The Fantasy First Down
Mike Evans turned in his sixth consecutive 1000 yard season despite playing just 13 games and passing 100 yards on only three occasions. He once again mastered the blow-up game with each of those big games topping 180 yards and 30 half-ppr fantasy points. In best ball that makes him a great option but in redraft it makes him a terrifying weekly play if you draft him too early. That aspect locks him into his third-round price tag... or does it? Tom Brady is now in town and Evans could well benefit more than most realize. Brady still has a good deep ball and likes to unleash it on rare occasions when the receiver is good enough. Evans is always good enough. I like his upside but be wary of his weekly variance.Brandin Cooks was looking for his fifth consecutive 1000+ yard season in 2019 but instead ended up with his fifth consecutive concussion. This one kept him out for a few games but he was mostly ineffective when playing anyway, proving nothing more than a deep threat behind Woods, Kupp, Higbee and Gurley. Now in a re-modelled Texans receiving corps, Cooks will have the opportunity to fight it out with Will Fuller, Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills for targets. This offense has plenty of points in it but it far from guaranteed Cooks will get enough to make him a weekly fantasy starter. He's still injured going into the season opener too, adding another red flag.
Jacob Wayne
Lineups
Tampa Bay had an amazing fantasy football season as Jameis Winston helmed one of the highest-octane offenses despite his 30 interceptions. With Tom Brady under center, the offense will be much more conservative and less turnover-prone. That will mean they won't need to push the pace as much or throw as much as last year, hence the collective opinion on Evans being down. However, him slipping to the third round in some leagues is absurd. Evans has been one of the league's best receiver in the past six seasons - despite poor QB play, he's never had fewer than 1,000 yards in a season. The touchdowns have been a bit inconsistent, but Brady is a terrific red zone passer and the Tampa running backs may not be enough. Evans has had 12-touchdown seasons in the past and it wouldn't necessarily be a surprise to see him do it again. Don't overthink this - one of the best quarterbacks in the league is pairing up with one of the best receivers. Greatness should ensue.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Despite Bruce Arians replacing Dirk Koetter as Tampa's head coach in 2019, the Bucs' passing game looked similar to previous seasons. Arians hammers home the "no risk it, no biscuit" philosophy of attacking downfield, which plays to Evans' strengths. His numbers should benefit from the arrival of Tom Brady, who is a far more accurate passer than Jameis Winston.Acquired from the Rams in April, Cooks will be tasked with helping to fill the void created by Houston's March trade of DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona. Coming off a season in which he averaged a career-worst 41.6 receiving yards per game with a career-low two touchdowns, Cooks is the most likely candidate to emerge as Houston's top receiving option in 2020.

In just 13 games in 2019, Evans had 6 games with fewer than double-digit fantasy points in half-PPR. His weekly upside is huge, but his floor is too low for an ADP this high. Addtionally, according to AirYards.com, Evans' average depth of target (aDOT) has been 14.0-plus in each of his six seasons in the league. Now he's playing with Brady, a passer whose aDOT is generally under 8.0 these days.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There are a lot of people who'll point out the fact that Evans finished as a WR1 in 2019 despite missing three games. Well, I hate to break it to you, but he was not a WR1 in terms that actually matter to you, the fantasy player. Despite averaging an elite 9.1 targets per game, Evans posted WR2 or better-type numbers in just 38.5 percent of his games. That ranked 28th among wide receivers. Seriously, guys like Sterling Shepard, Cole Beasley, and Jamison Crowder had higher percentages. Now you take away Jameis Winston, someone who was more than willing to throw the ball into tight coverage all the time, and swap him with one of the most risk averse quarterbacks in football? Evans' 2.4 yards of separation at target was one of the worst marks among wide receivers, and while it doesn't tell the full story, those who watch Evans knows he uses his body extremely well to box out defenders rather than gain multiple yards of separation with precision route running. Look, he's still a good player who's totaled at least 1,000 yards in each of his first six NFL seasons, so I'm not completely writing him off, though it does help that he's seen at least 8.7 targets per game over the last five years. I don't think Brady is as bad as some think at throwing the deep ball anymore, I just don't think he does it nearly as often as Winston did/was willing to. I'm expecting a slight dip in targets and less air yards, which in turn, equals less production for a player like Evans. It's not bad if you land him as your WR2, but I wouldn't recommend him as a WR1.There have been just nine wide receivers who've finished as a top-24 receiver in at least four of the last five years. Julio Jones, Mike Evans, Jarvis Landry, Michael Thomas, DeAndre Hopkins, Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, and... Cooks. He's done that with three different quarterbacks, and it's hard to say Deshaun Watson is a downgrade. The lack of offseason might prove to be a lot for the chemistry between the two, but knowing Cooks has transitioned well in the past, it shouldn't take too long. Concussions, on the other hand, are a big worrisome point. He only missed two games due to concussions in 2019, but they're starting to add up. It also affected his performance (clearly) in a big way, as he never topped 46 yards in the six games following the injury. There's going to be one of Will Fuller or Cooks who shines as a top-30 receiver with top-20 upside, yet neither are being drafted there. Knowing Cooks has been in this situation before, he gets a vote of confidence. If you land him as your WR4, you should be psyched. If Fuller misses any time, he'd be a must-play WR2 nearly every week.

I have a feeling Brady to Evans will be the undefendable duo this season.

Evans is the forgotten man in fantasy, and one of the most consistent we've seen. He should be Brady's best friend near the end zone, and is a safe pick for teams who hold off on the top tier.

Unlike his fellow Bucs WR Chris Godwin, I see the switch from Winston to Brady as a slight downgrade for Evans. With Winston at QB, Evans was known for being a deep threat and someone who would get plenty of 50/50 type balls. I don't expect that to continue with Brady at QB. That being said, it should make Evans more consistent even if it lowers his ceiling a bit.Brandin Cooks once again finds himself on a new team, now with the Texans. Things could be worse considering he'll get to catch passes from Deshaun Watson but talent and opportunity have never been the problem for Cooks, it's always been about staying healthy. He has suffered multiple concussions over the last few years which adds major risk. On the flip side, if he stays healthy, he could be more dangerous than ever with Watson.

QB Brady is still throwing a decent deep ball, which should help one of NFL's premier power forward receiving targets top 1,000 yards for a 7th straight season

Absent his concussion history, Cooks would be a draft-day target. He's an excellent receiver, with no better evidence than the fact that he had three straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons on three different teams. And taking over for DeAndre Hopkins, who has seen at least 150 targets in in five straight seasons, is an excellent spot. But Cooks has battled multiple concussions - at least five in his professional career - and the risk is of him missing time is extremely high. It would be wonderful if Cooks could play a full season this year, but drafters should be leery of drafting Cooks as a WR3 given his history.

If anything, haven't we learned that it doesn't matter what position you play if you're talented? Brady's used Cooks, Moss, Edelman, Gronk.. I had a stat that I didn't know what to do with in Godwin's notes that is also obviously relevant here. Evan's reliance on the deep ball is over stated. Not only on counting stats, but also behind the scenes in reception perception. Mike Evans is good at separating against man and press coverage and while he's elite at contested catches, that doesn't have to be his game. We should stop knocking an all around good WR for being exceptionally good on deep balls. The fun part is trying to figure out who will disappoint out of the Rams WR trio if they decide to continually target the TE or if the TE targets were mostly due to Cooks absence. What I hadn't realized is that Cooks only missed 2 games(Basically 3). Despite still being around the TE revolution still happened, and the consistency of the WRs suffered. Almost 2 less targets per game for Cooks in 2019 vs 2018. Passer Rating when targeted: 2019 - 88.1, 2018 - 115.9, 2017 - 106.9

Originally with Brees and the Saints, Cooks had 1100 yards and at least 8 TDs both seasons before heading to NE. In his first year with NE, Cooks put up nearly 1100 and 7. Then he went to the Rams, where, in his first season, he put up 1200 and 5. Cooks is no stranger to switching teams, no stranger to playing with great QBs, and no stranger to putting up very solid numbers. He was even WR29 last season prior to his injury. He's simply being under drafted.

Evans could see a slight step backwards with Tom Brady behind center now, but he's still going to be incredibly productive. Brady can still air the ball out downfield and those targets are incredibly valuable for Evans' fantasy production. Brady's going to learn to trust Evans early on and he'll see plenty of targets this year. Evans should be a consistent WR2 option all season long with upside.Cooks is changing teams yet again this season, but there may not have been a better place for him to land. There are a ton of vacated targets in Houston after the departure of Deandre Hopkins and Cooks could see a significant amount of them. Will Fuller will certainly be involved, as will Randall Cobb, but otherwise Cooks could very well lead this offense in targets. There's risk involved in drafting him, which is why his ADP is lower, but it could pay off in a big way for whoever selects him.

Evans is SO damn good.. but will Brady give him as many one-to-ones as Jameis was willing to? Does he have the arm to fully unload? I think yes, but he concerns me more than Godwin with this switchAmong the biggest busts of 2019 , but previously had been so consistent he deserves forgiveness... especially now as Watson's new No.1... will love the newfound deep ball accuracy.

The Draft Zone
What he loses in volume will be offset with accuracy. He got 120 targets and caught 67. He could turn that same 120 into 85 with TB12. @DFFMemphisTexans acquired WR Brandin Cooks and a 2022 fourth-round pick from the Rams in exchange for the No. 57 overall pick of the 2020 draft. Cooks, who has suffered some concerning (head) injuries in recent years but not missed much time, is coming off by far the worst campaign of his career. Somehow, this is the third time he's been traded in three years. He has a bad contract and has suffered at least five concussions as a pro.

Evans had 1,157 yards receiving and eight receiving touchdowns as the deep threat in this offense. He is probably the player most hurt by the acquisition of QB Tom Brady, Brady has always been more about short passes and his arm strength was suspect at the end of last year.
