There is no back up plan in KC.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Andy Reid always puts out a quality running game, and while Spencer Ware was the favorite to lead the team in carries, his season is now over so Hunt should become a bellcow in a terrific scheme. Hunt should be drafted as high as the 3rd round.Dixon is out for the season and should not be drafted.
Staff Rankings
QB List
Now that Spencer Ware is out for the season, we'll get to see the talented Kareem Hunt in the Chiefs starting running back role, and I think he could perform well. Ware did well on this team last year, and Hunt is a very talented back. Given the system he's in, he's a pretty safe RB2 with RB1 upside.
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Hunt has a golden opportunity to be a RB1 with starting RB Spencer Ware out for the season with a knee injury. Ware has RB1 upside on a team that consistently runs the ball at a high level.

UPDATE: Ware went down so Hunt is the new featured running back in Andy Reid's offense.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It seems that Spencer Ware is going to be out the year, so here you go. Hunt is a must-have in an Andy Reid led offense, as he relies on a one-back system. Over the last four years, there have been 64 games, and in them, a Chiefs running back has totaled 16 or more touches in 51 of them. Hunt is going to finish as an RB1 if he can stay on the field. Similar to Doug Martin, Dixon will be suspended to start the season, though he has four games to serve. He looked really good towards the end of 2016, breaking 35 tackles on 118 touches, outplaying Terrance West seemingly every week. John Harbaugh went out of his way to say that Dixon is their guy and they proved it when they didn't draft a running back.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Hunt will take over as lead back with Spencer Ware out and has a lot of fantasy upside in an Andy Reid offense, both as a receiver and runner. Charcandrick West will be his backup, but he has proven he can't handle the starting job, which should keep Hunt as the main back while healthy, **I still like Dixon, but he will miss the first four games due to a suspension and the Ravens added Danny Woodhead, which will cut into Dixon's receptions once he returns.
Corey Parson
RotoExperts
The Chiefs' rookie running back could open the season as the feature back. Spencer Ware's injury make Hunt a player to own. Auction Value $10 Dixon will be out for te entire 2017 season.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
The Kansas City Star reports third-round Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt has "already impressed with his short-area burst and balance." Kareem Hunt's preseason week 2 rendered him the nickname "cockroach" - he just doesn't go down. https://twitter.com/pyro_hartbeat/status/899710493476085761 Hunt has an 8th round ADP and is a great candidate to break-out as a rookie. Ware may have bell-cow potential, but Hunt will almost certainly take over third-down/pass catching duties out of the backfield. He suffered an injury that could keep him out for the remainder of the season. Even if he is healthy enough to come back he will still have to serve a four game suspension.
Sablich Brothers
5th Down Fantasy
Chiefs traded three picks to move up and take Hunt in NFL Draft, so he's highly thought of; projects to be a solid all-around back and will be ready to pounce should Ware struggle; 5.6 YPC and nearly 1500 yards final season at Toledo.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Out for season with a torn MCL.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Hunt will push for work early in Kansas City and should be able to beat out Charcandrick West for some passing-down duty. Hunt then will have a shot at beating out Spencer Ware to be lead back. I think Ware can hold him off, but it will be tough.I still like Dixon, but he will miss the first four games due to a suspension and the Ravens added Danny Woodhead, which will cut into Dixon's receptions once he returns.
