Dan Harris
FantasyPros
The Jaguars spent most of the offseason trying to get away from Fournette and the result was that . . . they added Chris Thompson. Yes, that's going to mean a decline from the 76 receptions Fournette had last year, but normal regression would have led to a significant decrease in his target volume anyway. But Fournette also had the eighth-most rushing attempts inside the red zone last year and yet somehow scored only three touchdowns. His likely increase in finding the end zone should offset much of his loss of volume in the passing game, and combined should be enough to keep him as a fairly decent RB2 in fantasy leagues.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Biggest concern is not whether he'll see positive TD regression or take a major receptions hit with C. Thompson around, it's if JAX remains committed to him if/when losses pile upYour ranking may very depending on how much you think P. Lindsay will eat into Gordon's workload, the money is on the former Charger seizing a sizable advantage
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
After trying to trade him prior to the NFL Draft, Fournette appears destined to play for the Jaguars once again in 2020. With Jay Gruden calling the offense, they should be much more efficient this year, though Fournette's volume made him a great play throughout 2019. The only running backs who offered RB2 or better numbers more often than Fournette in 2019 were Christian McCaffrey, Ezekiel Elliott, Dalvin Cook, and Austin Ekeler. Do they go with more of a timeshare under Gruden? it's possible, but he should still offer low-end RB1 value. He left the Chargers at the right time, as they're going to be going through a transitional period. Instead, he joins a now-exciting Broncos offense that suddenly has tons of firepower. You don't add Gordon in free agency if you don't plan on using him as your lead back. The potential upside is that new offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has been a one-back kind of guy, so it's possible that Phillip Lindsay is just there to give Gordon breathers when he needs them. With Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, and Noah Fant out there are receiving threats, Gordon should see a lot of light fronts this year. He's a middling RB2 with RB1 upside if they decide to give him 15-plus touches per game.
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
Fournette is always one fo the trickest players in fantasy football. He's injury-prone and plays on a bad offense but at the same time, sees tremendous volume. The Jaguars did little to improve the backfield this year which would only indicate they are confident in Fournette being the bell cow. Injuries will always be a concern but at his current ADP, Fournette is a solid value. The Broncos backfield looks like it could be the trickiest one to figure out in all of football. They paid to bring in Gordon but still roster a young and highly-talented RB in Phillip Lindsay. I see this being a near 50/50 split which is never a good thing for fantasy owners.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
365 touches last season and only 57 evaded tackles. 90th in fantasy points per opportunity. Jay Gruden brought in his guy Chris Thompson to catch passes out of the backfield.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Fournette is the unquestioned lead back for a NFL team, which is always going to equate to fantasy impact. With that being said, he has a limited ceiling and it's hard to see a path where Fournette finishes as a top-15 RB this season.Gordon's going to be splitting time with Phillip Lindsay this season, but Gordon should be the lead back in this offense. The Broncos are going to want to run the ball and Gordon should easily see over 210 carries this year. He's a solid RB2 option for your fantasy rosters.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Leonard Fournette only scored three rushing touchdowns in 2019, but they accounted for every rushing score for the Jaguars. Those three rushing touchdowns were the lowest from a team since the 2005 Cardinals. Only 13 other teams in NFL history finished with that low of a total. (@LateRoundQB) I don't completely expect Fournette to stay as healthy as he did last year, but we should see some TD regression in 2020. In 2019 he set career highs in: games played: 15, rush yards: 1152, rushing 1st downs: 52, yards per att: 4.3, targets: 100, receptions: 76, receiving yards: 522, total touches: 341, total yards: 1674... for 6-10 team (@DFFMemphis)
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
If Leonard Fournette remains the Jags workhorse RB he could be one of the bargains of the season. Often available in the third round, he offers league-winning upside in an attack with plenty of points in it. The risk is clearly high with the possibility the Jags go full rebuild and give Ryquell Armstead a proper crack or get forced to chase games. The upside is massive too though. Fournette finish RB9 with 1600+ yards but only 3 TDs in 2019. That's stupidly low and makes no sense given he had 57 red zone touches which is very high. Somehow, he only converted 5% of those looks, well down on his previous efforts of 25%. Regression to his TD average and a repeat of last season's yardage would mean 290 points and a top 5 finish. Take the gamble!Melvin Gordon to the Broncos is not as bad as most think. Gordon was clearly losing his role to Austin Ekeler and he now moves to an impressive run offence where he should be the clear lead guy. While Lindsay will clearly have a role, I expect Gordon to take the goal line carries, the 3rd down work and at least half of the between the tackles stuff making him the clear value in Denver. Given the Broncos backs combined for over 350 carries and 78 receptions, there's a lot of points to go around and Gordon should get the bulk of it. If Lindsay goes down there's always a chance he's a league winner too so the upside is there. Take a chance on him in the late 3rd round.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
No matter what you think of Fournette, touching the ball 341 times, and only getting 3TDs is not sustainable, in a good way. I don't have a problem thinking Chris Thompson or Laviska take away a significant amount of targets, I just need the TDs to normalize to get ROI.1 year to go off because Vic, and his OC Scangarello don't have much history at their current positions. Denver was an average ball running team in 2019. 409 attempts. The 100 RB targets were nice. Someone is going to disappear out of this offense. I think it's assumed to be Royce, I can believe that, but what roll do they plan on losing Lindsay in? Breather back? He can not pass block, Royce is the best on the team for that. So Lindsay now appears to lose out in every phase, one way or another to his teammates, might see less work than anticipated.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Fournette was strong when it comes to yards from scrimmage (1,674), but he had only 3 touchdowns. Fournette was actively shopped during the NFL Draft. The Jaguars are not going to have much patience with him not performing well this year, which makes him a risky fantasy player. When Gordon is healthy, he is capable of 1,500 yards from scrimmage and double digit touchdowns. He should be the lead back in Denver, but it will be a very crowded RBBC.
