Win My Fantasy League
Solid flex option with WR3 upsideNot enough targets for three fantasy relevant receivers in Tennessee and we are siding with Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
While his TD tally cratered from eight to two, Shepard submitted a 70.2 catch % (59-of-84) and 66.4 YPG in 11 second-year contests. He also packed over half of his yardage in three 130+ outings, and those days with double-digit targets will be rare with Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley sharing the field. Yet one of his backers is Eli Manning, who said the 24-year-old is "primed for a big year." A happy blend of last year's volume (when healthy) and 2016's red-zone efficacy will validate that assessment. At least start Shepard against the Eagles, whom he has torched for 383 yards and four touchdowns in as many meetings.Matthews never gets the attention he deserves despite averaging 6.5 targets and 58 yards per game in two seasons with the Titans. He solidified a WR37 season despite missing two games and posting four TDs after 2016's career-high nine. Among the league leaders in average cushion (seven yards), he remains Marcus Mariota's steadiest downfield threat. A mysterious injury sunk his stock, but he has since signed an extension and returned from the PUP list.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Over the first two years of his career, Shepard has shown the ability to step-up and be the focal point of a passing attack, though he doesn't need to be with Odell Beckham Jr. on the field. To know that he has that ability is a bonus, though, as Beckham Jr. has dealt with injuries throughout his career. Pat Shurmur did wonders for Adam Thielen's career while working out of the slot, which is where Shepard has played over 80 percent of his snaps the last two years. He's going to give you WR4 production regardless, but has upside for much more. If someone tells you he's not a WR3, ask them what the difference is between someone like him and Juju Smith-Schuster. While the latter may have a better quarterback, Shepard may see more targets. Despite Marcus Mariota getting hurt in 2016 and struggling through much of 2017, Matthews remained consistent in his production, hauling in 61 percent of his passes for 14.5 and 15.0 yards per reception in each year. The area his production dipped, though, was targets and touchdowns. With Corey Davis slated for a bigger role in 2018, you should expect that decline to continue, though Matthews won't go away, as he's been extremely efficient with his targets. He's comparable to the Titans version of DeSean Jackson.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
If you pro-rate Shepard's numbers last year to a full 16 games, we would have been a fringe WR3 just like his rookie season. Now that Barkley is part of the offense, his targets could drop off even more, leaving him as a mid-end WR4. Their new offensive coordinator loves slots like Shepard, however.Matthews will likely going to take a step back this season with the expected emergence of Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor and the arrival of DIon Lewis. With that said, he was a top 36 receiver each of the past two seasons so it isn't like he will drop all the way out of fantasy relevance suddenly.

QB List
On our sister site Pitcherlist.com, we have a nickname for a pitcher that comes up to the majors and is wholly unspectacular: A Cup of Schmo. If ever there was such a thing in the NFL, it would be Rishard Matthews. Playing within a run-first Tennessee offense, Matthews is consistently ok, never extraordinary, and my bet is he will continue to do so even with an improved Mariota. Have fun!
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
I like Shepard's ability, but the return of Odell Beckham Jr. and the addition of Saquon Barkley, who should get a big chunk of targets, will likely lower Shepard's upside.Matthews is a solid fantasy player who often gets overlooked. He's still the No. 1 receiver and should be able to hold that designation another season even if Corey Davis shows improvement.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
"I thought Sterling had a great camp during the spring," Manning told NJ Advance Media, "He's understanding the coverage, understanding the route combinations, he understands zone and man, and how to make little moves to get open against different techniques." Shepard is coming off a 2017 campaign where he saw an expanded role after Odell Beckham Jr. shattered his ankle in Week 4, accounting for 59 catches for 731 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 12.4 yards per reception before his season was cut short due to injury in Week 11. (NJ.com)
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Shepard is better than most think and with Marshall out of town he seems locked into a solid WR2 role
