Watson has the talent to sniff the top-5 no matter what, but losing Nuk has to be seen as a huge negative.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
With star wideout DeAndre Hopkins having been traded in March to Arizona for declining 28-year-old running back David Johnson, Watson's fantasy outlook is more uncertain than at this time last year. Expect a bit of a drop in his 2020 passing production.Having averaged at least nine targets per game in each of the past five seasons in which he has suited up, Edelman posted a career-high 1,117 receiving yards as a 33-year-old last season. With him now catching passes from a quarterback other than Tom Brady for the first time in his career, Edelman likely has the most productive seasons of his NFL career behind him.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
After finishing as the No. 4 quarterback in back-to-back seasons, many are starting to slide Watson down draft boards due to the loss of DeAndre Hopkins. We've never seen Watson without Hopkins, which certainly does raise some questions, but it also could provide an outlet for even more rushing yards for him. Watson maneuvers the pocket extremely well and buys himself time to find open receivers. Now without his safety blanket in Hopkins, we could see his rushing ceiling go up. Did you know he rushed for at least 32 yards in 9-of-15 games last year but never topped 47 rushing yards? That's odd, to say the least. The Texans defense will be as bad as it's ever been with Watson under center, which should mean even more dropbacks. The reason I'm still okay drafting Watson as a top-six quarterback: He's only thrown 26 touchdown passes in each of the last two years and has still been a top-12 type quarterback in 63.2 percent of his career games, which is the second-highest rate since 2000, behind only Patrick Mahomes. For context, there were just seven quarterbacks who topped 50 percent last year alone. Watson may not have the passing ceiling without Hopkins, but I'm expecting his rushing totals to make up for some of that, leaving him in the top-six quarterbacks.Did you realize Edelman has seen 793 targets over his last 83 games? That's a pace of 152.9 targets per season. But what happens when your whole world is flipped upside down? Losing Tom Brady is going to affect Edelman more than anyone, as those two had a connection and were continually on the same page. The Patriots also threw the ball 620 times last year, a number they won't even come close to in 2020. It's a different offense, yes, but did you know Cam Newton has never thrown more than 517 pass attempts in a single season? He's also failed to throw for more than 3,869 yards since his rookie year and has thrown more than 24 touchdowns just once. Meanwhile, Edelman has never averaged more than 7.9 yards per target. What does that mean? Even if he were to get 125 targets, his career-best wouldn't have totaled 1,000 yards. There's a lot of issues and question marks surrounding Edelman, and we haven't even discussed him turning 34 years old this offseason. He's likely to post low-upside WR3 numbers when on the field, but that's been a chore in itself, as he's played all 16 games just three times over his 11 years in the league. If you take the late-WR approach in drafts, it's not the worst thing to have Edelman as your WR3, but ideally, he's your WR4 with all the question marks and lack of upside.
Rob Wilson

Loss of Hopkins hurts, but a myriad of deep threats should provide big weeks
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
Without Hopkins, who becomes Watson's go-to receiver? Dont believe the Twitter hype, Deshaun is not falling off
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Deshaun Watson was easily my toughest QB to place because of the loss of DeAndre Hopkins. They did bring in Brandin Cooks but he pails in comparison to Hopkins. I have Watson at 4th overall because of his incredible rushing ability. Over the last two seasons, he's combined to rush for 964 yards and 12 touchdowns. Even with Hopkins gone, Watson should have a huge year. With Tom Brady no longer at QB, the safe, reliable feeling of drafting Edelman has faded. Even with the addition of Cam Newton, it's hard to imagine Edelman being quite as consistent as he used to be. I see him as more of a flex option this year as opposed to his usual WR2-self.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Ideally, Watson will not be so up and down in 2020, but his season stats are undeniable. He had 3,852 yards passing and 26 passing touchdowns to go along with 413 yards rushing and 7 rushing touchdowns. The only question is the fantasy impact of not having DeAndre Hopkins, but Watson is a pretty safe QB1 at this point.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Even without Hopkins, Watson is going to be just fine for fantasy due to his rushing and playmaking ability. His overall ceiling will take a hit without Hopkins present, but he's still going to be a safe option to roll out every single week.Edelman's chances of returning fantasy value certainly increased with the Cam Newton signing, but at this point of his career, he's nothing more than a low-end WR2/WR3.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
A 24-year-old with PPG finishes of QB1, QB6 and QB2 should be a locked-in fantasy star. Pan to Bill O'Brien. The incompetent Texans GM/Coach/Jester continues to ruin a supremely talented passing attack by failing to protect his elite QB and trading away his best receiver for an aging RB and a hot dog. Watson remains an elite fantasy QB but Brandin Cooks is no Deandre Hopkins and Watson will feel some more value depression, despite minor O-line improvements. He's a safe QB1 but lacks true upside. Just be patient and take him if he starts to fall.Last year's PPR WR7 is available in the 8th round of drafts. HUH?! Edelman is one of the most consistent receivers around when he's healthy and while he now lacks Tom Brady, Jarrett Stidham would have been a great replacement given his proclivity for slot receivers. Sadly for Edelman lovers, Cam Newton has arrived and that will not only boost his ADP, it likely hurts his fantasy production. Newton won't use the 34-year-old receiver anywhere near as much, making Edelman a PPR certainty with less usefulness in non-PPR. Nevertheless, he's still a great sleeper if his ADP remains outside the first five rounds and I'd suggest he's a very solid starting option.

Just to play devil's advocate, Hopkins put up 1165 and 7 last year on 150 targets. A more spread out offense with more efficient production could Prevent Watson from really declining at allLimped into the off season with injuries. Constantly exceeds expectations. Such little target competition(sorry Sanu). I'll keep waiting for something to give out and end up most likely avoiding him. A solid 82nd in Y/R. Not that he's ever excelled there but that doesn't play when the targets run out.

Brandin Cooks was a definite fantasy lifeboat. He's no Hopkins, but he provides Watson another explosive option alongside Fuller, which is huge considering Fuller's lack of availability.Love his target-hog role, but will that continue with the first-ever QB not named Brady?
