FantasyPros
This is a ranking that can move, as Anderson could potentially be suspended by the commissioner. He's had off -the-field issues multiple times, but the most recent arrest has some really bad details, particularly when he said things to a police officer about what he'd do to his wife. He may escape legal trouble, but the NFL is sure to investigate. It could be an Ezekiel Elliott situation where we don't even know when the season begins, so you have to build that risk into his draft price. He belongs in the WR4 range because of it. If Sam Darnold starts, it could actually hurt his stock because of the rapport Anderson's built with Josh McCown. Let's be clear - when you go from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr, there's going to be a massive efficiency decline. One positive from the move to the Raiders is that it appears they'll be using him in the slot, similarly to the way that the Cardinals use Larry Fitzgerald. Nelson isn't as physically imposing as Fitzgerald, and he's also got to compete with Amari Cooper for targets. While Nelson will be usable as a safe WR4 play most weeks, he doesn't offer you much upside.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
One of the trickiest players to rank, Anderson could still receive a suspension because of a January arrest. Also an on-field enigma, he ended the season by recording 120 receiving yards in four games after compiling 490 yards and five TDs in the previous five contests. Anyone drafting Anderson should be disappointed to see Josh McCown lose the starting job to Sam Darnold, as the veteran's season-ending hand injury occurred right as the wideout started to fade in Week 14. He's an ultimate boom-or-bust pick. Nelson tallied 164 yards in eight games without Aaron Rodgers. He now plays for the Raiders, who do not employ Rodgers. Buying low on the WR2 from both 2014 and 2016 is nevertheless tempting, but he didn't produce a single TD or 40-yard performance without his elite teammate. Don't reach for the 33-year-old in his first year away from Green Bay. If he falls outside the top 100, the TD potential is tougher to ignore.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Anderson may end up missing some time but he will be worth drafting anyways considering the state of the Jets' receiver core and the way Anderson performed over the second half of last season. From the moment he returns, Anderson is startable each and every week. After being a top-three fantasy receiver two straight years, Nelson disappeared last year, posting more than 100 fewer points than the previous year and finishing as a WR5. Now that he is in a new offense and playing in the slot, we might see him split the difference in half making him a useful flex play many weeks.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
"After a productive rookie season, Robby Anderson stepped up big for the Jets in 2017 following the loss of Enunwa. The Temple product racked up 942 receiving yards and 7 TDs, establishing himself as a bona fide deep threat. Since entering the league, Anderson is sixth in the NFL in receptions of 20+ yards with 27." newyorkjets.com"Jordy is washed up." "Jordy is too old." "Jordy has lost a step." @friscojosh calls bupkis and names Nelson one of his Three Wide Receivers Primed to Break Out. (4for4) I obviously disagree...
Staff Rankings
QB List
I've gotta be honest folks, it took me nearly 12 games last season to finally buy into our guy Robby as a consistent producer in the Jets' offense. With blazing speed and good route running, Anderson was sent on bomb and deep slant routes serving in a Tyreek Hill-esque deep threat role, while sometimes serving as the go-to receiver on 3rd down for the Jets' Josh McCown led offense. Although the Jets do return Quincy Enunwa to the mix, and added Terrell Pryor in the offseason, Anderson still profiles out to receive the lion's share of deep chucks from McCown, while possibly seeing a slight dip in targets, situating him firmly at the tail end of Tier 3 at #25.I know many are incredibly hyped to see Jordy rocking the black and silver in Oakland (for now), but unfortunately Jordy appears to be a lesser version of the receiver we've known and loved in fantasyland for the past 8 seasons +. He appears slower, more worn down by his career injuries at a ripe 33 years old, and he enters a WR situation where for the first time (not counting the end of last year) he is not the primary option. For the past 3 seasons, Jordy has averaged a MASSIVE 140+ targets per season, well above the average targets per season of consistent fantasy stud Michael Thomas. In addition, he likely won't be the primary target in the red zone either, making the 11 TD's per season he's averaged over the past 3 a lost fantasy. He could always be great within the Raiders passing attack, but his share of targets will make sure that great isn't all that great.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Anderson's felony charges were dropped, which should keep him from any long-term suspension. He also gets Josh McCown back, with whom he had a strong connection with last season. The Packers released Nelson, and the Raiders signed him to be their No. 2 receiver after releasing Michael Crabtree. I don't like the move, but it's done and Nelson will have some value in Oakland as the No. 2 receiver.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Nelson could be a massive steal if the Packers got his release wrong. Still, there are a ton of mouths to feed in OAK and he sure looked slow last year
Raju Byfield
Win My Fantasy League
He was the Jets most talented receiver last year but that is not saying much; whomever Darnold clicks with will hold this spotExcitement of offseason add faded a little with the Raiders addition of Martavis Bryant
