The most patient runner in all of football. He's an absolute joy to watch. 300 carries, 50 catches, 10 TDs. What more can you ask for?
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Had Le'Veon been active for all 16 games, his pace would have put him at over 2,500 all purpose yards. Don't buy too much into the fact that he has several injuries, as all running backs inevitably will. Rather, consider that if he remains healthy, he will carry you to the playoffs.Gordon had a tremendous sophomore season after putting up a donut for rookie season touchdowns. With an improved offensive line, it only makes sense that he would be able to maintain his level of production. Granted, he wasn't the most efficient running back and Keenan Allen is coming back, but he is still expected to be among the most reliable RBs in terms of touches this season.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
"Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will report back to team before regular season kicks off, though it remains unclear exactly when." Bell values himself at about $15mm per year, your move Rooney. https://twitter.com/pyro_hartbeat/status/898624591072862208 https://twitter.com/pyro_hartbeat/status/898232466686697472 There is no doubt Bell is the RB1 when he is active, this hold-out makes me nervous. He might be staying in shape, but there is no way to really simulate game-speed without actually participating with the team. He missed 3 games last year and came in shredding defenses, but that is much different than missing camp completely. They drafted two offensive guards early which should bolster their run game as soon as the line develops continuity. Woodhead is gone so Gordon should be able to have the same amount of touches as last year, or more. The question is, can he stay healthy?
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
If Bell can stay on the field for all 16 games, it's quite possible that we see him break total yardage records. He's still yet to have a game in his NFL career with fewer than 7.8 PPR points. There's actually been just three of his 47 games with fewer than 10.9 PPR points.Despite averaging a mediocre 4.0 yards per carry heading into his Week 14 matchup where he hurt his knee, Gordon was sitting as the No. 3 fantasy running back. The Chargers have one of the most difficult passing schedules in the league, but also have receivers to pull defenders out of the box. Gordon should build on his 2016 season.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
The top spot is a fight between Bell and David Johnson this season, and I'm giving a slight edge to Bell. The Steelers should come back strong in 2017 and get some help back on offense, which should keep Bell in good spots all season long.Gordon was a touchdown machine last season, but also showed ability outside of the goal line, especially in the receiving game. With Danny Woodhead in Baltimore, Gordon's receptions should keep him near the top of the fantasy points.

QB List
There is a significant contingent of fantasy enthusiasts who make a persuasive argument that Bell should be the top RB in fantasy football in 2017. He has more years of solid production on his resume. He plays for a better offense on paper and his team is much more balanced. He has a better offensive line. These are all true, However, Bell carries risk that Johnson does not. In his four years in the league, he has only played a whole season once (2014) due to a mixture of injuries and off field issue related suspensions. Still, the upside is there, his 19.95 points per game in 2016 were only a hair shy of Johnson's 20.4, and that was in a year where Bell only scored 9 TDs, a number which is due for some serious positive regression. If Bell falls past pick 1.2 in your league, you are either playing with idiots, or you live in Baltimore.Melvin Gordon was the only top-ten running back in 2016 to have fewer than 1000 yards rushing. He makes his money in the form of touchdowns. Sweet, sweet touchdowns. It's a nice way to make a living, but it's risky, since touchdown rates can vary quite a bit from year to year. Still, Gordon plays on a high octane passing offense with plenty of opportunities in the red zone. He makes a fine choice in 2016.
Sablich Brothers
5th Down Fantasy
Finished second in RB targets despite three-game suspension; has missed 14 games over three seasons from injuries and suspensions; offense has scary potential with Bell, Roethlisberger, Brown and Bryant all on the field for first time since 2014. Was able to contribute to passing game after Woodhead injury; 3.9 YPC 28th in NFL (min 100 carries); offensive line should be better but still a question (ranked 21st PFF.com).
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
The Steelers gave the franchise tag to Bell, so he will be in Pittsburgh at least through 2017. The only reason I have him behind Elliot and Johnson is durability concerns and two prior suspensions under the league's substance abuse policy. Gordon was a star this year with 997 yards rushing, 419 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns in just 13 games. He should be the bell cow back in this offense in 2017, but I don't think he has elite RB1 upside with the season-ending injury to rookie G Forest Lamp.
Brandon Funston
Fantasy Spin
Most talented overall RB in the game? Yeah, probably. But, be it injury, weed or (this year) contract issues, there always seems to be some baggage that comes withBefore a hip injury derailed his '17 season in W14, he delivered a remarkably consistent top 20 RB performance in 12 of 13 games leading up to the injury (and he was 24th in his one top 20 miss) - offseason additions at O-line (Okung, Lamp) and head coach (former RB coach Anthony Lynn) should only help keep Gordon's stock heading in the right direction
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Bell is a monster but his contract issue and constant suspension/injury woes always concern me. That all still can't keep him from being a top 3 RB.Gordon could pick up where he left off a year ago, which could be scary - in a good way

With no injuries or suspensions to worry about, Bell could average 30 points per game in PPR leagues. Auction Value $52New Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn will see to it that Gordon is a Top 5 Fantasy back in 2017. Auction Value $42

Le'Veon is either going to get a long-term deal before July 17 or be tagged with a 12.1 million franchise tender. Either way, he'll be out to remind everyone who the best running back in the league is. On a PPG basis you can't do better--but Bell comes with more injury risk than Johnson so he slides in at #2 for me.
