Size, speed, vision, hands and, oh boy, that jump cut - 406 touches in '17 was the 3rd-highest mark in the past 11 seasons, just wish more of those touches would come inside 5-yard line (just 14 such carries over past 3 seasons)Will be very hard to repeat TD rate (13 TDs from scrimmage on 201 touches), but he's a magician in space and he's in an offense that accentuates his special hybrid talents
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Despite having a less-successful year than his 2016 campaign, Bell still finished No. 2 among fantasy running backs. His contract dispute is not going away any time soon, which moves him down under Todd Gurley due to safety. We fully expect Bell to suit-up when the lights come on in Week 1, but there's always a chance he doesn't. Another added risk is that he'll have a new offensive coordinator in 2018, though Randy Fichtner doesn't appear to be shy running a fast-paced offense.Did you know that Kamara scored more fantasy points on just his receiving totals than Amari Cooper, Sammy Watkins, and Jordy Nelson did in 2017? His 826 yards and five touchdowns would've ranked 24th among wide receivers. We're talking about a running back. Even if we dial back some of his efficiency, the suspension of Mark Ingram can give him some touches to help compensate. It's only natural that a player going into year two would receive more touches, anyway. The over/under for his touch total should be around 250 this year.
Staff Rankings
QB List
I know a lot of people would put Todd Gurley here and I wouldn't blame them at all. But I tend to be risk-averse in fantasy, and I think some regression is coming for Gurley, which is why I'm more inclined to roll with a high-floor guy like Bell. I'm not worried about Bell sitting out training camp, he did the same thing last year and he was amazing, posting 1,315 yards and a solid 7.9% DVOA along with that. Not only that, but Bell is on the last year of his contract, and I'm betting he doesn't negotiate an extension. As a result, I bet the Steelers run him as hard as they can, and the more times Bell has the ball in his hands, the better for fantasy players.Alvin Kamara was amazing last year. Given that Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson were in the Saints' backfield, he was generally thought of as a nice PPR guy with some upside, and he ended up exploding last year for 917 rushing yards and 738 receiving yards, and that's after barely being used in the first three weeks of the season. He also finished the year leading the league with a ridiculous 44.5% DVOA and gets to run behind a Saints offensive line that finished top in the league in open field yards and third in the league in second-level yards, which means big plays should come for Kamara. With Ingram suspended for the first four games of the season, expect another big year for Kamara.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Bell's contract will be a talking point until it isn't, but he will most likely be on the field for Week 1 as a Pittsburgh Steeler, and that's a good spot for him and his fantasy prospects, as his usage numbers are tremendous and his offensive line knows how to block for him.Kamara did a lot with just 202 overall touches last season, so there is, of course, a chance he will regress on his per-touch basis, but the fact that he saw over 100 targets keeps me believing he'll have trouble falling from his overall numbers. Two hundred touches, when they come at the right time and with the Saints creating space for him to work, plus four weeks without Mark Ingram, are good enough for me to feel safe about a repeat performance.
Jody Smith
FantasyPros
This is likely to be Bell's last season in Pittsburgh, so expect the Steelers to give him all the touches he can handle, making Bell a candidate for the No. 1 PPR scorer of 2018. The Saints may double Kamara's workload in September and if he can come close to repeating his insane efficiency from last year, Kamara will contend for fantasy MVP honors.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
The league's truest featured back, Bell played a whopping 945 snaps last season. No other rusher recorded 800. He parlayed a gargantuan 406 touches into 1,946 yards and 11 TDs in 15 games. That weighty workload puts him firmly in the No. 1-pick conversation, and he especially should not fall any lower than No. 2 in PPR formats. The reasons to draft Kamara: He ranked first in rushing DVOA, points per snap, and points per opportunity while averaging 6.1 YPC with an 81.0 catch %. He averaged 21.7 PPR PPG in 12 games after the Saints jettisoned Adrian Peterson, and Mark Ingram will serve a four-game suspension to start 2018. So how isn't the superbly talented playmaker an early no-brainer? His 45-percent snap count matches that of Tevin Coleman and Theo Riddick, and he never handled more than a dozen rushes in a game. Any TD regression could turn Kamara into an overpay, but it's hard to blame anyone who bets on his off-the-charts skills.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Contract talks are annoying, so I'm dropping Bell slightly, but he's still a top 5 lock as long as he doesn't sit games outMark Ingram's suspension opens the door to a truly epic year for Kamara. He'll be a beast even when Ingram returns, although he's a slightly better fantasy option in PPR formats.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
to all my Steeler fans, my desire always has been to retire a Steeler...both sides worked extremely hard today to make that happen, but the NFL is a hard business at times...to the fans that had hope, I'm sorry we let youu down but trust me, 2018 will be my best season to date... @LeVeonBell 400+ touches last year, regression in production is most likely scenario. There is no way Kamara matches last years efficiency, but with Ingram out the first four weeks Kamara should see the volume needed to make up for the regression in efficiency over the course of the season.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
The sentiment for drafting Bell first overall is fair and understandable, but he is substantially more injury prone than Gurley and finished more than 60 points behind him last fantasy season too. With that said, the difference between Bell and the #3 fantasy player may be larger than the difference between #3 and #10.If you are expecting Kamara to turn into a workhorse with Ingram out the first four games, or even the entire season, you may want to consider that he never saw more than 12 carries in any game last year. His ceiling is limited as a result, plus his touchdown rate is certain to come crashing back down to earth. Still, he is a first rounder without a doubt.
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Bell was given the franchise tag and he averaged 17.4 fantasy points per game last year playing under the tag. He is a duel-threat runner and receiver that can dominate fantasy games. Kamara is a very special player and with QB Drew Brees re-signing in New Orleans, Kamara should be a Top-5 fantasy option, especially with RB Mark Ingram suspended for the first 4 games of the regular season.
