FantasyPros
Fournette was extremely frustrating, as he battled injuries, suspension, a bad attitude and inconsistent production. He's a low-end RB2 that must prove that he can be a bell cow back in Jacksonville.Michel had a breakout postseason and that could carry over to a strong 2019 season. He does have some knee issues, but he should still be a solid RB3 with RB2 upside in 2019.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Everyone remembers what they last saw, which is why Fournette is dropping down draft boards. The last time fantasy owners saw him play, he totaled just 126 rushing yards and one touchdown over his last three games. What they don't know is that the Jaguars offensive line was missing 4-of-5 starters at the end of the year. Fournette is locked into 20 touches per week, which is extremely odd to find at the start of the third-round, which is where you can get him 90 percent of the timeIt was a solid rookie year for Michel, who finished as the RB28 despite missing three full games. The issue with expecting a massive jump in production is his lack of usage in the passing game (just seven receptions in 13 games), and the third-round draft pick of Damien Harris, as he's a threat to steal some early-down work. Still, Michel should provide RB2 value as long as he's healthy
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
I'm lower than the industry on Fournette by a long shot - I just don't like the history of soft tissue injuries, the punishing rush style (he too has to absorb what he dishes out) and the suspect O-line in front of himAdmittedly, there's some fear of his balky knee, and a little usage uncertainty with Belichick's history of pulling the backfield strings, but his preseason's been strong and the backfield is lucrative (NE top 6 in RB half-PPR FAN PTS each of past 4 seasons)
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Fournette's talent and role remain underrated. He needs to be more efficient, but perhaps a quarterback that isn't horrendous can help that.Michel was great last year, but he's had some health questions and New England has approximately one thousand running backs. He should be higher, but I can't do it.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Between injuries and ineffectiveness, things were trending down as last season wore on. But all the signs are there for a bounceback. Fournette dropped significant weight this offseason, and the offense should be a bit more explosive with Blake Bortles out and Nick Foles in. Fournette has been more involved in the passing game this preseason, so fantasy owners could be looking at a huge bounceback effort. That's assuming Fournette avoids injury, which has been difficult for him to do throughout his young career.Michel dealt with a preseason knee injury that bothered him some during the season, but he came on during the fantasy (and real-life) playoffs, showing his upside. When the Patriots spent a third-round pick on Damien Harris, fantasy owners got worried, but Harris reportedly has not gotten many reps this summer. The backfield in New England is still crowded with James White and Rex Burkhead, but with no Rob Gronkowksi, the Patriots are likely to lean on the run a bit more. That makes Michel an RB2, though one that is better in standard formats.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2018, Fournette ranked 12th in fantasy points per game (15.1) and seventh in touches per game (19.4). Leonard Fournette is going to get a lot of opportunity in DeFilippo's scheme. "I'll know a little bit more after this week in terms of how many plays he gets winded and all those things in a game-like atmosphere," DeFilippo said of the third-year running back. "But I know Leonard's goals. Leonard's goal is to be the best back in this league, and unique star players play a lot of football. So, to me, he needs to play and so that's where we're at with that." Jaguars.com
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
All about health for Fournette. He was the #4 overall pick, so the Jaguars are really trying to justify that pick. He will be fed early and often and will be well worth his ADP if he stays healthy, but assuming his health is likely a fool's errand.Check out my article on BRotofantasy.com regarding Michel's inflated ADP. He was very much a game script RB with no passing game involvement last season and there is nothing that says that will not remain the same this season. He also has degenerative knee issues and has never played even half the offensive snaps in a game.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Fournette's backups - Alfred Blue, Thomas Rawls, and Benny Cunningham - aren't putting fear in anyone's heart. Health is the only concern here, as Fournette will see the volume necessary to make him a high-end RB2 when healthy. He's currently a nice value pick.
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
chronic knee issues mean he could miss games. Damien Harris puts pressure on him. not ideal in any sort of PPR. he's more valuable in Best Ball as he will consolidate his value into several games he goes off
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Fournette was inefficient last year but we can chalk that up to awful quarterback play and all the injuries on the offensive line. What it truly comes down to here is whether or not he can stay on the field. If he can, Fournette should lead the league in touches and would have no trouble reaching double-digit TDs on his way to a top 8 fantasy RB finish.Sony has plummeted down draft boards with the drafting of Damien Harris and multiple reports about concerns revolving Michel's knee. These are both scary for fantasy owners, but the price has now dropped low enough that you can afford to take a risk on someone with legitimate top 10 running back upside in this great Patriots' offense.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I've never been a fan of drafting Fournette. He's an extremely inefficient running back, and one day the Jaguars are going to realize that they're better without him. He's averaged 3.7 YPC over his career. Last season he generated a pathetic 0.99 yards created per carry, ranked 49th in breakaway percentage, 49th in elusiveness rating, 53rd in yards per carry after contact, and recorded just 9 carries of greater than 10 yards, and gained fewer than 3 yards on an incredible 51% of his carries. The Jaguars would win more games this season if they cut Leonard Fournette. The issue is that they won't. Then invested a high pick on him, so they're going to use him. And despite not being a good RB, he's going to produce for fantasy while he's on the field. Oh and that's another thing. He's missed 34% of his career games due to injuries and suspensions. He's suffered a knee bruise, multiple ankle strains, a quad bruise, and two pulled hamstrings. As you can probably tell, I don't like Fournette. So it pains me so much to say that you can actually draft him. There's absolutely no talent behind him, and the Jaguars organization has given me no reason to believe they will suddenly become competent. Fournette can be taken in the second round because of the volume he's set to receive, and the fact that no one will challenge him for touchesHonestly, I can't justify drafting Sony this season. Not only did the Patriots draft another RB early this season, but his knee is a concern. He's suffered a torn ACL, a fractured shoulder blade, multiple ankle sprains, a fractured forearm and three separate knee strains. Sony, unsurprisingly, has the second highest chance of injury this season according to sports injury predictor. You can also add volume reduction to his risk. We know that White is going to get most of the passing down work, and that Harris is going to take some of the early down work away from him. This backfield is very similar to that of Washington. Assuming everyone stays healthy, Sony isn't going to pay off his ADP. He would need a Damien Harris injury to be anything more than a TD upside FLEX play. Yet he's being drafted as a mid range RB 2. Save yourself the headache and just stay away from Sony this season.
