FantasyPros
From a talent perspective, Saquon Barkley is the best RB in the NFL when he's on the field. Unfortunately, the issue has been staying on the field the past two seasons. Barkley has played 15 out of a possible 32 games, which makes him a very risky investment at the top of your draft. For fantasy managers to have a shot of competing deep into their playoffs, they need their top draft pick to pull their weight all season long. Earlier on in the off-season, Barkley was being drafted as a top-3 option. He's fallen a little bit in ADP, which is more in line with where he should be going. As a late first-round draft pick, the risk is worth the reward. Anything more than that and you're playing with fire. What Evans has done throughout his career is no small feat. In his seven seasons in the NFL, Evans has never finished with less than 1,000 receiving yards in any given year. With that being said, he's a roller coaster to have on your fantasy football roster. Last season, Evans had numerous games where he only had one to three receptions, but he was able to come down with a touchdown on several occasions to save his fantasy output. Evans brings some massive upside based on his size, skillset, and talent. However, fantasy managers need consistency from their WRs if they're being drafted at a premium price. There's a possibility that we see Evans move up into the top-12 WRs in ADP by the time draft season rolls around. He'll provide you with some of those week-winning performances, but that's too steep of a price for me to get on board with that unpredictability. My Very Early Projection: 70-973-9 receiving.

Sleepers and Busts
Saquon's coming off a devastating knee injury. The Giants might ease him back by limiting his touches. Even if they don't, Barkley's running style, which involves plenty of quick stops and starts isn't ideal for an ACL injury. Can he be the same RB? Will he have the same burst of acceleration that made him special? Can he stay healthy? And I speak from personal experience having torn my ACL, albeit 24 years ago. The Giants line isn't very good and the book is still out on QB Daniel Jones. Saquon is too risky in 2021 for me as an early round pick. Note- I heard a prominent fantasy analyst mention on a podcast that Wayne Gallman is Barkley's backup. She was incorrect. Gallman isn't even on the Giants anymore. The backup looks like it's going to be Devontae Booker. With regards to Saquon, let someone else take the chance. PassThere are a lot of mouth to feed in Tampa, but also a lot of TDs available from one of the best offenses in the league. Evans should catch a bunch of them. He's a big, physical target in the red zone. Double digit TDs are a good thing in fantasy. Yes please!

ACL recovery has him on track to play Week 1, though he'll likely be limited - it could take a couple weeks, but should eventually return to heavily featured roleAveraged fewest targets and catches per game of career in 1st season with QB Brady, but Brady knows that Evans butters the bread in the red zone - all 9 RZ catches went for TDs

It's hard to envision Barkley returning to form as a top-5 fantasy RB, especially since targets may be scarce. New York's receiving corps is crowded, and while Barkley won't fall off the map entirely, a major selling point on top-5 upside is his ability and volume as a receiver. With that volume in question, I'm a little lower on him than consensus.Evans is never a sexy pick at receiver, but he's gone for 1,000 yards in each of his seven NFL seasons. He's gone for double-digit scores in three of those, including a career-high 13 in 2021. He's finished as a WR1 in four of his last five campaigns, but his career-low 109 targets with Tom Brady under center are concerning. Even so, he should continue to be a red-zone threat, but I'm tempering expectations to a high-end WR2 rather than a sure-fire WR1.

After setting the fantasy world on fire his rookie season with over 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns, Barkley hasn't exactly lived up to expectations producing 1,535 total yards and eight touchdowns over 15 games the last two seasons. He tore his ACL early in the season, which should give him plenty of time to bounce back, though his violent running style could take a bit longer in recovery, and he only returned to practice in late-August. The Giants suddenly have more weapons than ever in the passing game, so Barkley is unlikely to come close to the 121 targets he saw in 2018, though he should have more scoring opportunities. There is some risk with Barkley at the top of drafts due to his knee, but when on the field, we know he'll produce. There may be no fantasy wide receiver who's continually undervalued more than Mike Evans. He's now turned in at least 1,000 yards in seven straight seasons with a handful of different quarterbacks, and has scored at least eight touchdowns in five of them. The reason he can't be considered in the elite tier is due to the number of mouths to feed in the Bucs offense. Think about it this way: Despite Chris Godwin being hurt for a while and Antonio Brown not joining the team until mid-season, Evans finished with just 109 targets. He's one of the better WR2's to have in fantasy, but he doesn't come with top-five upside unless there are injuries to those around him.

Back at practice, Week 1 remains realistic. Only back w/ the upside to challenge CMac

Earlier in Evans' career, I'd avoid him for his week-to-week inconsistency, but ironically he is perhaps the single most consistent player you can draft in all of fantasy football. Evans has now broken his tie with Randy Moss for most 1000+ yard seasons to begin a career in NFL history with 7 (!!) seasons - this ridiculous stat represents his long-term consistency in production and health. Now of course, Evans has his drawbacks as well. Last year, Evans was *extremely* efficient in catch rate and touchdowns to the point where regression towards the mean is inevitable this year. Tampa has also managed to retain every pass-catcher from 2020, while adding Jaelon Darden (rookie), Giovani Bernard as a receiving back (free agency) and OJ Howard (back from injury) who will all consume targets along with probable usage increases for sophomore Tyler Johnson and Antonio Brown, given his elite talent. Even still, this offense very clearly uses Evans as the primary red-zone option, giving him the ability to single-handedly win you weeks. As long you understand Evans may get fewer targets, but the ones he will get are very high-quality, he is an excellent pick as a lower-end WR1 with insane weekly upside, while nonetheless possessing unprecedented year-to-year consistency - you should have supreme confidence drafting him at his current 3rd-round ADP.

The good news is that by the time Week 1 rolls around, Saquon Barkley will have had a full calendar year to recover from his ACL/MCL/meniscus injury that he suffered last September. This is the fantastic as fantasy football is more fun when Barkley is healthy. The bad news? It truly sounds as if the Giants want to limit his workload early on this year, and it's tough to blame them considering Barkley is their franchise player at the moment. I'm also a tad concerned with his ultimate PPR ceiling, as Saquon benefited immensely from Eli "dumpoff" Manning back in 2018. He's still an unquestioned three-down bell cow, but I just don't expect that type of insane usage in the passing game again. Still, f antasy managers should expect Barkley's workload -- and therefore his fantasy value -- to increase as the season moves along.

Will injuries take their toll? Saquon is a great pick for re-draft, but scares me in bestball. The Bucs' top 3 WRs were healthy together for 10 games last season. In those games Evans lead in targets (73), target share (20.1%), air yards (1004), and end-zone targets (8). Not to mention that he has had 7 straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards and 5 seasons of 8+ TDs.

Over the last two seasons, Barkley played a total of 15 games combined. The risk of injury is just too great right now for me to take him over some proven guys who stay on the field, even if he is the most talented back in the NFL.

Injuries capped Barkley's 2019 season and completely derailed his 2020 season as he played only two games. I love Barkley's ability, but he needs to stay healthy if he is going to realize his unlimited potential.Mike Evans had only 70 receptions for 1,006 yards, but he dominated the red zone with 13 touchdowns. Evans is a WR2 that could be a WR1 if he duplicates his TD production again in 2021.
