Talent and role could have Gordon be a top-10 freak. But who can possibly trust this kid?
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There are not nearly as many familiar faces for Tom Brady to look at nowadays, but Edelman remains his favorite target. With Rob Gronkowski ailing last year, Edelman stepped up and finished as a WR2 or better in 75 percent of his games, a new career-high. With Gronkowski and Chris Hogan gone, Edelman's role isn't going to shrink in 2019. He's a sturdy WR2 presenceHe's back... The NFL decided that the few games he missed at the end of last season was enough of a suspension, and that Gordon will be active Week 1. With the lack of receiving options in New England, Gordon is likely to walk into a 6-8 target role, giving him low-end WR2/high-end WR3 probability, though we all know he can disappear at any minute, adding plenty of risk to selecting him in that range.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
In Half-PPR formats, he delivered 12+ FAN PTS in 10 of 12 games - He was WR14 in FAN PPG, a level he should be able to sustain in a now Gronk-less offenseHis per game production in NE last season was backend WR2 worthy - with no learning curve this time around, he could be even better so long as he can stave off mental demons
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Edelman was outstanding last year after returning from suspension, playing as a strong WR1 in PPR formats. He's getting up there in age but with Rob Gronkowski gone and incredible chemistry with Tom Brady, there shouldn't be many concerns. Josh Gordon's return takes a minor bit of shine off Edelman, but in any format where you are awarded anything for receptions, he will likely put up WR1 numbers.Gordon has been reinstated and is obviously in a great situation in a Rob Gronkowski-less Patriots offense. If we knew he'd be on the field the whole season, he'd likely be a WR2, as he now knows the New England system and has as much raw talent as anyone. With the question marks, however, Gordon is just a borderline WR3, although he has more upside than anyone going in his range.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Josh Gordon: "We are all rooting for Josh to succeed, both personally and professionally. Everyone shares in that hope and will continue to support him to every extent possible. But as Josh acknowledged, ultimately his success is up to him." Gordon's three games played last year without Gronk... 4-100 on 7 targets, 5-130-1 on 9 targets, 4-81 on 12 targets @LordReebs Josh Gordon's 16 game pace with Tom Brady was 98 targets, 1,047 yards, 4.3 touchdowns. His 2018 PPR PPG (11.56) ranks as WR35. His 1.89 Points Per Opportunity would rank 2nd of all qualifying wide receivers behind only Tyler Lockett (1.99). @JetPackGalileo

Fantasy Football Advice
Since becoming a full-time starter in 2013, Edelman has averaged 2.5 more targets, 1.25 more receptions and 15 more yards per game without gronk in the lineup. His stats sans Gronk, regressed over a full season, comes out to 181 targets / 116.8 receptions / 1,289 yards / 4.8 TD's. That stat line would have finished 10th last season. Edelman has the 13th highest projection according to my model and his projection is extremely reasonable. The biggest risk with Edelman is with his health. He's really struggled to stay healthy over his career and he's got one of the highest projections for games missed due to injury this season. Fortunately, that's the only risk he carries. He's going to produce every game he plays, and he very rarely has down games. Since 2015 he has just three total games with less than 6 targets. In those games, his stat lines were, 4/84/1, 4/53/0, 4/120/1. Edelman is coming off the board as the WR 15 in the 4th round. The only way he doesn't finish as a value is if he gets hurt, and even then, he'll still get there on a per game level, So if he's hurt for 4 weeks, then just slide in one of the million under valued receivers going late in drafts. You won't be taking a 0 for the games he misses. There have been 2 WR's ever to have over 2,400 receiving yards before their age 23 season while averaging 17+ YPR…Randy Moss and Josh Gordon. Gordon has averaged 74 receiving yards per game over his career, including 40/720/3 in his 11 games with the Pats last season. Brady also averaged 11.3 yards per attempt when targeting Gordon last season. That has his most yards per attempt when targeting any play in his career. Gordon was PFF's 17th rated WR in games he played for the Pats last season, posting a higher WR grade than his teammate Julian Edelman. Gordon showed he's still an elite WR…gaining 90 yards or a TD in half of his games. Including 70 or a TD in 2/3rds of his games, while maintaining 18 yards per reception...second to only DeSean Jackson last season. Gordon's season pace with the Pats was 58/1,047/4.4. That's not going to win leagues…but it's on pace to finish as a WR 2. Also, that's after being traded and coming off injury. He's been working out with Brady, and there's a job opening at outside WR. The risk is obvious…but Flash has finally been reinstated. There are a few more hurdles he needs to overcome, but he's going to be the starting WR for the New England Patriots in week 1. GET PUMPED.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Those expecting Edelman to outperform his ADP might be in for a surprise as he has never finished higher than WR19 in fantasy. Part of this has to do with his inability to stay on the field and at 33 years old, reversing that tendency may prove a difficult task. He comes with reliability while healthy but perhaps with a price tag too steep. Now that Gordon has been reinstated, he jumps up into WR2 territory. There is, of course, risk that he doesn't stay on the field, but do remember that he was on pace for over 1,200 yards in the 8 games he played at least half the Patriots' snaps last season. If not for resuspension risk, he'd be a fringe WR1 like T.Y. Hilton.
KJ
Fantasy Team Advice
Conditionally reinstated by the NFL. Has the talent to be a league winner but have to bake in his off the field issues (pun intended)
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Despite the age, Julian Edelman is lined up for what could be a career year. He was on pace to eclipse 150 targets last season if he were to play in all 16 games, and that was with Josh Gordon for some time and Gronk for some time. The Pats did not make any real splashes to boost their position players this offseason, so it is going to be all Julian Edelman again for the wideouts.
Sean Koerner
The Action Network

Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Edelman had 74 receptions for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns in 12 games last year. He sees a ton of short passes and he should maintain WR3 value this year.
