FantasyPros
Thomas had 125 receptions for 1,405 yards and 9 touchdowns last season and he should be heavily targeted again in 2019.Fournette was extremely frustrating, as he battled injuries, suspension, a bad attitude and inconsistent production. He's a low-end RB2 that must prove that he can be a bell cow back in Jacksonville.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Three straight top-10 seasons to start your career? Not bad. The Saints are throwing the ball less and less which is why Thomas hasn't contended for the No. 1 spot in the wide receiver rankings, but he's steady and consistent, making him well worth a late first-round selectionEveryone remembers what they last saw, which is why Fournette is dropping down draft boards. The last time fantasy owners saw him play, he totaled just 126 rushing yards and one touchdown over his last three games. What they don't know is that the Jaguars offensive line was missing 4-of-5 starters at the end of the year. Fournette is locked into 20 touches per week, which is extremely odd to find at the start of the third-round, which is where you can get him 90 percent of the time
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Only player in NFL history with 300+ catches over 1st 3 seasons - Had WR-high 85% catch rate on his 147 targets last season (since '92, no other WR with at least 100 targets has eclipsed 80%)I'm lower than the industry on Fournette by a long shot - I just don't like the history of soft tissue injuries, the punishing rush style (he too has to absorb what he dishes out) and the suspect O-line in front of him
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
MT is about as efficient as they come and plays much of the year indoors with an accurate quarterback. Yeah, he's a top 5 guy.Fournette's talent and role remain underrated. He needs to be more efficient, but perhaps a quarterback that isn't horrendous can help that.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Thomas has had an unreal efficiency throughout his career, and he's been incredibly consistent. He's never finished a season with fewer than 1,100 yards, and he had a superb 125 catches last year. With a lengthy contract extension taken care of, it should be business as usual for Thomas this year, and he should put up strong WR1 numbers as usual.Between injuries and ineffectiveness, things were trending down as last season wore on. But all the signs are there for a bounceback. Fournette dropped significant weight this offseason, and the offense should be a bit more explosive with Blake Bortles out and Nick Foles in. Fournette has been more involved in the passing game this preseason, so fantasy owners could be looking at a huge bounceback effort. That's assuming Fournette avoids injury, which has been difficult for him to do throughout his young career.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
In 2018, Fournette ranked 12th in fantasy points per game (15.1) and seventh in touches per game (19.4). Leonard Fournette is going to get a lot of opportunity in DeFilippo's scheme. "I'll know a little bit more after this week in terms of how many plays he gets winded and all those things in a game-like atmosphere," DeFilippo said of the third-year running back. "But I know Leonard's goals. Leonard's goal is to be the best back in this league, and unique star players play a lot of football. So, to me, he needs to play and so that's where we're at with that." Jaguars.com
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
All about health for Fournette. He was the #4 overall pick, so the Jaguars are really trying to justify that pick. He will be fed early and often and will be well worth his ADP if he stays healthy, but assuming his health is likely a fool's errand.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Fournette's backups - Alfred Blue, Thomas Rawls, and Benny Cunningham - aren't putting fear in anyone's heart. Health is the only concern here, as Fournette will see the volume necessary to make him a high-end RB2 when healthy. He's currently a nice value pick.
Sean Koerner
The Action Network
low floor attached to Brees, more weapons around him this year
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
No one was more efficient with the targets they saw than Thomas last season. In fact, no one in NFL history has been that efficient. There is room for more, of course, if New Orleans decides to pepper him with targets, but they also don't throw much so that might just be wishful thinking.Fournette was inefficient last year but we can chalk that up to awful quarterback play and all the injuries on the offensive line. What it truly comes down to here is whether or not he can stay on the field. If he can, Fournette should lead the league in touches and would have no trouble reaching double-digit TDs on his way to a top 8 fantasy RB finish.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Michael Thomas has proven that he has some of the best (if not THE best) hands in the NFL. He's a focal point of the Sean Payton offense and the Saints did little to change that perception this offseason. My only concern is whether or not we've begun to see the beginning of the end of Drew Brees, but whether that's the case or not, Thomas will still be an elite PPR option.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I preach safety in the first 4 rounds...and it doesn get any safer than Michael Thomas He has the more receptions over his first 3 seasons than any player in the history of the NFL. And he's first by 33 receptions! He also has the third most fantasy points ever over that stretch of time, behind just Randy Moss and Odell. Over his first three seasons he's averaged 107/1,262/7.67 TD's, including 125.1405/9 last season, which was the 4th highest approximate value of any WR ever Thomas has also been a model of health, missing just one game in his career. This sort of floor/upside combination shouldn't be available in the early second round. Thomas has finished as the WR 7/6/6 over the last three years, but I think this is the year that he finishes in the top 3. And honestly, he could easily end up as the WR 1I've never been a fan of drafting Fournette. He's an extremely inefficient running back, and one day the Jaguars are going to realize that they're better without him. He's averaged 3.7 YPC over his career. Last season he generated a pathetic 0.99 yards created per carry, ranked 49th in breakaway percentage, 49th in elusiveness rating, 53rd in yards per carry after contact, and recorded just 9 carries of greater than 10 yards, and gained fewer than 3 yards on an incredible 51% of his carries. The Jaguars would win more games this season if they cut Leonard Fournette. The issue is that they won't. Then invested a high pick on him, so they're going to use him. And despite not being a good RB, he's going to produce for fantasy while he's on the field. Oh and that's another thing. He's missed 34% of his career games due to injuries and suspensions. He's suffered a knee bruise, multiple ankle strains, a quad bruise, and two pulled hamstrings. As you can probably tell, I don't like Fournette. So it pains me so much to say that you can actually draft him. There's absolutely no talent behind him, and the Jaguars organization has given me no reason to believe they will suddenly become competent. Fournette can be taken in the second round because of the volume he's set to receive, and the fact that no one will challenge him for touches
