Size, speed, vision, hands and, oh boy, that jump cut - 406 touches in '17 was the 3rd-highest mark in the past 11 seasons, just wish more of those touches would come inside 5-yard line (just 14 such carries over past 3 seasons)Has 25 TDs and 19 weekly top 12 RB finishes in 25 career games - if talk of increased usage in pass game comes to fruition, EzE will give Gurley and Bell a run for their money
Staff Rankings
QB List
I know a lot of people would put Todd Gurley here and I wouldn't blame them at all. But I tend to be risk-averse in fantasy, and I think some regression is coming for Gurley, which is why I'm more inclined to roll with a high-floor guy like Bell. I'm not worried about Bell sitting out training camp, he did the same thing last year and he was amazing, posting 1,315 yards and a solid 7.9% DVOA along with that. Not only that, but Bell is on the last year of his contract, and I'm betting he doesn't negotiate an extension. As a result, I bet the Steelers run him as hard as they can, and the more times Bell has the ball in his hands, the better for fantasy players. That six-game suspension last year hung over Elliott's draft status like a massive specter, and it ended up coming at an awful time during Weeks 10-15. Still, Elliott was excellent last year, as you would expect, finishing the year with an 11.9% DVOA (good for eighth-best in the league) and he's got a full season ahead of him behind one of the best offensive lines in football (who got even better by drafting Connor Williams). If the Cowboys offensive line has one weakness, it's that their relatively mediocre in second-level and open field yards, but that's a minor complaint. Expect Elliott to have an excellent year this year, especially in non-PPR leagues.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Bell's contract will be a talking point until it isn't, but he will most likely be on the field for Week 1 as a Pittsburgh Steeler, and that's a good spot for him and his fantasy prospects, as his usage numbers are tremendous and his offensive line knows how to block for him.Elliott has to be in consideration for the No. 1 slot as well, as he averaged around the same amount of fantasy points per game as Bell. Elliott's only downfall compared to Bell is that he doesn't see the same amount of work in the receiving game. Thankfully for this season, he should see a boost in targets, as the Cowboys have very few talented receivers.
Jody Smith
FantasyPros
This is likely to be Bell's last season in Pittsburgh, so expect the Steelers to give him all the touches he can handle, making Bell a candidate for the No. 1 PPR scorer of 2018. Elliott put up top-10 fantasy numbers in only 10 games last season. An expected increase in receptions will allow Zeke to give Gurley a run for his money as fantasy football's top player.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
The league's truest featured back, Bell played a whopping 945 snaps last season. No other rusher recorded 800. He parlayed a gargantuan 406 touches into 1,946 yards and 11 TDs in 15 games. That weighty workload puts him firmly in the No. 1-pick conversation, and he especially should not fall any lower than No. 2 in PPR formats. It would be an upset if anyone besides Elliott leads the league in rushes this year. He fielded 242 carries in 10 game, consistently shouldering the burden with 20-plus handoffs for at least 80 yards in all but one contest. Dak Prescott could also lean on his bruising back more in the passing game after losing Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, making Elliott one of first round's safest investment.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Despite having a less-successful year than his 2016 campaign, Bell still finished No. 2 among fantasy running backs. His contract dispute is not going away any time soon, which moves him down under Todd Gurley due to safety. We fully expect Bell to suit-up when the lights come on in Week 1, but there's always a chance he doesn't. Another added risk is that he'll have a new offensive coordinator in 2018, though Randy Fichtner doesn't appear to be shy running a fast-paced offense. The good news is that the Cowboys offensive line has been replenished in both free agency and the draft. The bad news is that there's little talent surrounding Elliott, which could prove to make life difficult on him. While Dez Bryant and Jason Witten weren't in their primes, they demanded attention from opposing defensive coordinators. Unfortunately, Terrance Williams and Allen Hurns don't. Elliott will get all the work he can handle, which is important but just how efficient can he be?
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Contract talks are annoying, so I'm dropping Bell slightly, but he's still a top 5 lock as long as he doesn't sit games outZeke should make up for last year's suspension with a monster year.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
to all my Steeler fans, my desire always has been to retire a Steeler...both sides worked extremely hard today to make that happen, but the NFL is a hard business at times...to the fans that had hope, I'm sorry we let youu down but trust me, 2018 will be my best season to date... @LeVeonBell 400+ touches last year, regression in production is most likely scenario. After only playing a very distracted 10 games last year Zeke still ended up being the third best RB in PPR ppg. I think Zeke will be playing with a chip on his shoulder and fresh legs. I hate the Cowboys, but Zeke is gonna EAT!!!
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
The sentiment for drafting Bell first overall is fair and understandable, but he is substantially more injury prone than Gurley and finished more than 60 points behind him last fantasy season too. With that said, the difference between Bell and the #3 fantasy player may be larger than the difference between #3 and #10.Despite missing six games last year, Zeke managerd to still be a top 10 running back. Believe it or not, he scored more standard league points per game than even Le'Veon Bell. So long as he is able to stay healthy, we are looking at one of the top five assets in fantasy football once again.
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Bell was given the franchise tag and he averaged 17.4 fantasy points per game last year playing under the tag. He is a duel-threat runner and receiver that can dominate fantasy games. Elliott missed six games with suspension in 2017, but when he played, he averaged 17.9 fantasy points per game. He finished 17 yards shy of a 1,000 yard season, despite playing only 10 games. He is an elite fantasy option entering his 3rd season.
