Sleepers and Busts
Thielen set a personal best last season with 14 TDs. He had fantasy owners Hooked on a Thielen (That's reference to Blue Swede's song lyrics for our younger viewers haha!) Anyway, I digress, where was I? Oh yeah those TDs probably comes down a little, but maybe he'll make up for it with more yardage? Justin Jefferson will eat into some of his targets, but also may draw more coverage. The Vikings play a tough schedule. For that reason I'll downgrade him just a smidge.Another talented player in a bad situation. The Giants offensive line isn't very good. The book is still out on Daniel Jones. And some of the defensive lines they play in the NFC East keep me up at night, especially Washington's. I just can't see Golladay lighting it up when Chase Young is mauling Daniel Jones on every play. Get me some WRs on high scoring teams instead. Avoid
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
What if Golladay is this year's Stefon Diggs? It'll take a leap for Daniel Jones, but not many thought Josh Allen would take that step as a passer (and he did). Kenny G feels like the guy this year who will fall in your draft (especially now with a camp injury) and at some point you have to take him with the value he'll bring. And he could end up as a top-5 WR if Danny Dimes even improves a little bit.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Based on Expected TD Rate, Thielen should have had 5.5 receiving touchdowns last season on his 925 receiving yards. He finished with 14! He was incredibly efficient in the red zone, catching eight touchdowns on only 12 targets. This high level of efficiency makes Thielen a very risky investment for fantasy this upcoming season. With Jefferson stepping up and assuming the WR1 role in this offense, Thielen now has to keep up this unprecedented touchdown rate in order to return value on where he's being drafted. Cousins and Thielen certainly have the chemistry to make that happen, but it's not exactly a sure thing. If you can get Thielen as a WR3 on your roster, where you can live with the potential range of outcomes, I'm okay with that team-building strategy. However, having to rely on him as anything more than that is a recipe for disaster. There's a lot of hype right now surrounding Kenny Golladay and it's easy to understand why that's the case. He's an incredibly talented receiver and he just signed a massive contract with the New York Giants in free agency. However, once you sit down and really assess the situation around him, it's difficult to get too excited. Golladay now joins an absolutely crowded offense with a lot of mouths to feed, which instantly puts a cap on his projected ceiling. With Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, Evan Engram, Kyle Rudolph, and Devontae Booker all in the mix for targets, Golladay is going to have to be ultra efficient with his opportunity to make an impact for fantasy football. In my opinion, Golladay is more of a low-end WR2 than anything else. You're buying into Daniel Jones taking a massive step forward if you trust Golladay as anything more than that. My Very Early Projection: 64-1087-7
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It seems the torch has been passed from Thielen to Justin Jefferson, though it's not as if Thielen will just fade into oblivion. It goes back to the Stefon Diggs days where he had to share that production. While Thielen did finish as the No. 8 wide receiver last year, it was thanks to his 14 touchdowns on just 74 receptions and 925 yards. No other receiver finished higher than No. 18 with fewer yards than Thielen. He's also going to be 31 years old at the start of the season and has a history of back issues, presenting a bit of risk, though he does have a ton of proven production with Kirk Cousins, which can't be ignored.Going to a new team is never easy, especially for someone who's coming from a team that was lacking any depth of pass catchers. It was easy for him to get eight-plus targets per game, especially when Marvin Jones was hurt. Now going to the Giants, who have a bevy of options, including Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, Kyle Rudolph, and Saquon Barkley is going to be tough. To be fair, you don't go out in free agency and sign someone like Golladay to give him five targets per game, but he's not going to get the consistent targets he got in Detroit, and the targets he does get aren't going to be as efficient coming from Daniel Jones.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Thielen feels like he overachieved a little in 2020 with 14 receiving touchdowns in 15 games. He is still a very good receiver, but I think Jefferson is a fantasy WR1 and Thielen is more of a fantasy WR2.Golladay had an injury plagued year and he now joins a Giants team that is trying to develop Daniel Jones. Golladay is a low-upside WR2 to high-end WR3 playing with an inconsistent quarterback.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Giants landing spot = mixed bag. Daniel Jones is a clear downgrade from Matt Stafford, but the path to Alpha WR1 volume is clear, especially in Jason Garrett's offense that has thrived with a monster X (Owens, Dez, Miles Austin)
