Thielen wasted no time developing a solid rapport with Kirk Cousins in the QB's first season as a Viking in 2018. Last year was a different story, as Thielen missed six games with a hamstring injury. His 12 catches for 179 yards over two playoff games in January is encouraging, and he'll be the top option in Minnesota's 2020 passing game with Stefon Diggs having been traded.Although Smith-Schuster moved into Pittsburgh's No. 1 receiver role after the team's trade of Antonio Brown prior to last season, his 2019 wasn't what fantasy owners were expecting. That was due in large part to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffering a season-ending injury in Week 2, and neither Mason Rudolph nor Duck Hodges emerging as an adequate replacement.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It was a down year for Thielen in 2019, who's suddenly 30 years old (August 22nd, he will be) with back problems. That's not a recipe for success for a wide receiver, though it helps that he's the only steady presence at wide receiver. Most will look at the target totals from last year and wonder where his targets come from, but don't forget that Thielen saw 298 targets over the previous two seasons. Last year was an incredibly efficient year for the Vikings on the ground, and when you combine the fact that Thielen missed half the season, you can understand why their pass attempts came crashing down to earth. With the defense likely taking a step back after losing many starters, we should expect to see their run-to-pass ratio come back towards the league average, which would help Thielen's target potential. Knowing that he's the only receiver in the starting lineup who has any chemistry with Cousins, we should expect at least eight targets per game. That calls for him being a high-end WR2 at the very least when he's in the lineup, though his injury concerns have to be built into his cost. His current ADP is the WR11, which is too expensive for the risk you're taking on.Did everyone forget just how talented Smith-Schuster is because he had a down year in 2019? He played through multiple injuries and dealt with what was probably the worst quarterback situation in the league. In Week 1 and Week 2, when Ben Roethlisberger was on the field, Smith-Schuster saw 16 targets, catching 11 of them for 162 yards. Not too shabby. Insert bad quarterbacks, paired with Smith-Schuster trying to run routes from the perimeter, and it was a recipe for disaster. The Steelers have vowed to put him back in the slot where he belongs, and he's getting back Roethlisberger, who's continually supported fantasy receivers throughout his long career. Going all the way back to 2008, Ben Roethlisberger's No. 1 and No. 2 wide receivers combined for at least 225 targets on eight different occasions, including 334 times when he had Antonio Brown and Smith-Schuster in 2018. With Roethlisberger on the field, the Steelers haven't thrown the ball less than 584 times since way back in 2012. It's hard to see a scenario where Smith-Schuster doesn't see at least 130 targets if he's healthy (that would be just a 22.2 percent target share), which is elite volume, so even if he's average, he'd be a high-end WR2. I'll leave you with this... Smith-Schuster posted 1,426 yards in his second NFL season at the age of 22. There are just six players who posted more yardage in one of their first two seasons. The list includes Isaac Bruce, Josh Gordon, Torry Holt, Jerry Rice, Victor Cruz, and Odell Beckham Jr. We can't pretend Smith-Schuster is anywhere close to average. He's worth a third-round pick in drafts, even though many are getting him in the fourth.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
Can Thielen keep the consistency going without Stefon DIggs? Are the injuries behind him?A healthy Big Ben is the key for top 10 WR fantasy territory
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Thielen should produce borderline WR1 numbers as the main main in Minnesota. The prototypical bounceback pick. If we took him as a WR1 in 2019, and Ben went down, what has changed? Very little. JuJu is a dynamite pick at ADP
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
People seem to be forgetting about Adam Thielen this year due to the fact that he missed the final six games of 2019. Word of advice, don't ignore him. With Stefon Diggs now in Buffalo, Thielen is going to be a target magnet, especially in the red-zone. He is a solid WR2 with legitimate WR1 upside.Heading into the 2019 season there wasn't a WR more primed for a breakout than Juju Smith-Schuster and then Ben Roethlisberger got hurt. That changed Juju's entire season turning him from a WR1 to a WR3 pretty quickly. Now, with BIg Ben slated to return, Juju has a legitimate shot to finish as a WR1 in 2020. We know he has the talent, now it's just about Roethlisberger and himself staying healthy.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
LOVE Thielen's upside as the Clear Cut No.1 in Kubiak's offense that PEPPERS NO.1 WRsCould rebound in a huge way w/ Big Ben back, but the emergences of Diontae Johnson and James Washington as real talents could cloud the previous target-hog role he was destined for. And who knows if he can truly handle No.1 corners? The Alphas are typically more QB Proof than this.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Could push lofty 10 targets per game with WR Diggs out of the picture and new OC Kubiak likely to throw more often than old OC Stefanski didBackend WR2 production thru Week 8 with QB Rudolph, but injuries (to JuJu, Rudolph) derailed 2nd half - Big Ben's return should help restore JuJu to WR Top 15
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
With Stefon Diggs being traded to the Buffalo Bills, Thielen has an incredible opportunity in front of him right now. While Justin Jefferson will take away some targets, Thielen's in line for a huge season. As long as he can stay healthy, he'll be a borderline WR1 all year.Smith-Schuster hurt a lot of people last season with his performance combined with the price you had to pay to get him in drafts. However, Big Ben is back behind center this season, which is crucial for the offense's success a whole. While I don't believe Juju has top-5 fantasy potential this season, he should be in the conversation for a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 all year long.

For reasons I don't understand, Adam Thielan is going off the board as the WR11. After 14 games without topping 8 targets, you'd think the love for the soon-t-be 30-year-old would have faded but people are still flocking to him, hoping for a repeat of his historic eight game 100+ yard/10+ target stretch. Sadly, that was a long time ago and since then Gary Kubiak's scheme has come in and it just doesn't seem to suit him. While the absence of Stefon Diggs should ensure more volume, Thielan is likely to no longer play 40% of his snaps in the slot with Justin Jefferson arriving. Given he's three times as effective from the slot from a fantasy persepctive, that's a big issue! It's time to fade Adam Thielen. It's very difficult to project JuJu in 2020. After an amazing pair of breakout seasons, he massively disappointed thanks to injury and awful QB play. While Big Ben is back, JuJu remains a question mark thanks to the emergence of Diontae Johnson and James Washington and the arrival of Chase Claypool and Eric Ebron. I hope to see JuJu man the slot and get a large target volume but he remains a big risk you should avoid in the first two-three rounds.

The Vikings went from 6th to 30th in attempts following the firing of Defilipo and promotion of Kevin Stefansky. Cousins thrived in the new system, ranking 9th in play action pass attempts. Thielen has seen a steady decline in targets dating all the way back to last year when Dalvin Cook returned from injury and the OC changes were made. Injuries have been an issue as well.He definitely didn't take hold of the alpha roll in Pittsburgh but I think the season is mostly a wash because of the QB change. It was a bit concerning that he was outpaced in targets by Diontae. And before he gets some hype from Big Ben returning let's not forget he had less targets than Washington, and Diontae, yes he played 80 less snaps but I have my concerns. And if the rumors of not resigning him are true, and with the addition of Claypool, the Steelers apparently have concerns as well.

Adam Thielen is a fake value and that entire Vikings offense is going to be a mess post-Diggs. Don't bet on age 30 bounceback years from injury at a top 4 round price. @FF_RyanBA quick reminder Juju is still having a historic start to his career. He will be entering next season at only 23 years. Screaming buy after a down 2019 season.

Thielen ended up missing 6 games due to injury and he finished with 424 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns. He should rebound from that with a healthy 2020 season, but he is more of a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 in an offense that features RB Dalvin Cook.A combination of 4 missed games and playing with 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks derailed Smith-Schuster in 2019. He should rebound from 42 receptions, 552 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns, especially if Big Ben is healthy and the Big Ben of old.
