Phenomenally versatile game-breaker (21 combined runs/receptions of 20+ yards most at RB), but team context could hurt him a bit (e.g. loss of OBJ, QB issues)Air Raid system of new HC Kingsbury leans heavily to the pass and history of RBs under him is concerning for DJ, but Kingsbury will likely have to conform a bit to NFL and DJ has no competition concerns
Kevin Wheeler
DraftWize
Kingsbury himself said Johnson will see an "extensive" role that could involve as many as 35 carries or 10 catches in a given game, which could return DJ to his fantasy glory days of 2016. Last season, he got a touch on 34% of plays, but the Cardinals ranked 31st in plays per game with only 56.4. In 2016, Johnson touched the ball at the same rate for a squad that ranked second with 67.9 plays per game, and the result was a league-leading 373 touches and the best fantasy running back season of the past half-decade. @ChrisRaybon
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
There is zero to dislike about Barkley as a player, as he was second in the league last year with 1,307 rushing yards and caught 91 passes, second in running backs to only Christian McCaffrey. But his production waned somewhat without Odell Beckham Jr., and with all the issues with the Giants' wide receivers, defenses will surely be focused on not letting Barkley beat them. But those are all minimal concerns when you consider Barkley's talent and likely usage. He's one of the top few picks in your draft, if not the first selection. The Cardinals offense was a disaster last season, and although Johnson saw plenty of work and put up enough fantasy points to be relevant, his production from recent years went down significantly. But all of that should be just a bad memory now, with the addition of Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray. Kingsbury's system doesn't focus all that much on passes to running backs, but given Johnson's talent level, he should make up for it elsewhere. Expect an elite season, albeit perhaps one that falls short of his 2016 level.
Rich Piazza
Fantasy Shed
The separation between Barkley and McCaffrey for the top spot has to do with the supporting cast. There is nobody on the Giants roster that should be a threat to Barkley for goal-line opportunities. CMC is going to lose some touches in that area to Cam, and possibly Jordan Scarlett and others.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Barkley was 2nd in fantasy points by running backs in his rookie season and he should continue to his ascent towards becoming the best running back in the NFL.Johnson was the victim of having a bad coaching staff and supporting cast, hopefully their offensive system will help utilize his special talents. He is a low-end RB1 that should benefit playing with rookie QB Kyler Murray in a fast paced offense.

My overall rankings are for 2QB/Superflex.

1307/11 rushing and 91/721/4 receiving AS A ROOKIE! He is going to get the ball 20+ times a game, easily. He was also ridiculously consistent. Had 2 games under 15.5 half ppr points all of last season which is absurd.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Barkley had ONE game all of last season with less than 50 rushing yards, less than 5 catches, and no TDs. He's one big run away from being the overall RB1 every week.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Barkley is an absolute freak. He has a 96th percentile bench press, a 97th percentile burst score, a 99th percentile height adjusted speed score, a 99th percentile SPARQ-x score, and is one of the best receiving backs in the league. He can take any play to the house, and can save even his poor fantasy performances with his receiving upside. He ran for over 1,300 yards and 15 total TD's last season, averaging 5.0 YPC on one of the worst offenses in football. Oh, and he also caught 91 balls. There are two big concerns with Barkley The first is that his YPC is likely to regress this season. He had 16 carries for 641 yards on runs of 20+ yards. While this is one of his strengths, you can't expect him to rush for that many yards on long runs each season. The second concern is his offense. This is going to be one of the worst offenses in the league, and it's very difficult for a RB to pay off top overall value when the offense around them is so bad. I'm ok drafting Barkley...but he usually goes first overall, which means I'll have 0% of him.I have a higher ranking and projection on DJ than most people do. My argument is simple, last season was the absolute worst case scenerio for DJ. His team struggled to score TD's, his QB played terrible, and his offensive coordinator was pathetic at play calling. Despite all of this...he was able to finish as the RB 10 in half PPR leagues. This season the offense should take a complete 180. They have a new head coach in Kliff Kingsbury that wants to lead the league in plays run, and they have the first overall pick in Kyler Murray, who's a massive upgrade from Josh Rosen. In 2018 the Cardinals were dead last with just 14.1 points per game, and they ran the second fewest plays per game. At the very least, they are going to improve apon thos numbers...and that's great news for DJ. I cannot stress enough how massive of a boost it would be going from just 56 plays per game, up to 70 per game. Not to mention the fact that they might actually be in the red zone for a few of those plays. Draft DJ with confidence.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
During his rookie season, while playing behind a shoddy offensive line and in a low-scoring offense, Barkley overcame all odds and delivered a fantasy MVP-worthy performance. He finished as an RB1 in 75 percent of his games, while hitting at least RB2 numbers in 93.8 percent of his games. Some are excited about his target possibilities with Odell Beckham Jr. gone, but it's likely going to bring more attention to him and the run-game. Still, Barkley showed last year that he's able to overcome a lot, making him a relatively safe top-three selection in every format, but the lack of scoring from this offense can really hold him back. Now that Steve Wilks is out of town, maybe we'll get back to the normally scheduled programming with Johnson. The air-raid offense that new coach Kliff Kingsbury figures to bring to the Cardinals should give Johnson a lot more work in the passing game. While at Texas Tech, Kingsbury passed the ball on 65 percent of their plays. By comparison, there were just two teams in the NFL who hit that number in 2018. With Kyler Murray presenting elusiveness, it should only help create lanes for Johnson, even if his offensive line is still weak
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Barkley is the consensus 1.1 pick for a reason; he is the most talented running back to enter the league since Adrian Peterson and perhaps even Barry Sanders. With that said, he plays behind one of the league's worst offensive lines and teams may stack the box more often with Beckham now in Cleveland. Still yet, Saquon dominated last year despite the rest of the offense struggling, plus he is game script proof. Now that Melvin Gordon is claiming he will hold out, Johnson is the clear RB5 and will most likely be the 5th pick off the board in most drafts ahead of Hopkins. He was not as good last year, in part because of the offensive line but primarily because the Cardinals ran so few plays. That should change this year under Kingsbury so don't hesitate because of his numbers last season.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Saquon's a transcendent talent at the running back position. He's in an incredible position this season to exceed 2,000 total yards again and that New York Giants offense is going to run through him. He should be the 1.01 in every draft this season.David Johnson fell into fantasy football hell last season with Mike McCoy as the OC in Arizona. Now, Kliff Kingsbury is in town with Kyler Murray and DJ is going to be leaned on heavily in this offense. The running lanes should be there with defenses regularly on their heels and DJ is going to soak up targets in this pass heavy offense. It simply comes down a question of Touchdowns...is this offense going to be explosive enough in year one with a rookie QB that David Johnson will get the scoring opportunities needed to be a top-tier RB? If you believe the answer is yes, then you should be all in on DJ at his ADP.
