Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Trubisky is now the starting QB in Chicago, but that doesn't mean that he's going to have a long leash. If he continues to struggle this season, I would not be surprised to see the Bears pull the plug almost immediately. The Bears play the Lions and Giants to start the season, which are two relatively easy matchups for Trubisky. However, we could see Foles as early as Week 3. Just because Trubisky has been named the starter does not mean that we need to overvalue him for fantasy football purposes. I still recommend leaving him on your waiver wire to begin the year.Tua isn't going to start the season, but that doesn't mean we should completely write him off for fantasy purposes in 2020. I fully expect the rookie QB to step in at some point this season later on and he could have some streaming appeal in plus matchups. With all that being said, he can remain on your league's waiver wire until that point.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Durability is an issue for Tagovailoa after last November's hip surgery and an ankle injury in 2018. Less-than-ideal size could also be a problem, and Miami has the option to turn to a capable backup in Ryan Fitzpatrick if Tagovailoa isn't ready for Week 1.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Trubisky will start the season at quarterback for the Bears, but he's one of the last quarterbacks you'd draft in your fantasy league. He regressed significantly last year, rarely pushing the ball down the field and looking tentative all season long. He threw just 17 touchdown passes, had just a 6.1 YPA average, and ran for only 193 yards. Even with Trubisky beginning the year as the starter, he almost certainly won't have much fantasy value, and should be an afterthought on draft day.
Kevin Wheeler
The Draft Zone
Bears head coach Matt Nagy said the team would not name its starting quarterback ahead of their Week 1 game against Detroit. It's bizarre that Mitchell Trubisky either stopped running, or had that option stripped away, and still has the third-lowest checkdown rate over the last two seasons. Especially with receiving talent Tarik Cohen in the backfield. @Josh_ADHD
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
The biggest mistake people are making right now is assuming Foles will be the starter. It should be common knowledge that Ryan Pace's job as the general manager was tied to Trubisky. Both his and Matt Nagy's jobs are likely on the line here. When you add in the rushing upside that Trubisky presents, as well as the equity they used to draft him, he might be under center in Week 1, though he'd be on a short leash. With an opening schedule against the Lions, Giants, Falcons, Colts, Buccaneers, and Panthers, whoever is under center should get off to a hot start. Want to hear something crazy? On average, it took 18.6 fantasy points to finish as a top-12 quarterback in 2019. Trubisky hit that mark as many times as Kyler Murray and Tom Brady did. As a fantasy player, you want Trubisky to win the job, as he makes for a better streamer. There's been just two games over the last three years where Foles has scored more than 17.8 fantasy points. Let's be real - you aren't drafting either of these guys in 1QB leagues, but if you want to select both of them to be your QB2/QB3 in 2QB leagues, I actually like that strategy, especially with that early-season schedule.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
While I do expect Trubisky to start the season, I don't think he'll last very long. His team traded for a former Super Bowl-winning QB and will want to see what they have in him. As I said regarding Foles, I'd avoid both Bears QB's this season.Due to the preseason being canceled, I do not expect Tua to start in Week 1 but he will get on the field sooner than later. When he does, he'll have Devante Parker, Preston Williams, and Mike Gesicki to rely on which is a pretty solid group when you compare it to what the Dolphins have had in the past. As soon as he becomes the starter he will be on everybody's radar.
Andrew Erickson
Pro Football Focus
More confidence he will be the Week 1 starter and he beats down on bad defenses.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
OK, I'm out. It's time to move on and send Trubisky back to the land of NFL backup QBs.I'm a massive fan of Tua the man and Tua the QB. I'm not a fan of QB the 2020 fantasy player though. I'm not convinced he starts any time soon, though I hope he does, and I don't think he provides immediate value. This is a rebuild and he's probably a year or two away.
Tal Malachovsky
The Fantasy Scout
I'm going to have to learn how to pronounce this dude's name correctly, but I think I'v got it - Too-uhh Tag-o-vah-lo-waah. Anyway, he can't take hits in the NFL like he did on a few occasions in college. That'll end his career quickly. Lucky for him, he has a lot of positive things that make him special, beside his legs. First, his running style is more like Barry Sanders in his maneuverability, and illusiveness, as opposed to a Cam Newton style of running QB that uses power over slickness, which puts players at higher risk of injury. The way Tua runs makes it seem like he thinks everyone has cooties, and there's NO WAY you're touching him. Not to say Tua isn't strong. He is. Very strong. In fact, I think he's going to frustrate defenses because they're going to struggle getting him down, even when they think they've got him. When he gets the nod for the start, he's going to be a force, but it benefits him to be sitting behind the extremely experienced veteran, Ryan Fitzpatrick, who's been on half the teams in the league. Tua has no pressure to start producing on day one because of his return from injury, and having a successful Ryan Fitzpatrick ahead of him. When that changes, and it's Tua's turn, I expect Lamar Jackson type numbers in rushing, and better than Lamar in passing, and throwing touchdown numbers. So, as a late round backup, stash or as an early waiver/free agency QB pickup in redraft leagues, I like it a lot. He is a league winner, and I'm calling it now. I thought it would be Kyler Murray this season, and it has a higher probability of happening, but Tua may be a QB on a lot of fantasy football team champions. If Tua gets to play, he's going to wow everyone. I love this guy. You should too. He should be flagged so you can keep an eye on him. He's one of my favorite sneaky beginning/mid season fantasy assets that has a high ceiling. I can see him starting the 3rd or 4th game, unless Ryan Fitzpatrick lights it up from game one, and keeps doing it consistently or Tua isn't ready for one reason or another. I wouldn't put my money on Pickspatrick accomplishing that, but Tua may need more time. Although, he states he feels 100% after his hip surgery. I lean on the side that they'll wait for Ryan Fitzpatrick to lose his first or second game, and then they'll unleash the beast.
