Breaking Football
Lindsay was fantastic as a rookie, but Royce Freeman deserves the ball more. He's a great RB2 or Flex, but I won't be forcing the issue.Whether or not Green is healthy, Boyd is going to be peppered with targets. We saw last year he can play, but now he'll explode.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Lindsey concerns me with a new coaching staff, a new quarterback, and RB Royce Freeman behind him on the depth chart. He is a risky RB2 with both upside coming off a solid rookie season and uncertainty with Freeman likely to carve out a bigger role this year.Boyd had a breakout year with 1,026 yards receiving and 7 receiving touchdowns. He should be a WR3 with upside in a new offense this year.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's pretty rare to see a running back who finished top 12 his rookie season despite missing a game fall down draft boards the following year, especially when the team didn't add another running back. That's precisely the case with Lindsay, who will share some touches with Royce Freeman, but Lindsay has proven to be much more capable in the pass-game than Freeman, which gives him the nod as the starter. While there is some built-in risk, it's not enough to knock Lindsay out of solid RB2 territoryIt's like everyone forgot how good A.J. Green is/was, and now he's dropping down draft boards while Boyd is skyrocketing up them. It's not to say Boyd will return to the waiver wire fodder he was his first two seasons in the league where he scored 15 PPR points just twice in 26 games, but he's not going to return to the player who saw seven or more targets in 9-of-14 games with Green back in the lineup. Do we really believe Andy Dalton can support two consistent top-24 receivers? That's what you're banking on with Boyd, because we know Green will be there if healthy. The only time Dalton has produced two top-30 receivers was in 2014, when Green missed three games, allowing Mohamed Sanu to finish as the WR29. It's not to say it's not possible Boyd takes a leap in the new offense, but he's being drafted at/near his ceiling without a Green injury
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Lindsay, an undrafted rookie, had a shocking breakout for the Broncos last year, totaling 1,278 yards and 10 touchdowns. He sustained a wrist injury late last year, needed surgery, and spent much of the offseason rehabbing. Despite his production, the Broncos seem intent on allowing Royce Freeman to split carries with Lindsay, and their signing of Theo Riddick (even though he is now injured) shows that they really want to spread the ball around in the backfield. Don't in any way forget about Lindsay on draft day as an RB2. But don't draft him expecting last year's numbers. The casual fantasy owner probably thinks that Boyd's breakout in 2018 was because of A.J. Green's injury. But Boyd was nearly as productive with Green on the field. Either way, Green is already battling an injury that will force him to miss multiple games, so Boyd should see plenty of targets. There's little else in the Bengals' receiving group, so particularly early in the season, Boyd should be highly productive.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Extremely small sample, but Lindsay lined up from the slot + out wide on 2-of-8 'Flacco' snaps - a glimpse of what we've heard on his usage out of camp all offseason. @NotJDaigle
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Lindsay had over 1000 rushing yards, over 200 receiving yards and over 10 TDs last season. Despite that performance, he is now being disrespected and is expected to split carries. I still like Lindsay and expect him to get the lion's share of the touches. Solid pick at ADP.Tyler Boyd was a stud last year and I don't really understand his ADP. In 14 games last season he totaled 1028 yards and 7 TDs on 108 targets. He became a consistent weekly WR2 and he was also utilized in the red zone. I called Robert Woods last season as a must have WR at ADP. Boyd is my 2019 Woods.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Booker saw 30% of the Broncos snaps last season. With that usage likely out of the window now, there's room for Lindsay to be very good even with the involvement of Royce Freeman. Things were looking up for Lindsay when his OC referred to him and Freeman as Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, but now his ceiling is capped with the signing of the pass-catching specialist Theo Riddick.Andy Dalton's True Throw Value last season before getting hurt was .481. That puts him above league average and sandwiches him between Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers. If we look at QBs in a similar TTV tier, we see Cousins - who supported Theilen and Diggs, Rodgers - Who supported Adams and Allison/MVS, then Newton and Brady, two guys who don't necessarily support two startable WRs at this stage in their career. It's going to come down to target share for Tyler Boyd (Which will obviously be effected by AJ Green's health).
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Royce Freeman is plenty talented behind Lindsay so it would be fair to worry about that, but try to remember just how great Lindsay was last season. If he is healthy, he will play, even in a new scheme. Whether that means being more involved in the passing game or not, you can rely on Lindsay to produce again if he is on the field.Boyd just signed a four-year extension with the Bengals which means Zac Taylor must have big plans for him. A.J. Green is still the number one and will be back within a handful of weeks and Andy Dalton can only create so many fantasy points, but Boyd is a strong bet to finish as a WR3.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I have my concerns with Lindsay. I think he's a good RB, but the Broncos aren't going to very good this season, and Freeman isn't going anywhere. He was great last season, but he was only given over 15 carries in three games, and his TD rate is likely to regress from 9 on under 200 carries. He's also likely to see a few less carries, assuming Freeman can remain healthy this season. Lindsay can absolutely pay off his ADP, and I do like him in that late 4th/early 5th round range...but he's rarely still on the board at that point.I will not be drafting Tyler Boyd this season. His ADP is a bit too high for the third option in an Andy Dalton offense. A.J. Green is back, Mixon will get his touches...and I expect John Ross to at least take a small step forward this season. If you like Boyd then you better be drafting Andy Dalton, because the only way Boyd pays off his ADP is if Dalton goes off.
