FantasyPros
Williams had a nice close to the season and he should have a big role in their offense in 2019. Williams is a solid RB2, but he is in a crowded backfield with RB LeSean McCoy and RB Darwin Thompson competing for touches.Golladay was one of the pleasant surprises in Detroit last year and he should have WR2 value playing with QB Matthew Stafford.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's never a bad thing to have the running back attached to Andy Reid's offense, though Williams shouldn't go inside the top few rounds due to his question marks. He's still yet to have more than 13 carries in a regular season game, so what makes us believe he's going to stand up to a full workload? The Chiefs just snagged LeSean McCoy when he was released by the Bills, making the situation even more sticky. Not to mention the performance by Darwin Thompson in the preseason. It's possible that Andy Reid moves to somewhat of a timeshare, though Williams should be the starter out of the gate. It's clear that the Lions view Golladay as their long-term WR1, though you have to wonder just how high his ceiling will be. Despite Golden Tate leaving and Marvin Jones missing time at the end of the season, Golladay finished as the No. 21 receiver in fantasy. When drafting him as your WR2, understand that he may not have the upside or consistency of guys like Stefon Diggs and Brandin Cooks
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Fit the bill nicely in KC backfield after K. Hunt suspension/release - No. 2 RB in half-PPR FAN PPG over final 3 weeks - HC Reid's comments of RB committee ring hollow given that has never been his styleEntering his 3rd year, which used to be the magical breakout season for WRs, but with a 70/1063/5 line in '18, he kind of already broke out - with his talent and another year of experience, fair to expect even more in '19
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
The committee talk has me scared of Damien, largely because his price is so steep. I still like him, but the price needs to be right. Also, get your Darwin Thompson shares no matter what you do with DW.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Damien Williams has as much upside as any running back in fantasy. Remember what a Chiefs RB is capable of. Hunt finished as the RB 11 in half PPR scoring last season...in just 11 games! Hunt is a good RB, but Williams is essentially a bigger, faster, and more athletic version of Hunt. He also showed last season that he can produce in this offense. Williams had 5 starts last season after Hunt was released and Ware was injured. He averaged 114 yards and 2.2 TD's in those 5 starts. That stat line would have been the #1 fantasy RB over a full season. Now, obviously those TD numbers will come down...but he's still going to be elite. Andy Reid has produced a RB 1 for fantasy in 12 of his 20 seasons as head coach. So when you tell me I'm also getting a discount on an Andy Reid RB. Then I'm all in.Golladay is a popular breakout pick this season, but I've yet to take him in a mock draft. It's not that he's a bad pick, or that he needs to be avoided at all, but there just always seems to be someone else I'd rather have. Golladay posted a 70/1063/5 stat line in his sophomore season in 2018, and there is absolutely room for him to expand on that number this season. The Lions only good WR's are him, Jones and Amendola...so he's going to see a significant share of the targets. The problem is that 1) the Lions are going to run the ball a lot this season...and 2) Jones was used more as the downfield threat and red zone option before his injury last season. Golladay absolutely proved that he's capable of an expanded role, so that could change in his third year, but it's still tough to pull the trigger on him as often times my #1 WR (after going RB heavy in the first three rounds). By no means should you avoid Golladay, but for sure don't reach on him, because there are a lot of great options still on the board in his range.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Williams was borderline dominant once he took over the starting running back role for the Chiefs in December, and his pass-catching abilities gave him what appeared to be an enormously high floor heading into this season even with only a small sample on which to rely. But an early hamstring injury brought out rumblings of a committee approach with Carlos Hyde, Darrel Williams, and Darwin Thompson, and there are conflicting reports as to Williams' workload. Because of his upside, Williams still makes an RB2, and a strong one at that. But drafting him is not without risk, so fantasy owners should make sure they have depth at the running back position if they take Williams with an early pick.Golladay broke out last year, totaling over 1,000 yards and five touchdowns. But the vast majority of his production came after Golden Tate was traded and Marvin Jones went down with a season-ending injury. Given that Matt Patricia wants to run the ball as much as possible, it's unclear how much Golladay can produce with Jones in the lineup. But, the Lions should be behind in the majority of their games, so despite Patricia's desire, they'll likely need to throw the ball more. Golladay has talent but it's difficult to see him being much more than a mid-tier WR2 this season. That's certainly valuable, but not a superstar.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Williams entered 2018 with virtually no production to his name but exploded when given the opportunity in Andy Reid's offense. So long as he can get healthy and earn his spot as the starter, he will be a top 20 running back with room for much more. That upside will depend entirely on his large of a role he can handle, as the offense is certain to score plenty of points. There is reason, however, to be worried about Darwin Thompson.Golladay did have a mini breakout last season but it came while Marvin Jones was shelved and Golden Tate was playing in Philly. Now that he isn't the only competent receiver on the depth chart, his volume share should plummet. He is still a WR2, but be careful with the extent of your expectations.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
The #1 RB in an Andy Reid offense is a fantasy stud. It's science. So get the RB that is going to lead this backfield. Oh yeah, Reid also never employs an RBBC, so don't believe that either.I liked Golladay A LOT last season but his price has gone up too much for me to like him this season. He went 70/1063/5, but that was without Marvin Jones for a significant amount of time, TJ Hockenson, and Darren Bevell, who will likely turn the Lions into a run first team for the first time in ages.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Damien Williams was a starter in 5 games last season. In those five games he saw at least 10 rushing attempts and at least 6 targets in every game but one. Furthermore, he scored a TD in every one of those games and actually scored 8 in total. Williams was extended by the Chiefs this offseason and only has Carlos Hyde (The worst receiving back in the NFL over the past few seasons - oh and his rushing numbers aren't very good either) and 5'8" 201lb 6th rounder Darwin Thompson. Damien Williams is not going to lose his job if healthy. Andy Reid also mentioned that he'd use an RBBC "like in Philly." If you look at Andy Reid's RBs over the last FIFTEEN seasons, he has used a RBBC one time. That was in 2009, when the Eagles were transitioning from Westbrook to McCoy. Other than that, Reid has sprinkled RBs like Ware and West in at times but that's about it. I expect this "RBBC" to be more of the same - a RBBC of sprinkles. Grab Williams at a value. After Tate was shipped out last season, Babytron's 16-game pace was 80/1172/4.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
I'm assuming Williams isn't the starter over the entire season. Williams had a nice 4-game run to end the season, but was under 13 touches in two of them, he won't be the only fantasy producer in this backfield.
