Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Looking at what Arthur Smith did in Tennessee with Derrick Henry, it would be to assume that he wants to build the same type of offense here in Atlanta. If that is the case, then Davis is going to step right into the Henry role, right? Unfortunately, there is only Henry and Davis certainly isn't him. There's an incredible opportunity for Davis to be a solid RB2 for fantasy purposes this season, but the question revolves around how long can he withstand an increased workload? As the season progressed last year, we saw Davis wear down as he took on the lead role in CMC's absence and there's a strong possibility that that happens again in 2021. I believe we could even see another free agent RB like Adrian Peterson added to this backfield as the off-season progresses, which would immediately put Davis into the RB3 conversation. We'll have to wait and see with Davis as we get closer to fantasy drafts, but he could be a solid option to start the season that starts to wear down as the workload takes it toll.Mostert is expected to be the lead back in this offense as long as he's healthy, but that's not exactly a guarantee. Mostert's only played a total of 31 games over the past three seasons and the 49ers know that they can't rely on him to start all 16 games. With the drafting of Sermon, the 49ers are signaling that Mostert's best fantasy days are behind him. To start the season, Mostert could produce some solid numbers for your lineup, but it seems inevitable that he's going to give up the starting job to the rookie RB eventually. If you do end up drafting Mostert, it's probably best to double back and snag Sermon to handcuff this backfield.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
My guess is that analysts are worried about the Falcons adding a free agent running back because even my RB24 ranking feels a bit low for a back who should have no issue getting 15-plus touches per game. That would amount to 240-plus touches on the season. There have been 144 running backs who've hit that mark over the last 10 years and none have finished worse than RB28 (his current ECR). In fact, just 10 of those running backs (6.9 percent) have finished worse than RB20. If the Falcons don't add anyone of significance, I'll be moving him up even more. There's no denying it... when Mostert is healthy and on the field, he's a beast. He's turned 282 career carries into 1,590 yards and 11 touchdowns. But that's the issue, he's never healthy. There's a reason he's 29 years old and has just 282 carries on his frame. Have the 49ers lost patience? They traded up to draft Trey Sermon in the third round, which could indicate they're ready to move on from Mostert, or it could be them ensuring they have a high-quality backup for if/when he gets injured. Mostert tallied at least 14 carries in 5-of-8 starts last year, which is more than enough to get into RB2 territory with his efficiency, but you can't draft him as such when injuries/Sermon are factored in. He's not someone you can confidently draft as a starter for your fantasy team because there's so much unknown. However, if he gets the job back, this is a pick that can make a difference in fantasy leagues. The 49ers have one of the easiest schedules in the league, so if they let Mostert get rolling, he's unlikely to slow down.

The Draft Zone
Davis scares me because most mid-career breakouts don't pan out in Year N+1. Davis is a special case because he changed teams, but the point remains that sustained success is rare. @JackMiller02 Davis is a case where projections can get you in trouble. Tough to NOT project him for big volume right now. But he's probably not as safe a bet to actually get that volume as it appears right now. @SmolaDSMostert is one of the most explosive runners in the NFL and a slept on 4.34 speedster. His new competition is a 3rd round rookie with 4.58 speed. He feels like one of the most fragile players in the NFL in my opinion, I've been avoiding him in drafts, he's the kind of back that I revesrve for DFS rosters.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Davis is going to be the starter in Atlanta, but they had one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL and their offensive line needs work. Davis is a flex option on a team that will be throwing the ball a lot this year.
Mark Ringo
Sleepers and Busts
Eh, I'm not really comfortable with this ranking. This could go off the rails quick. Here's what I'm thinking, if the Falcons keep things the way they are Davis could do well. They'll be trailing, so the game script isn't good, but Kyle Pitts will draw plenty of pass interference penalties. That should set Atlanta up on the one yard line for some one yard TD runs. If they use Davis as a three down RB- he'll outperform his draft day price tag (6th round).......but that's a big if. Also, keep in mind Davis has been a lifetime backup. I could see them signing a RB who gets cut from another team just to spite me.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Currently ATL's top RB. Don't expect that to stay, but he'd be a high-end RB2 if soTrey Sermon's addition has his starting role in serious jeopardy, but Mostert has always balled when offered the opportunity
Joe Pisapia
FantasyPros
Mike Davis aka "The Quad-Father" impressed in his role as CMC's back up turned starter in 2020. Davis now has a chance with the Falcons to be the undisputed leader of the backfield with very little competition. Exactly how lucrative that role will be in fantasy terms is undetermined. Arthur Smith certainly liked to run the football in Tennessee, but NO ONE is Derrick Henry. Still, Davis as a third RB is a good value in 2021 based on the offense and his situation.Raheem Mostert will probably never reach his 2019 season peak. He was more of a back that was in the right system at the right time and there's plenty of competition in house with Wayne Gallman, Trey Sermon and eventually Jeffrey Wilson Jr. As a fantasy investment, Mostert has more questions than answers and that makes him limited in his fantasy upside. There are better picks at similar ADP at the position.
