Tannehill was signed to a four-year, 118 million contract after leading the NFL with a 117.5 passer rating and 9.6 yards per attempt in 2019. There's no way he comes close to duplicating those number with NFL defenses bound to make adjustments.Durability is an issue for Tagovailoa after last November's hip surgery and an ankle injury in 2018. Less-than-ideal size could also be a problem, and Miami has the option to turn to a capable backup in Ryan Fitzpatrick if Tagovailoa isn't ready for Week 1.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Due to the lack of pure passing volume in this offense, Tannehill's unlikely to be a consistent fantasy option in 2020. While Tannehill was excellent for fantasy last season, he did that on the back of incredible efficiency and that's hard to project forward again this season.Tua isn't going to start the season, but that doesn't mean we should completely write him off for fantasy purposes in 2020. I fully expect the rookie QB to step in at some point this season later on and he could have some streaming appeal in plus matchups. With all that being said, he can remain on your league's waiver wire until that point.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
When someone goes from anywhere in between 6.7 and 7.7 yards per attempt throughout their first six years, then jumps up to 9.6 yards per target, we call that an outlier, especially when said outlier contains just a 286-pass attempt sample size. We can't ignore it, though. Tannehill put his name on the record books, as his 117.5 QB Rating in 2019 ranks as the fourth-best all-time. His 0.67 fantasy points per actual pass attempt ranked as the fourth-best mark over the last 10 years. What made it all that more impressive is that he was sacked every 10.8 dropbacks, which was the third-most often in the league. By comparison, Drew Brees was sacked every 32.5 dropbacks. So, that leaves us saying, "Okay, we know there'll be regression, but how much?" Under Mike Vrabel, the Titans have run exactly 58.8 plays per game in each of his first two seasons as head coach. We know they want to be a run-first team, right? That's why the pass attempts have been 432 in 2018 and 448 in 2019. That's a problem. For the sake of argument, let's raise that number to 500, which would be a massive difference. Even assigning Tannehill a number of 8.3 yards per attempt (Patrick Mahomes' number from 2019), it would amount to 4,150 yards. Then let's say he throws a touchdown on 5.0 percent of his passes (Dak Prescott from 2019). That would amount to 25 touchdowns. So, 4,150 passing yards and 25 touchdowns while comparing him to Mahomes and Prescott, while raising his pass attempts up to 500? Do you see why it makes little sense to think Tannehill even approaches top-10 territory? By comparison, Tom Brady threw for 4,057 yards and 24 touchdowns last year - he was hardly usable. Treat Tannehill as a streamer and you'll be happy. He's a great No. 2 quarterback to have in Superflex/2QB leagues because he's locked into the job and has shown top-five upside, even if it's highly improbable.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Ryan Tannehill was the first overall quarterback overall in True Throw Value in 2019 (brotofantasy.com), which means he was the most efficient fantasy QB in the entire league. He was a top 5 QB over the back half of the season. His ADP is far too low.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ

Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
10th in FPPG last season for QBs. 1st in True Throw Value (Brotofantasy.com). Another year with his young stud WR teammate and a sneaky rushing ability. Tannehill is a very good late-round choice.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Ryan Tannehill was 2019's Cinderella story, coming off the bench to lead the Titans all the way to the AFC title game. His performance on the field was at times brilliant but for the most part, not fantasy relevant. The Titans run the ball too much for Tannehill to repeat his numbers for 2019 which is why he's someone I'd avoid unless you're in a pinch.Due to the preseason being canceled, I do not expect Tua to start in Week 1 but he will get on the field sooner than later. When he does, he'll have Devante Parker, Preston Williams, and Mike Gesicki to rely on which is a pretty solid group when you compare it to what the Dolphins have had in the past. As soon as he becomes the starter he will be on everybody's radar.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
A career year in terms of underlying QB statistics that undoubtedly help lead a hyper efficient offense. Not sure what reasons we would have for any kind of major drop-off to make us not want to smash the draft button at his current ADP. Injuries are what have marred the 31 year old's career up to this point. He thrived with Gase when healthy and was always a favorite breakout candidate. He's had his breakout, with great QB metrics and a rushing floor and now he's being drafted as QB19 in redraft? A major value, especially when you can consider the higher upside shots at more important positions it allows you to take while waiting on QB

Tanny was the QB9 in ppg last year.

A massive key to fantasy success is getting on players before they break out. I was all over Tannehill when he took over in Tennessee last year, placing him in my top 5 weekly as the season climaxed. He balled out too, getting three TDs every week after week 7. That suggests amazing sustainability so surely he'll be great this year right? NO! Tannehill had amazing efficiency and regression is a cruel mistress. While he continues to show weekly upside, I just can't trust Tannehill to perform in any given week and for that reason, he's nothing more than a gamble. With so much QB depth, that's not a gamble I need to take.I'm a massive fan of Tua the man and Tua the QB. I'm not a fan of QB the 2020 fantasy player though. I'm not convinced he starts any time soon, though I hope he does, and I don't think he provides immediate value. This is a rebuild and he's probably a year or two away.

I'm going to have to learn how to pronounce this dude's name correctly, but I think I'v got it - Too-uhh Tag-o-vah-lo-waah. Anyway, he can't take hits in the NFL like he did on a few occasions in college. That'll end his career quickly. Lucky for him, he has a lot of positive things that make him special, beside his legs. First, his running style is more like Barry Sanders in his maneuverability, and illusiveness, as opposed to a Cam Newton style of running QB that uses power over slickness, which puts players at higher risk of injury. The way Tua runs makes it seem like he thinks everyone has cooties, and there's NO WAY you're touching him. Not to say Tua isn't strong. He is. Very strong. In fact, I think he's going to frustrate defenses because they're going to struggle getting him down, even when they think they've got him. When he gets the nod for the start, he's going to be a force, but it benefits him to be sitting behind the extremely experienced veteran, Ryan Fitzpatrick, who's been on half the teams in the league. Tua has no pressure to start producing on day one because of his return from injury, and having a successful Ryan Fitzpatrick ahead of him. When that changes, and it's Tua's turn, I expect Lamar Jackson type numbers in rushing, and better than Lamar in passing, and throwing touchdown numbers. So, as a late round backup, stash or as an early waiver/free agency QB pickup in redraft leagues, I like it a lot. He is a league winner, and I'm calling it now. I thought it would be Kyler Murray this season, and it has a higher probability of happening, but Tua may be a QB on a lot of fantasy football team champions. If Tua gets to play, he's going to wow everyone. I love this guy. You should too. He should be flagged so you can keep an eye on him. He's one of my favorite sneaky beginning/mid season fantasy assets that has a high ceiling. I can see him starting the 3rd or 4th game, unless Ryan Fitzpatrick lights it up from game one, and keeps doing it consistently or Tua isn't ready for one reason or another. I wouldn't put my money on Pickspatrick accomplishing that, but Tua may need more time. Although, he states he feels 100% after his hip surgery. I lean on the side that they'll wait for Ryan Fitzpatrick to lose his first or second game, and then they'll unleash the beast.

Returns to the TEN offense and system that made him a Top-3 QB from when he took over. Will be tough to retain his insane TD efficiency though, and the playoffs emphasized his low low floor whenever Henry takes over games completely on his own.
