Lineups
The record-breaking, all-time receiving performance by Michael Thomas over the past couple of seasons has been astonishing. He's quite clearly been the best receiver in the league as of late and he even proved he can succeed without Drew Brees last season. The Thomas and Brees combination is the most productive in the league by various metrics. Don't be afraid to invest a 1st-round pick in what should be another phenomenal season for Thomas.I hate my ranking of Julio Jones at #5, but it has more to do with how much I like the players ahead of him rather than any knock on Jones. Last year was Julio's first without at least 1,400 yards since 2013. In every seasons where he played 16 games, and even a couple where he didn't, he's finished with 1,200+ yards. Julio is arguably the most consistent and reliable player in fantasy football, especially since the Falcons attempted the most passes in the NFL last year. The only issue for Julio has been inconsistencies in the touchdown department, something that doesn't appear likely to change at this point. Still, you can't go wrong with Julio in the first round.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
After a remarkably steady 2017 during which he only twice failed to reach 50 receiving yards in a game but only twice went over 100 receiving yards, Thomas had five 100-yard games in 2018. He then exploded last season, setting a single season NFL record with 149 receptions. Although his numbers are bound to regress, it won't be enough to knock him from the top WR spot.Jones disappointed fantasy owners who spent a first-round pick on him in fantasy drafts in '17, when he scored only three touchdowns. After rewarding owners that selected him in 2018 with eight touchdowns to go along with a league leading 1,676 receiving yards, his numbers slumped in 2019 before he delivered 23 catches for 300 yards and a pair of scores over Weeks 15 and 16.
Dalton Kates
APEX Fantasy Leagues
Elite WR with elite target share, elite QB play and elite efficiency in a top offense. No brainer top WR.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
There's a very good chance Michael Thomas won't repeat as the fantasy WR1 in 2020. In fact the WR1 hasn't repeated since 2014. But is anybody else more likely to top all receivers in 2020? Absolutely not! The reality is that it's really hard to consistently churn out league-winning fantasy performances but Michael Thomas is rightly the consensus WR1. You can safely take him anywhere between 1.03 in PPR and 1.06 in non-PPR without any complaints from me.WR6, WR2, WR6, WR4, WR5, WR3. Has anyone been more reliable in fantasy over the last six years? Julio Jones continues to churn out the numbers in this high powered Falcons offence. That's despite consistently low TD numbers and serious target competition in Calvin Ridley and Austin Hooper. While Ridley will undoubtedly continue to grow in this offense, Julio remains the superior player and with Hooper gone there's certainly room for both. Jones is often available early in the second round and that's spectacular value for a guy who's so reliable.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
I'm not sure how many realize how rare Thomas' season was in 2019. He saw 185 targets on a team that threw the ball just 581 times. That's a ridiculous 31.8 percent target share. Just so you know, it's rare for a receiver to see a 25 percent target share. I've already stated in the Drew Brees paragraph that I expect this offense to throw just a bit less in 2020. Initial projections have them around 560 pass attempts, so bringing that down to even a 28 percent target share would force Thomas to lose about 28 targets. You can see why a repeat of last year's numbers are unlikely, especially when you factor in the arrival of Emmanuel Sanders as a rock-solid No. 2 receiver who'll garner more targets than Ted Ginn and/or Tre'Quan Smith would've. Still, Thomas is my WR1 heading into the season, because outside of injury, he's projected as my top receiver by a full 15 half-PPR points.Fade aging wide receivers, they said. Julio laughs as he posted his sixth straight season with more than 1,390 yards. He still has just one season under his belt with double-digit touchdowns, which is quite ridiculous when you consider he's had three seasons with 1,500-plus yards. He's as safe as they come at the wide receiver position. Think 31 years old is too old? Check out this piece on what age a wide receiver declines. There are a lot of fantasy owners drafting Tyreek Hill over him, and while I understand the upside Hill presents on a weekly basis, Jones presents stability that Hill can only dream of. Hill has posted WR2 or better numbers in 21-of-43 games (48.8 percent) over his career. Meanwhile, Jones has hit that mark in 64.8 percent of his career games and has posted WR1-type numbers in 42.4 percent of them. Sure, Calvin Ridley is going to ascend, but a lot of his ascension comes from the missing targets from Mohamed Sanu. Jones should be the No. 3 wide receiver off draft boards, at worst.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
WR1 Set it & forget itBig play ability, consistency and the departure of Austin Hooper means more targets for Jones & Ridley
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Combination of route running, speed, and hands makes him the top threat underneath in football.Julio will Julio, until Julio isn't Julio. TD rate has to increase eventually, yardage total is Jerry Rice worthy every season.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Behind Davante Adams, you won't find a safer WR than Michael Thomas. He's essentially a lock for 100 receptions and has improved his TD numbers scoring nine in each of the last two seasons. If you're looking to go WR in the first, you can't go wrong with Thomas.Year in and year out Julio Jones proves to be one of the most incredible football players (not just WRs) in the NFL. His reception and yardage numbers are up there with the leagues best but unfortunately, he's always had a difficult time finding the end-zone. Only once in his nine-year career has he eclipsed 10 receiving TDs. His low TD numbers are the only reason he isn't an automatic top-3 WR.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Has 70 more catches, 116 more receiving yards than any other player in NFL history thru their first 4 seasonsWith all the vacated targets from last season's ATL offense, NOLA's M. Thomas might be the only WR in 2020 to hold a candle to Jones' target volume
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Tier of his own when comparing to other WRs. He is the alpha and clear #1.The age defying machine. Draft with confidence, especially if you can pair him with a first round RB.
Justin Dodds
Locked In Football
Last season, MT beat the WR2 by 67 fpts and 100 fpts in half PPR and PPR, respectively. Thomas lead over the next best in receptions by 45 and 28 in targets, all while also being without Drew Brees for nearly 6 full games. Expect this dominance to continue in 2020 as the Saints have added only Emmanuel Sanders to the offense, who currently isn't expected to be involved all that much being ECR WR45 in half PPR.
Derek Lofland

Thomas broke Marvin Harrison's single-season reception record with 149 receptions in 2019. He also had 1,725 yards receiving and 9 receiving touchdowns, despite QB Drew Brees missing 5 games. Thomas is the best fantasy receiver in football, especially if Brees returns to New Orleans in 2020.Jones is the model of consistency, his season has ended with him ranked 8th, 2nd, 6th, 6th, 5th, and 5th the last six seasons. He does turn 31-years old this off-season, but there is no reason to think he can't be an elite WR1 with QB Matt Ryan at the helm in 2020.

149/1725/9 . . . while playing with a backup QB for a good chunk of the season. That's all you need to know.Julio Jones had 1394 receiving yards last season, second in the league only to Michael Thomas, and that was his LOWEST yardage output since his rookie season in 2013. You can't find a more consistent player year-over-year and at 31 years old, he certainly still has enough left in him to stay at this level for another year.

Michael Thomas just put up the best season for a WR of all time and there's very little reason to doubt that he could put up another dominant performance in 2020. Even when Drew Brees went down, MT was still dominant with Teddy Bridgewater. Thomas is clearly the WR1 in drafts this season and it's not even close. If you want to build your fantasy team around Thomas, you're not going to find any complaints here...It's hard to find someone who's been as outstanding as Julio Jones over the past few years. Jones has finished as the WR5 or higher each of the past three seasons and he seems like a lock to repeat that type of performance again in 2020. This offense is going to air it out and Jones has yet to show any sign that he's losing a step at this point of his career. Feel confident in drafting Jones again as a top-5 option in 2020.

Averaging 117 receptions over his first 4 years. Not sure how you could rank him below 1 with Brees back.A monster. 6 year average of 162 targets, 103/1565/6. Now, if I were to find some chips in the Julio armor, his yards per reception were his lowest in a full season since 2015. His yards per target were a career low. This might be the beginning of the end, but I think he gives us a few more good years before that time, he's such a freak, and if I were to bet, he won't age like your standard big WR.

The only WR I consider among the elite horses.
