Lineups
Le'Veon Bell's first season in New York did not go according to plan as he rushed for under 800 yards and just 3 touchdowns despite playing 15 games. The offensive line hasn't really gotten markedly better this offseason and I don't expect a massive improvement in the rushing efficiency for Bell. However, he had 66 receptions last season and his heavy pass-catching involvement makes him a safe, low-end RB2.It feels like I'm the only one who's still in on Sony Michel for this season. Yes, he's injured, and yes, the Patriots offense is going to get worse without Tom Brady. However, Bill Belichick made Michel a first-round pick and has given him the full workload for the majority of his time on the field. If Michel can stay healthy, he should benefit from playing next to a mobile QB in Cam Newton, and he could easily surpass 250 touches.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Michel has justifiably fallen out of favor for fantasy owners after yet another sub-par year, and there's little excitement about him this year. He has averaged nearly 16 carries per game in his career, however, and may be asked to carry more of a load now that Tom Brady is no longer under center. But his upside is limited by his complete lack of involvement in the passing game, as he has just 31 targets and 19 receptions over his 29 career games. In standard scoring leagues, there's a chance he may be slightly undervalued given that Damien Harris was placed on IR and Lamar Miller was released, but it would be hard to rely on him as anything more than a bench player in or half- or full-PPR leagues. That's especially true given his foot surgery in May which could impact him early in the season.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
For the majority of Bell's time in Pittsburgh, he benefited from the Steelers' offensive line consistently opening huge holes. That wasn't the case last year, as the Jets' atrocious line was unable to block effectively for Bell's blend of patience and twitch.Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels prefers a running scheme heavy on gap blocking, and Michel is a great fit for that approach. It's his lack of involvement in the passing game that will continue to limit his fantasy upside, especially in PPR leagues.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
You're going to see Bell fall down draft boards this year, and further than he should. That's odd for me to say, as Bell was someone I was avoiding like the plague in drafts. The difference? Expectations. Playing him as your first-round pick in your RB1 slot was never something anyone should've expected, especially behind that offensive line and in Gase's offense. While he's still stuck in Gase's offense, the offensive line was upgraded quite a bit this offseason, which should allow Bell more room to work. Even if he repeated his 2019 performance, that's RB2 production. There were just 11 running backs who produced RB2 or better numbers more often than him. Sure, he didn't have a ton of weekly upside, but he was safe. Now coming off the board outside the top three rounds, Bell is a value play. After a somewhat disappointing rookie campaign where he failed to finish as a top-24 running back despite racking up 209 carries in the high-scoring Patriots offense, Michel had an even worse sophomore campaign, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry and scoring just seven touchdowns on 259 touches. The Patriots spent a first-round pick on him, so he'll be given every opportunity to succeed, but they won't allow him to be inefficient much longer with Damien Harris waiting in the wings. Michel simply hasn't been the player we watched at Georgia. It's hard to see losing Tom Brady actually help him become more efficient. Not only that, but he now has to worry about Cam Newton stealing goal-line touches.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Le'Veon Bell once again proved that situation often trumps talent for running backs, as a mediocre O-line and Adam Gase led to a Derrick Henry level of volume (10 fewer touches) for 100 fewer fantasy points. Bell has massive room for improvement though, as he has no true competition (sorry La'Mical) and huge regression upside. Bell's never been a high TD guy or overly efficient but 4 yards per carry and 8 total TDs isn't an unreasonal expectation and that would mean a top 10 finish. Bump those up a little and he becomes a league winner. He's a great third round gamble you can pair with any of the riskier RBs like Fournette, Drake, Carson, CEH and Sanders. The Damien Harris hype is building as Sony Michel battles to be ready for Week 1. He's becoming more of a low-upside gamble by the day but will provide some upside if you get him late enough in drafts.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Put up a RB1-2 point total at the 13th highest rate, despite only 4 total TDs on 311 touches, and a bottom 3 run blocking unit. Only had 9 10 zone attempts, which lines up with a 31st ranked scoring offense. Will it all be that bad again?I've had 475 total touches in my first 2 years despite missing 3 games, but have finished as RB28, and 29 in those 2 years. Who am I? And why am I so bad?
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Bell mentioned he's in better football shape, let's hope that's true. If Gase feeds him in the passing game he will return RB2 numbers.

Dalton Kates
APEX Fantasy Leagues
Bell had workhorse touches last year, but was inefficient in a bad offense. Year 2 with the Jets should allow for improvement in that category and he should still be a massive focal point in the offense. Not much competition and Bell has proven in the past to be one of the best backs in the league.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
After a disappointing 2019 season, Bell is in need of a major bounce-back season which could be difficult considering he's playing on the Jets offense. I don't see Bell getting too many opportunities near the goal which means he'll have to rely heavily on his receiving numbers to be worthy of his ADP.Few players are more difficult to gauge than Sony Michel. He can score three TD's one week and then have a total of 26 yards the next. In PPR formats he simply doesn't see the ball enough to considered a starter.

Volume remains elite, but it's going to take a leap of faith that improvements to the NYJ O-line and Bell's conditioning will catapult him back into the RB1 class

No thanks. No thanks. No thanks. There's no hidden value here. This is a guy who averaged 3.7 yards per carry on a decent offense last year and has never surpassed 7 TDs in a season. With the best goal-line running QB in NFL history leading the way now, Michel is best left off of your squad.

Bell should benefit from the Jets adding T Mekhi Becton and WR Denzel Mims in the NFL Draft. They also added RB La'Mical Perine in the 4th round and RB Frank Gore in free agency, but neither should not be a huge threat to Bell's touches this season.

Adam Gase seems intent on taking the ball out of Bell's hands and splitting the work among his other running backs. Frank Gore and Lamical Perine are both going to eat into Bell's touches and it's going to limit his production. Bell is nothing more than a low-end RB2 in this Jets offense, despite being one of the more talented running backs in the NFL.With Cam Newton behind center, this offense is going to be much more potent than it would have been with Jarrett Stidham. This benefits Michel with more scoring opportunities and trips into the red zone. However, the downside is that Newton has the size and power to take away some of those goal line touches. Michel's nothing more than a RB3 this season, in my opinion.

One of the biggest risers of this offseason. Line was a major Draft and Free Agency focus, and Mims provides some more field stretching help. Could go a long way to a Bell rebound, although Gore has a history under Gase and could carve out an annoying GL role*Update - Latest foot surgery extra concerning* Perhaps the Pats go run-obsessed in the Post Brady era? Nothing to really dig in and love here in such a messy RBBC, and wouldn't be surprised if Damien Harris pushes for the big back this year much harder.

Last year there were only 3 RBs to have 240+ rushing attempts and 75+ targets. I think we would be expecting some "positive" regression for Bell, especially in the TD department, but it seems that Gase is a subscriber to the "RB's don't matter" philosophy. I expect Gore, Perine or one of the journeymen the Jets have horded to cut into Bell's upside.Michel recovering from foot surgery, per sources. The surgery was viewed as more maintenance-based to relieve discomfort. How Michel's rehab progresses will determine if he opens training camp on PUP. @MikeReiss - I don't think he starts the season on PUP. I'm like being able to get him in the 8th-9th round.
