Pack to the Future
Behind Davante Adams, you won't find a safer WR than Michael Thomas. He's essentially a lock for 100 receptions and has improved his TD numbers scoring nine in each of the last two seasons. If you're looking to go WR in the first, you can't go wrong with Thomas.Whether it was David Johnson, Chase Edmonds, or Kenyan Drake, the Arizona backfield was highly productive during the 2019 season. With Johnson now in Houston, Drake will take full control and is in prime position to finally fulfill his potential we've talked about for years.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
There's a clear top-3 group of RBs for me, but after that I'd consider Thomas (especially in full or half PPR formats).
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
You know what the craziest thing about Thomas' 2019 season was? Among the top 40 single-game performances throughout the season, he had just one of them, yet he still finished as the No. 1 fantasy receiver by a massive 67.0 half-PPR points. You can argue that another receiver may finish No. 1, but you can't find a safer receiver atop of drafts. It's crazy to see Kenyan Drake not getting the respect he deserved when he performed the way he did under Kliff Kingsbury last year. Since coming over in Week 9, he was the No. 4 running back through the remainder of the fantasy season, and the Cardinals liked him enough to move on from David Johnson and not draft a running back until the seventh round.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Has 70 more catches, 116 more receiving yards than any other player in NFL history thru their first 4 seasonsEnticing if he can finally put a full season of bell-cow work in the books as ARI RBs ranked 3rd in FAN PTS per Touch in 2019, with Drake contributing elite stretch-run numbers
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Tier of his own when comparing to other WRs. He is the alpha and clear #1.
Justin Dodds
Locked In Football
Last season, MT beat the WR2 by 67 fpts and 100 fpts in half PPR and PPR, respectively. Thomas lead over the next best in receptions by 45 and 28 in targets, all while also being without Drew Brees for nearly 6 full games. Expect this dominance to continue in 2020 as the Saints have added only Emmanuel Sanders to the offense, who currently isn't expected to be involved all that much being ECR WR45 in half PPR.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Thomas broke Marvin Harrison's single-season reception record with 149 receptions in 2019. He also had 1,725 yards receiving and 9 receiving touchdowns, despite QB Drew Brees missing 5 games. Thomas is the best fantasy receiver in football, especially if Brees returns to New Orleans in 2020.Drake was a star for the Cardinals in 2019. In just 8 games, he had 814 yards from scrimmage and 8 touchdowns. The Cardinals have signed him to a one-year deal and he should be the featured back with RB David Johnson gone. Drake is a RB1 with huge upside.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
149/1725/9 . . . while playing with a backup QB for a good chunk of the season. That's all you need to know.Kenyan Drake finished as the #4 RB last season after being shipped over to Arizona. The only thing that has changed in that Arizona offense since then is that they added DEANDRE HOPKINS to clear out the box for Drake and the only RB addition was 7th round RB Eno Benjamin. Let's not forget that Drake is also playing on a prove-it deal for Arizona. All signs are pointing up.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Michael Thomas just put up the best season for a WR of all time and there's very little reason to doubt that he could put up another dominant performance in 2020. Even when Drew Brees went down, MT was still dominant with Teddy Bridgewater. Thomas is clearly the WR1 in drafts this season and it's not even close. If you want to build your fantasy team around Thomas, you're not going to find any complaints here...Drake should put up insane numbers this season in this offense. There are a lot of great options in the top-10 RBs right now, but Drake truly has the potential to explode this season. A top-5 finish is not out of the question.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Michael Thomas targets and fantasy ranks last three seasons: 2017: 149 targets - WR5 2018: 147 targets - WR6 2019: 185 targets - WR1Kenyan Drake is 26 years old, but only 456 career carries with a 4.8 YPC average. He was the RB3 weeks 9-16 with 20.3 ppr ppg.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
There's a very good chance Michael Thomas won't repeat as the fantasy WR1 in 2020. In fact the WR1 hasn't repeated since 2014. But is anybody else more likely to top all receivers in 2020? Absolutely not! The reality is that it's really hard to consistently churn out league-winning fantasy performances but Michael Thomas is rightly the consensus WR1. You can safely take him anywhere between 1.03 in PPR and 1.06 in non-PPR without any complaints from me.The Cardinals offence is incredible for running backs, with David Johnson, Chase Edmonds and Kenyan Drake all having explosive moments in 2019. With DJ gone and Chase the clear backup, it's Drake's job in 2020 so that should mean a clear-cut RB1 right? Well, maybe. Drake played five games with the Cards. He was incredible against mediocre Browns and Seahawks defence he gifted him 6 TDs but struggled in the other games, maxing out at 15 touches in each. With DeAndre Hopkins now in town, this offence seems to be transitioning towards something more pass-heavy, which is normal for a second-year coach and a sophomore QB. I like Drake, but only enough to take him in the mid-late second rounds and maybe a touch earlier in PPR.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Averaging 117 receptions over his first 4 years. Not sure how you could rank him below 1 with Brees back.ARZ threw to the RB 103 times last year. Assuming Edmonds gets his 20 or so like 2019, That should provide a safe floor for Drake in 2020. ARZ Kenyan Drake was a different beast: ARZ: 18.9 touches per game, 15.9PPG, 8 TDs MIA: 11.5 touches per game, 7.6PPG, 0 TDs Normally, I might be concerned about the limited sample, but the only person he didn't come in and immediately replace last year was of course not on the roster last year, 7th round pick, Eno Benjamin. His contract is interesting after 2020, in that there isn't one, so enjoy the ride
