Zachary Hanshew
FantasyPros
The second-round pick appeared in just seven games in 2019 due to a variety of injuries, though he's entering this season with an optimistic outlook on his health. He should take the field in 3WR sets alongside Michael Pittman and T.Y. Hilton, and the speedy Ohio State product could be valuable in deeper leagues.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Watkins missed six of K.C.'s final seven regular-season games in 2018 before returning to rack up 10 catches for 176 yards over a pair of playoff games. He began '19 with nine catches for 198 yards and three TDs in the season opener, then averaged fewer than 37 yards with no scores over his final 13 regular-season games before totaling 288 yards over three post-season wins.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Here's some unexpected Sammy Watkins trivia: He received more targets than Tyreek Hill in 2019, he has the same cap hit as Hill and he's only one year older! I'm not saying Watkins and Hill are even in the same universe fantasy-wise but it is unreasonable to totally dismiss Watkins. We've seen how busy he can get when Hill (or potentially Kelce) is out and he's still had some big games with everybody fit. I want pieces of this Chiefs offense and Watkins is likely to get first crack at the WR2 role. That's worth drafting. The Parris Campbell hype is growing but it's rather overblown. I understand the Rivers-slot connection and Parris does have talent, I just don't seem him as much more than a possible flex option in PPR if things go right. I'd rather shoot for a little more upside.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Does anyone else believe that Watkins may have played through injury in 2019? He hadn't tallied anything less than 8.3 yards per target over the previous four years, and that's despite some subpar quarterback talent in Buffalo and Los Angeles. Knowing that Watkins is the No. 2 option at wide receiver in a Patrick Mahomes-led offense and that he's going outside the top-50 wide receivers is bananas. Sure, he was bad in 2019, but he looked like the player we thought he'd be once they got to the playoffs, as he compiled 14 receptions for 288 yards and a touchdown on 18 targets in their three playoff games. The Chiefs also had an opportunity to move on from Watkins this offseason, but they decided to keep him on the roster. He may not be an every-week option from the get-go, but knowing you have a player tied to Patrick Mahomes who saw six-plus targets in 10-of-17 games last year should carry some weight. Snagging him as a WR4/5 with upside makes too much sense, as we can't let one inefficient year erase what he's been throughout his career. There's an avenue to him finishing as a WR3 without injury in front of him.If T.Y. Hilton continues to miss time with his hamstring ailment, Campbell is a candidate for sleeper of the year. Going back through the years with Philip Rivers, there's always been a target over the middle of the field. Whether it be Antonio Gates, Hunter Henry, Keenan Allen, or Eddie Royal. Campbell is going to fill the slot role when T.Y. Hilton is healthy, which isn't a bad thing. And if Hilton were to miss time, Campbell will move around the formation. Fortunately, he's a bigger, stronger, and faster version of Hilton. We haven't seen him play at the level Hilton has, but the Colts did draft him in the second round last year, highlighting their vision for him in this offense. While Hilton remains sidelined and rookie Michael Pittman tries to acclimate to the NFL, Campbell is a dark horse to lead this team in targets. Taking him in the double-digit rounds makes tons of sense, and best of all, you'll find out what you have over the first couple weeks.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Only the real risk-takers go after a guy like Watkins. We all know the upside is there, especially in the Chiefs offense but whether it's due to injury or simply poor performance, he can never string together a strong season. He is a boom or bust flex play at best until he proves he can stay healthy and play at a high level consistently.Campbell's rookie season was cut short due to injury but now back at 100%, he's an interesting player to watch heading into 2020. He's got an upgrade at QB with Philip Rivers and should be second in line for targets. That being said, he hasn't shown enough yet to be worthy of a draft pick.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Watkins has the talent to be a top-24 WR for fantasy football and he's in the right offense for that to happen. For some reason though, Watkins just has not been able to be consistent and he's burned fantasy owners year after year. Watkins is nothing more than a WR4 this season at best.As of right now, Campbell and Hilton might cancel each other out from a fantasy football perspective. However, if Hilton misses time again this season, Campbell would immediately jump up into top-30 WR discussion.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Campbell outproduced Terry McLaurin in college while being two years younger. He was also a higher draft selection. He's an interesting late round pick at WR.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Campbell should be a prime sleeper this season, after missing all but seven games in his rookie season with injury. Philip Rivers likes to push the ball deep, and Campbell's elite speed should mesh with Rivers' skill set well. You can't rely on any Colts wide receiver outside of T.Y. Hilton as a fantasy starter, but Campbell has tons of upside and can play out of the slot, and should be drafted and stashed on fantasy benches everywhere.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Targets a game: 2019 - 7 2018 - 6.6 If we can stop trying to call him a bust based on his early career trajectory, and just accept him as a flex play in a dangerous offense we will live a much happier life. His health has been problematic, so I get that. He is not a WR1 or 2, so live with it, and don't draft him as anything more.Only had 3 games where he was on the field at least 49% of the time. Had 18 targets in those 3 games. Abdominal injury, Fractured Hand, Fractured Foot. Check, Check, Check. 97th+ percentile 40 yard dash, Speed, and Burst Score? Check, Check, Check. 6', 200lbs. 1000 yard season while sharing the field with Terry McLaurin at Ohio St. Now, his competition. Pittman hasn't been a pillar of health himself: broken collarbone (January 2016), hand surgery (January 2017), high left ankle sprain (August 2017), broken nose (August 2017) and shoulder surgery (January 2019), and he fills a completely different roll than Campbell. Pittman is not a YAC threat like Campbell. Hilton also hasn't played 16 games since 2017. Counting on a healthy season at 31 is just as risky as any of the IND options. I'm ready for a Chark like bounce back in year 2, after everyone has moved on to the next shiny toy in Indy, Pittman.
