FantasyPros
Let me be clear - I'm not a fan of Benjamin the player, but I am a fan of the targets he'll see with a lack of receiving options in Buffalo. It was the reason he saw 115-plus targets in Carolina, and the quarterback situation wasn't much better (from an accuracy standpoint), but he was able to finish as a top-24 receiver multiple times. Targets first, talent second in fantasy football. As long as Benjamin shows he's healthy when drafts start taking place, he's worthy of a top-40 wide receiver pick. Despite Marcus Mariota getting hurt in 2016 and struggling through much of 2017, Matthews remained consistent in his production, hauling in 61 percent of his passes for 14.5 and 15.0 yards per reception in each year. The area his production dipped, though, was targets and touchdowns. With Corey Davis slated for a bigger role in 2018, you should expect that decline to continue, though Matthews won't go away, as he's been extremely efficient with his targets. He's comparable to the Titans version of DeSean Jackson.
Raju Byfield
Win My Fantasy League
A healthy Benjamin will be a godsend for Allen as he tries to acclimate to the NFLNot enough targets for three fantasy relevant receivers in Tennessee and we are siding with Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
Here's a fantasy riddle: How valuable is a No. 1 WR on a team that doesn't pass? Only the Bears aired it out fewer times than the Bills (476), and they've downgraded from the underrated Tyrod Taylor to AJ McCarron and the over-drafted Josh Allen. Whoever starts will eye Benjamin (WR17 and 20 in his first two seasons) as his top target. That didn't matter much last year, when he caught 16 of 27 targets for 217 yards and a TD in five games following a midseason trade. He may blossom into a perfectly boring WR3 after getting acquainted to his new surroundings, but don't expect a return to past heights in an anemic offense. Matthews never gets the attention he deserves despite averaging 6.5 targets and 58 yards per game in two seasons with the Titans. He solidified a WR37 season despite missing two games and posting four TDs after 2016's career-high nine. Among the league leaders in average cushion (seven yards), he remains Marcus Mariota's steadiest downfield threat. A mysterious injury sunk his stock, but he has since signed an extension and returned from the PUP list.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
His QB situation is dicey but KB still has the size and ball skills to be a TD fiend
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
Benjamin has an ADP of WR48 in PPR drafts, via @FFCalculator. - @gdula13 projects him for 116 targets. (Mike Clay has him for 119.) - Since 2000, 85% of WRs with 100+ targets finished as at least WR36. - May be ugly in Buffalo, but KB should have value this season. @gdula13 Benjamin looked real good on the opening drive of the first preseason game going 4/59/1 in the first eight plays. He's the Bills' default top wideout but is only attractive in fantasy for his volume.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
After getting traded to the Bills, Benjamin did nothing, but picking up a new playbook in the middle of the season is a tall task. While the Bills won't excel at passing the ball this year, it is worth noting that Kelvin was a WR2 both of his first two years and still has that type of upside.Matthews will likely going to take a step back this season with the expected emergence of Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor and the arrival of DIon Lewis. With that said, he was a top 36 receiver each of the past two seasons so it isn't like he will drop all the way out of fantasy relevance suddenly.
Staff Rankings
QB List
Ohhhhh boy here he is again. Once "the guy" in Carolina, an unfortunate trade has since banished him to the winter wonderland of Buffalo. Like Sammy Watkins (who slots in at #50 on this list), he's continually shown the athleticism and skills to become a dominating receiver, while subsequently proceeding to either be injured or just suck. Benjamin is the #1 WR in Buffalo where LITERALLY NO ONE else will challenge him (besides maybe some miraculous sophomore season from Zay Jones), but being in the literal tundra and catching throws from legendary better-Bengal A.J. McCarron, expectations are low.On our sister site Pitcherlist.com, we have a nickname for a pitcher that comes up to the majors and is wholly unspectacular: A Cup of Schmo. If ever there was such a thing in the NFL, it would be Rishard Matthews. Playing within a run-first Tennessee offense, Matthews is consistently ok, never extraordinary, and my bet is he will continue to do so even with an improved Mariota. Have fun!
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Benjamin is the No. 1 receiver on a team that will lose a lot of football games this season. He should be able to put up decent numbers in that capacity.Matthews is a solid fantasy player who often gets overlooked. He's still the No. 1 receiver and should be able to hold that designation another season even if Corey Davis shows improvement.
