Although Smith-Schuster moved into Pittsburgh's No. 1 receiver role after the team's trade of Antonio Brown prior to last season, his 2019 wasn't what fantasy owners were expecting. That was due in large part to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffering a season-ending injury in Week 2, and neither Mason Rudolph nor Duck Hodges emerging as an adequate replacement. With former Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter hired as Atlanta's offensive coordinator prior to last season, Falcons QB Matt Ryan took more deep shots in 2019 than he had under Steve Sarkisian the prior couple of years. One of the beneficiaries was Ridley, who was on pace to surpass 80 catches and 1,100 yards when an abdominal injury in the first half of Atlanta's Week 14 game ended his season.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
It's very difficult to project JuJu in 2020. After an amazing pair of breakout seasons, he massively disappointed thanks to injury and awful QB play. While Big Ben is back, JuJu remains a question mark thanks to the emergence of Diontae Johnson and James Washington and the arrival of Chase Claypool and Eric Ebron. I hope to see JuJu man the slot and get a large target volume but he remains a big risk you should avoid in the first two-three rounds.Calvin Ridley is the definition of a breakout candidate going into his third season. With Sanu and Hooper out of town and an offense that will need to continue throwing a lot, Ridley should be a strong fantasy option with massive upside if he can start to take over from Julio Jones. Just remember though, there's no guarantee the breakout happens this year so don't pay for his ceiling.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Did everyone forget just how talented Smith-Schuster is because he had a down year in 2019? He played through multiple injuries and dealt with what was probably the worst quarterback situation in the league. In Week 1 and Week 2, when Ben Roethlisberger was on the field, Smith-Schuster saw 16 targets, catching 11 of them for 162 yards. Not too shabby. Insert bad quarterbacks, paired with Smith-Schuster trying to run routes from the perimeter, and it was a recipe for disaster. The Steelers have vowed to put him back in the slot where he belongs, and he's getting back Roethlisberger, who's continually supported fantasy receivers throughout his long career. Going all the way back to 2008, Ben Roethlisberger's No. 1 and No. 2 wide receivers combined for at least 225 targets on eight different occasions, including 334 times when he had Antonio Brown and Smith-Schuster in 2018. With Roethlisberger on the field, the Steelers haven't thrown the ball less than 584 times since way back in 2012. It's hard to see a scenario where Smith-Schuster doesn't see at least 130 targets if he's healthy (that would be just a 22.2 percent target share), which is elite volume, so even if he's average, he'd be a high-end WR2. I'll leave you with this... Smith-Schuster posted 1,426 yards in his second NFL season at the age of 22. There are just six players who posted more yardage in one of their first two seasons. The list includes Isaac Bruce, Josh Gordon, Torry Holt, Jerry Rice, Victor Cruz, and Odell Beckham Jr. We can't pretend Smith-Schuster is anywhere close to average. He's worth a third-round pick in drafts, even though many are getting him in the fourth.Prior to getting hurt and having his season cut short, Ridley was on pace for 1,066 yards and eight touchdowns in 2019, which would have had him as the WR14. Now going into his third NFL season, there's a real chance for a breakout. Sure, Julio Jones isn't going away but he doesn't have to. Not many realize that Mohamed Sanu saw 94 targets in 2018 and was on pace for 96 targets before being traded in 2019. We don't really expect Russell Gage to fill that role, do we? If you want to know if there's room for both Ridley and Jones to be WR1s, look no further than the Bucs last year with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, even if it is rare for that to happen. Ridley saw 49 targets in the six games he played without Sanu, which would amount to 131 over an entire 16-game season. Ridley has real top-five breakout potential and is an ideal high-end WR2 on your fantasy team.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
A healthy Big Ben is the key for top 10 WR fantasy territory2020 is the breakout season
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
The prototypical bounceback pick. If we took him as a WR1 in 2019, and Ben went down, what has changed? Very little. JuJu is a dynamite pick at ADPShould breakout, but his ADP has entered 2019 Chris Godwin territory. Pressure to produce is very high, and may not be worth the cost.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Heading into the 2019 season there wasn't a WR more primed for a breakout than Juju Smith-Schuster and then Ben Roethlisberger got hurt. That changed Juju's entire season turning him from a WR1 to a WR3 pretty quickly. Now, with BIg Ben slated to return, Juju has a legitimate shot to finish as a WR1 in 2020. We know he has the talent, now it's just about Roethlisberger and himself staying healthy.Calvin Ridley is quietly becoming one of the league's best young breakout WRs. Even while playing second fiddle to Julio Jones, Ridley totaled 833 yards and 7 TDs last year and that was in only 13 games. The Falcons offense is always high-flying and I'd want to get as many pieces of that offense as possible, Ridley very much included.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
WR 29 in PPG his rookie season and WR 17 in PPG last season. The arrow is pointing up for Ridley and he has a very safe floor. He won't have the overall WR1 upside that those around him like Evans and AJ Brown have, but he also has less questions.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Smith-Schuster hurt a lot of people last season with his performance combined with the price you had to pay to get him in drafts. However, Big Ben is back behind center this season, which is crucial for the offense's success a whole. While I don't believe Juju has top-5 fantasy potential this season, he should be in the conversation for a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 all year long. There may not be more of a value in all of fantasy football ADP right now than Ridley. He's connected to one of the best offenses in the NFL and he's essentially a lock to see over 115 targets if he plays all 16 games. At his current ADP, Ridley's a home run selection and has the potential of finishing the season as a WR1.

A quick reminder Juju is still having a historic start to his career. He will be entering next season at only 23 years. Screaming buy after a down 2019 season.Matt Ryan has supported 2 Top 24 PPR WRs four times in his career. Amongst active QBs, only Aaron Rodgers has more seasons of supporting 2 Top 24 WRs. @ClutchFantasy He's been pegged as a potential breakout player this year on one of the pass-heaviest offense in the league. Weeks 1-14 last season, he was the WR14 overall. @SWallace_FF

Backend WR2 production thru Week 8 with QB Rudolph, but injuries (to JuJu, Rudolph) derailed 2nd half - Big Ben's return should help restore JuJu to WR Top 15

He definitely didn't take hold of the alpha roll in Pittsburgh but I think the season is mostly a wash because of the QB change. It was a bit concerning that he was outpaced in targets by Diontae. And before he gets some hype from Big Ben returning let's not forget he had less targets than Washington, and Diontae, yes he played 80 less snaps but I have my concerns. And if the rumors of not resigning him are true, and with the addition of Claypool, the Steelers apparently have concerns as well.Getting out targeted by Austin Hooper in the same amount of games can't feel great. Has been a TD king up to this point. My only small worry for guys like Ridley and McLaurin. They come out as seniors, basically fully developed, and we expect them to continue taking large steps forward when they most likely came out of college as more of a finished product, near their ceiling. However, now that Hooper has left, I would expect a better season, just based on target volume.

A combination of 4 missed games and playing with 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks derailed Smith-Schuster in 2019. He should rebound from 42 receptions, 552 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns, especially if Big Ben is healthy and the Big Ben of old.Ridley was solid with 900 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns, but he needs to work on consistency to be more than a WR3.
