. Once you get outside the top five tight ends, you're chasing upside, and Smith has plenty of it.

Trying to figure out exactly what the Patriots are going to do with both Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry is nearly impossible, but let's try. Smith is coming off a strong year with the Titans scoring eight TDs which was 4th most amongst all TEs. I expect somewhat of an even split between Smith and Henry, but if given the option, I'd lean towards Henry.

Davis scares me because most mid-career breakouts don't pan out in Year N+1. Davis is a special case because he changed teams, but the point remains that sustained success is rare. @JackMiller02 Davis is a case where projections can get you in trouble. 2020 Stat Line (with the Carolina Panthers): 12 games started, 165 Attempts, 642 Yards, 3.9 Average, 6 Touchdowns, 59 Receptions, 373 Yards Receiving, 2 Receiving Touchdowns. Tough to NOT project him for big volume right now. But he's probably not as safe a bet to actually get that volume as it appears right now. @SmolaDS

Davis is going to be the starter in Atlanta, but they had one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL and their offensive line needs work. Davis is a flex option on a team that will be throwing the ball a lot this year.Smith will be a nice addition to the New England offense, but he is going to have a hard time being a TE1 competing with Hunter Henry for tight end targets and playing with either Cam Newton or Mac Jones. Smith is more of a TE2 in fantasy.

Mike Davis aka "The Quad-Father" impressed in his role as CMC's back up turned starter in 2020. Davis now has a chance with the Falcons to be the undisputed leader of the backfield with very little competition. Exactly how lucrative that role will be in fantasy terms is undetermined. Arthur Smith certainly liked to run the football in Tennessee, but NO ONE is Derrick Henry. Still, Davis as a third RB is a good value in 2021 based on the offense and his situation.
