FantasyPros
Michel had a breakout postseason and that could carry over to a strong 2019 season. He does have some knee issues, but he should still be a solid RB3 with RB2 upside in 2019.Jacobs was in a RBBC at Alabama and he had only 120 caries last year, but he is a very talented back that should earn the lead role in Oakland. He is a high-end RB3 with upside if he can handle a starting running back role in the NFL.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It was a solid rookie year for Michel, who finished as the RB28 despite missing three full games. The issue with expecting a massive jump in production is his lack of usage in the passing game (just seven receptions in 13 games), and the third-round draft pick of Damien Harris, as he's a threat to steal some early-down work. Still, Michel should provide RB2 value as long as he's healthyAny time you have a running back drafted inside the first round of the NFL Draft, you'd better consider him in fantasy football. Why? Over the last six years, first-round running backs have averaged 283.4 touches in their rookie season. While the Raiders aren't likely to be a high-scoring offense, they should be improved significantly with the talent they've added on offense. Jacobs should be a low-end RB2, at worst
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Admittedly, there's some fear of his balky knee, and a little usage uncertainty with Belichick's history of pulling the backfield strings, but his preseason's been strong and the backfield is lucrative (NE top 6 in RB half-PPR FAN PTS each of past 4 seasons)There is a massive opportunity share awaiting Jacobs in this OAK offense, both on the ground and through the air
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Michel was great last year, but he's had some health questions and New England has approximately one thousand running backs. He should be higher, but I can't do it.If Jacobs is going to win the starting job, he's firmly on my radar as a high upside RB2
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Michel dealt with a preseason knee injury that bothered him some during the season, but he came on during the fantasy (and real-life) playoffs, showing his upside. When the Patriots spent a third-round pick on Damien Harris, fantasy owners got worried, but Harris reportedly has not gotten many reps this summer. The backfield in New England is still crowded with James White and Rex Burkhead, but with no Rob Gronkowksi, the Patriots are likely to lean on the run a bit more. That makes Michel an RB2, though one that is better in standard formats. The Raiders used a first-round pick on Jacobs, so he should see a prominent role in the offense, particularly with Isaiah Crowell suffering a torn Achilles. Jacobs never had a huge workload in college, so it's unclear whether the Raiders intend to use him as a bell-cow back, especially with the re-signing of Doug Martin. Regardless, Jon Gruden's system works well for running backs, and Jacobs' pass-catching ability should give him a high floor each week. He should make a solid RB2 in all formats.

Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Check out my article on BRotofantasy.com regarding Michel's inflated ADP. He was very much a game script RB with no passing game involvement last season and there is nothing that says that will not remain the same this season. He also has degenerative knee issues and has never played even half the offensive snaps in a game.Has been told that he will be the workhorse, which makes him an appealing pick, but the Raiders offense line looks to be in bad shape. Riskier than he may seem on the surface.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
The upside - In a dreadful offense last season, Marshawn Lynch, Doug Martin, Jalen Richard, and Deandre Washington ran for 1473 yards and 8 TDs. The downside - Richard is still on the team and had 68 catches for 607 yards last season. The Antonio Brown saga is also one to monitor, as having Antonio Brown on the field will obviously benefit the young RB.
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
chronic knee issues mean he could miss games. Damien Harris puts pressure on him. not ideal in any sort of PPR. he's more valuable in Best Ball as he will consolidate his value into several games he goes off
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Sony has plummeted down draft boards with the drafting of Damien Harris and multiple reports about concerns revolving Michel's knee. These are both scary for fantasy owners, but the price has now dropped low enough that you can afford to take a risk on someone with legitimate top 10 running back upside in this great Patriots' offense. With what seems to be no competition for the job, most anticipate Jacobs to have a huge workload. That may be the case, but we never saw him handle those type of touches or anything close in college, and Jalen Richard likely isn't going away in the passing game. While Jacobs is a safe bet for RB2 production, it might be wise to temper expectations in this offense.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Honestly, I can't justify drafting Sony this season. Not only did the Patriots draft another RB early this season, but his knee is a concern. He's suffered a torn ACL, a fractured shoulder blade, multiple ankle sprains, a fractured forearm and three separate knee strains. Sony, unsurprisingly, has the second highest chance of injury this season according to sports injury predictor. You can also add volume reduction to his risk. We know that White is going to get most of the passing down work, and that Harris is going to take some of the early down work away from him. This backfield is very similar to that of Washington. Assuming everyone stays healthy, Sony isn't going to pay off his ADP. He would need a Damien Harris injury to be anything more than a TD upside FLEX play. Yet he's being drafted as a mid range RB 2. Save yourself the headache and just stay away from Sony this season.Josh Jacobs is an extremely interesting pick this season. At his current ADP, he's a safe pick with a decent amount of upside. I'm cool drafting him in that mid third round range...but I'm afraid his ADP will climb a bit when hard knocks is released. At any rate, we know that he's going to be used as the featured back in this offense. Teams always use their RB's when they take them in the early to mid first round, and this is especially so seeing how Jacobs was drafted with the pick they received in the Mack trade. My current projection on him is around 1,200 total yards, and 6.8 total TD's. That comes out to the 21st highest ranking among RB's. I feel comfortable ranking him higher than the RB 21, though, because of the safety. We know that he's going to be used in all aspects of the game, and we know that this offense is going to improve on its number from last season.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
While underutilized at Alabama, Jacobs constantly displayed the talent that warranted his 1st round selection. He now enters an offense that is committed to running the ball and Jacobs is going to be the centerpiece. He's a well rounded running back and should be an immediate fantasy star right out of the gate.
