FantasyPros
Fournette was extremely frustrating, as he battled injuries, suspension, a bad attitude and inconsistent production. He's a low-end RB2 that must prove that he can be a bell cow back in Jacksonville.Johnson showed well in 10 games, finishing the year with 641 yards rushing, 213 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns. Durability is the big concern, he will be recovering from a knee injury this off-season and he had only 118 rushing attempts. He is an upside RB2.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Everyone remembers what they last saw, which is why Fournette is dropping down draft boards. The last time fantasy owners saw him play, he totaled just 126 rushing yards and one touchdown over his last three games. What they don't know is that the Jaguars offensive line was missing 4-of-5 starters at the end of the year. Fournette is locked into 20 touches per week, which is extremely odd to find at the start of the third-round, which is where you can get him 90 percent of the timeDespite having an extremely limited role to start the season, Johnson finished as the RB18 in points per game during his rookie season. The Lions did sign C.J. Anderson, but Johnson has already shown he's able to produce with a veteran on the roster, and he's openly admitted that he doesn't want to be a 20-plus-touch running back. He's not going to offer top-five upside, but Johnson should be an RB2 more often than not
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
I'm lower than the industry on Fournette by a long shot - I just don't like the history of soft tissue injuries, the punishing rush style (he too has to absorb what he dishes out) and the suspect O-line in front of himSophomore stud will head a run-centric offense under OC Bevell and should see a sharp rise in passing game work (60+ catches?) with RB Riddick out of the pic
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Fournette's talent and role remain underrated. He needs to be more efficient, but perhaps a quarterback that isn't horrendous can help that.Johnson will be a stud if the Lions feed him. There's risk in believing they will, but it's worth the gamble.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Between injuries and ineffectiveness, things were trending down as last season wore on. But all the signs are there for a bounceback. Fournette dropped significant weight this offseason, and the offense should be a bit more explosive with Blake Bortles out and Nick Foles in. Fournette has been more involved in the passing game this preseason, so fantasy owners could be looking at a huge bounceback effort. That's assuming Fournette avoids injury, which has been difficult for him to do throughout his young career.Johnson played 10 games in his rookie season, rushing for 641 yards and three touchdowns and adding 32 receptions. Although he missed the final six games of the season with a knee injury, he should be fully recovered. The Lions added C.J. Anderson this offseason, and so those who thought that the absence of LeGarrette Blount would lead to more carries for Johnson were likely incorrect. But with the release of Theo Riddick, Johnson should see more work in the passing game. If he can keep up what he did over his final eight games, he should be an excellent option this season.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2018, Fournette ranked 12th in fantasy points per game (15.1) and seventh in touches per game (19.4). Leonard Fournette is going to get a lot of opportunity in DeFilippo's scheme. "I'll know a little bit more after this week in terms of how many plays he gets winded and all those things in a game-like atmosphere," DeFilippo said of the third-year running back. "But I know Leonard's goals. Leonard's goal is to be the best back in this league, and unique star players play a lot of football. So, to me, he needs to play and so that's where we're at with that." Jaguars.comKerryon Johnson was pulled on 3rd down on all 3 series he played last night -- twice for C.J. Anderson and once for Ty Johnson. @SmolaDS So it looks like he may not get the vacated Riddick touches.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Fournette was inefficient last year but we can chalk that up to awful quarterback play and all the injuries on the offensive line. What it truly comes down to here is whether or not he can stay on the field. If he can, Fournette should lead the league in touches and would have no trouble reaching double-digit TDs on his way to a top 8 fantasy RB finish.Kerryon is a popular early-round pick this year for many and while he may be talented, this offense is unlikely to produce enough points to give him much of a ceiling. What's more, is that Kerryon himself has said he isn't a three-down back and the Lions haven't used him on third downs this preseason so make of that what you will.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
All about health for Fournette. He was the #4 overall pick, so the Jaguars are really trying to justify that pick. He will be fed early and often and will be well worth his ADP if he stays healthy, but assuming his health is likely a fool's errand.Darren Bevell is the new OC. Darren Bevell likes to run. The sky is the limit for Kerryon now that Riddick is gone, as long as CJA does not carve out a significant role. KJ Had at least 85 yards in 5 of his last 6 games last season and developed into a consistent RB2. Has potential to increase his TD ouput after scoring only 4 times last season and to increase his receiving totals after going 32/213 in 10 games.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Fournette's backups - Alfred Blue, Thomas Rawls, and Benny Cunningham - aren't putting fear in anyone's heart. Health is the only concern here, as Fournette will see the volume necessary to make him a high-end RB2 when healthy. He's currently a nice value pick.Darrell Bevell's 12 seasons as an OC saw his offenses finish top 10 in rushing yards ten times. So Johnson should be good to go on the ground. The Lions also released Theo Riddick who saw 71 and 74 targets the last two years. Johnson's receiving pace last season was 341 and 2TDs WITH RIDDICK THERE. So Johnson should be good to go through the air. Basically, Johnson is good to go.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I've never been a fan of drafting Fournette. He's an extremely inefficient running back, and one day the Jaguars are going to realize that they're better without him. He's averaged 3.7 YPC over his career. Last season he generated a pathetic 0.99 yards created per carry, ranked 49th in breakaway percentage, 49th in elusiveness rating, 53rd in yards per carry after contact, and recorded just 9 carries of greater than 10 yards, and gained fewer than 3 yards on an incredible 51% of his carries. The Jaguars would win more games this season if they cut Leonard Fournette. The issue is that they won't. Then invested a high pick on him, so they're going to use him. And despite not being a good RB, he's going to produce for fantasy while he's on the field. Oh and that's another thing. He's missed 34% of his career games due to injuries and suspensions. He's suffered a knee bruise, multiple ankle strains, a quad bruise, and two pulled hamstrings. As you can probably tell, I don't like Fournette. So it pains me so much to say that you can actually draft him. There's absolutely no talent behind him, and the Jaguars organization has given me no reason to believe they will suddenly become competent. Fournette can be taken in the second round because of the volume he's set to receive, and the fact that no one will challenge him for touchesKJ was having a great rookie season before his injury. In that time he was 11th in breakaway percentage and 13th in yards per carry after contact. He was also the best RB on the Lions roster by a mile, ranking second in yards per carry compared to teammates (Scorr Barrett). The signing of C.J. Anderson is certainly annoying...and confusing...but I have full confidence that he'll command a large portion of the work in that backfield. KJ is also an exceptional pass catcher. He registered an 82% catch percentage, generating 32 receptions in 10 games, even with Theo on the roster. This season, the Lions cut Theo Riddick, meaning KJ will have the third down role completely to himself. Johnson has absolutely massive upside this season, and his only path to busting is through injury. I want him on my teams.
