FantasyPros
Three straight top-10 seasons to start your career? Not bad. The Saints are throwing the ball less and less which is why Thomas hasn't contended for the No. 1 spot in the wide receiver rankings, but he's steady and consistent, making him well worth a late first-round selectionIt was good to see Cooper go to Dallas and get consistent targets as that's something he was missing throughout his time in Oakland. He saw at least five targets in each of his nine games with the Cowboys, while seeing seven or more targets in 7-of-9 games. Because of that, he finished as the No. 4 wide receiver in fantasy from the time he joined them, behind only Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, and Julio Jones. He may not offer the consistency that those guys do, but not many do. Cooper should be on the low-end WR1 radar
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Only player in NFL history with 300+ catches over 1st 3 seasons - Had WR-high 85% catch rate on his 147 targets last season (since '92, no other WR with at least 100 targets has eclipsed 80%)You have to like what you saw from him in DAL - in 11 games, counting 2 playoff contests, he caught 66 passes for 896 yards and 7 TDs - dealing with heel strain, but apparently it's something he's managed to play through in the past
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
MT is about as efficient as they come and plays much of the year indoors with an accurate quarterback. Yeah, he's a top 5 guy.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Thomas has had an unreal efficiency throughout his career, and he's been incredibly consistent. He's never finished a season with fewer than 1,100 yards, and he had a superb 125 catches last year. With a lengthy contract extension taken care of, it should be business as usual for Thomas this year, and he should put up strong WR1 numbers as usual.Cooper was dynamic after a mid-season trade to the Cowboys and, absent injury concerns, he'd be a solid WR1 this year. But he has battled a foot injury all preseason, which has alternatively been referred to as plantar fasciitis, a strained heel, and a muscle strain. Whatever the injury is, it's clearly still bothering Cooper, and it's unclear if his availability for the Cowboys' first game is questionable. For now, fantasy owners should drop Cooper a few spots in their rankings. But don't let him slip too far absent word that his availability for the regular season is in doubt.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2017, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). In 2018, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). @ScottBarrettDFB Cooper has been dealing with plantar fascia irritation which has caused him to miss practice and the Cowboys last two preseason games. This is something that could linger and affect practice time but should not affect meaningful games. There are ways to get players thru game day. @ProFootballDoc
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
No one was more efficient with the targets they saw than Thomas last season. In fact, no one in NFL history has been that efficient. There is room for more, of course, if New Orleans decides to pepper him with targets, but they also don't throw much so that might just be wishful thinking.Cooper has put up some historical numbers to start his career despite playing in an awful offense that refused to throw him the ball. It was no wonder he exploded with a new offense and better quarterback despite learning the playbook on the fly. The ceiling is enormous in his first full season with Dallas but there is also quite a bit of unknown too, particularly his plantar fasciitis.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Thomas had 125 receptions for 1,405 yards and 9 touchdowns last season and he should be heavily targeted again in 2019.Cooper was a great addition to the Cowboys passing offense, but he is a little hit or miss in their run-heavy scheme. He is a low-end WR1 that should see a ton of targets in the passing game.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Yes, Coop was a stud with Prescott looking at the surface numbers, but look close and see that it was regular ol' Coop. In 9 games with the Cowboys, Cooper put up single digits 4 times, under 15 7 times, and two monster games where he put up around 35 and 45. The inconsistencies continued.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Amari Cooper's career high in TD's is 7. He's passed 1100 yards once. He's passed 75 catches once. He played 9 games for Dallas and put up FOUR games in which his stat line was less than or equal to 5/36/0. And you want to take him in the third round?
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
low floor attached to Brees, more weapons around him this year
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Michael Thomas has proven that he has some of the best (if not THE best) hands in the NFL. He's a focal point of the Sean Payton offense and the Saints did little to change that perception this offseason. My only concern is whether or not we've begun to see the beginning of the end of Drew Brees, but whether that's the case or not, Thomas will still be an elite PPR option.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I preach safety in the first 4 rounds...and it doesn get any safer than Michael Thomas He has the more receptions over his first 3 seasons than any player in the history of the NFL. And he's first by 33 receptions! He also has the third most fantasy points ever over that stretch of time, behind just Randy Moss and Odell. Over his first three seasons he's averaged 107/1,262/7.67 TD's, including 125.1405/9 last season, which was the 4th highest approximate value of any WR ever Thomas has also been a model of health, missing just one game in his career. This sort of floor/upside combination shouldn't be available in the early second round. Thomas has finished as the WR 7/6/6 over the last three years, but I think this is the year that he finishes in the top 3. And honestly, he could easily end up as the WR 1I love Amari Cooper this season. He's finally out of Oakland, and in a place where he can see consistent volume. Dak Prescott is by no means an elite QB, but he's a big upgrade from Derek Carr. In the 9 games after being traded last season Cooper averaged 6/80/0.67. He was used in all areas of the field, and he showed his weekly upside with 2 games over 180 yards and 2 scores. He did all of this after being traded in the middle of the season. Receivers usually struggle when they change teams during an offseason, so the fact that he was able to produce right away is incredible. After a full Summer to train with the team, I expect Cooper to have some monster games this season. I'd be very excited to get Cooper in the third round. That's the point in the draft where you should have locked up two stud skill position players already. So capturing the weekly upside of Cooper on top of that is a no brainer.
