He's likely to have to work harder with A. Brown out of the picture, but Juju is in the mold of guys like Anquan Boldin and Hines Ward who didn't mind working hard and played like they were born to play football
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
It's tough to know if he can repeat a 88/1377/5 line, but it's important to note he only scored FIVE TDs. Even if his yardage and catches drop, he has the TD upside to make up for it.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Juju is going 100/1600/10 this season. He is a beast and while people think the TDs may not be there, he was second in the league with 16 red zone receptions last season.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
With Antonio Brown out of town, many will automatically assume that Smith-Schuster will get more targets. You shouldn't be so quick to jump aboard that train. He saw 166 targets in 2018, which ranked fourth in the league. On top of that, the Steelers threw the ball a league-high 687 times. On top of that, he'll now see a bit more shadow coverage from top cornerbacks, making life a tad difficult. He's still going to be the focal point of their pass-attack, making him worthy of a second-round pickYou have to give Kittle a ton of credit for what he did in 2018. He played with a combination of Jimmy Garoppolo, C.J. Beathard, and Nick Mullens, yet managed to set the yardage record for a tight end. Getting Garoppolo back for the full season should help, but he may lose a few targets considering Dante Pettis is now in a starting role, while the 49ers drafted Deebo Samuel in the second-round and Jalen Hurd in the third-round. He's still a force to be reckoned with and one of the three tight ends worth a pick in the first three rounds
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
There is no doubt about it that JuJu was the best slot receiver in football last year. Part of that, of course, had to do with Antonio Brown drawing loads of attention, and it remains to a question how he will perform outside versus stronger cornerback matchups. The target share is expected to improve but that assumes Big Ben again throws a league-high 675 passes which seems unlikely. Not only did Kittle receive for more yards than any tight end in football history last year, but he did it with Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard as his quarterbacks. Enter Jimmy Garoppolo and we might see an even better season. Granted, the 49ers have some weapons in the passing game, but among them, Kittle is still the number one and you likely can't say that about Ertz in Philly with Alshon roaming around.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
The Steelers passed an absurd 689 times in 2018, which lead to incredible opportunities for both Antonio Brown and Juju. With Brown now in Oakland, there's the potential for Juju to step in and receive a ridiculous amount of targets. However, I'm projecting the Steelers offense to move more towards a balanced approach by running the ball more and Juju is going to draw consistent double team coverage. While I still believe Juju can prevail under these circumstances, expectations need to be tempered with the young 22 year old.We saw a complete emergence from George Kittle in 2018 that has lead to unimaginable hype for the young TE. With that being said, there's reason to be cautious with Kittle moving forward. We've seen a very small sample size with Kittle and Garoppolo and the 49ers added a bunch of other weapons to that offense this offseason. Kittle will still be heavily involved, but we may not see 1,300 receiving yards from him again in 2019...Temper your expectations, but still feel confident drafting Kittle in the 4th-5th rounds of your redraft leagues.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Juju has the 4th most receptions of all time through a WR's first two seasons. And that was with AB there. AB accumulated 168 targets last season. Try to wrap your head around that. Juju had 166 targets last year…and now 168 have just been vacated. Please don't listen to people who tell you that he'll do worse because he's the #1 now. There is absolutely a chance that he regresses on a per target basis, but there is very little talent in that WR core and they are going to find themselves down more than usual. 180 targets is well within his range of outcomes. My latest projection update has Juju with 175 targets, and he has edged past Adams with my top overall projectionGeorge Kittle is going to be the centerpiece of the 49ers passing offense. So while we can't expect him to break the single season receiving record again, he should still have a great season. We still don't have a large enough sample to know exactly how well Kittle will perform with Garoppolo...but it's safe to assume he's not a downgrade from what they had last season. Kittle is now entering his third season as a pro, at a position that's notoriously difficult for young players. He's also missed just one game in his short two year career, although it's worth noting that he still has suffered a few injuries over the past few years. I view Kittle as a safe pick in the third round if you want to target a TE early. Unfortunately, he routinely gets taken in the second...an ADP which I'm less in love with.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Smith-Schuster should be the lead receiver in Pittsburgh with WR Antonio Brown on his way out the door. Smith-Schuster had 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and 7 touchdowns last year and he should be primed for a big jump in Year 3 as the lead receiver.Kittle had 88 receptions for 1,377 yards and 5 touchdowns on an offense that started 3 quarterbacks last year. There is an argument to be made that he is the best receiving tight end in football, but I would still rank him below Kelce due to the QB situation in San Francisco.
