With the news of Dixon being out for the year, West skyrockets up draft boards. There is always the chance that the Ravens would be unsatisfied with West as a starter and go acquire a better back, but until then, West must be drafted in the top 40 based on expected touches alone. The Packers have produced excellent fantasy running back performances for 3 of the past 4 seasons with last year being the lone exception. Montgomery was their most effective runner, but they only trusted him with double-digit carries just once. It is quite possible that Williams claims this job for himself in the pre-season and never looks back on his way to a top 15 RB finish.

West has surging value with Kenneth Dixon ruled out for the year.

West impressed at times last season, but he is not much more than a journeyman running back. With Kenneth Dixon ruled out for the season, West value has skyrocketed. Rookie Jamaal Williams will try to take carries away from Ty Montgomery. He will have Fantasy value at some point in 2017, if not from the start. Auction Value $7

West will likely be the early down back while Kenneth Dixon is suspended the first month of the season.I like Williams as an early down back in Green Bay, which isn't a bad place to be due to the team's strong offense getting him close to the end zone and passing game leaving defenses soft up the middle. Keep a close eye on this running back battle, as the Packers have talent at the position.

FantasyPros
At the very least, you should get four usable performances out of West while Kenneth Dixon is serving his suspension. Fresh to start the season, West averaged 4.70 yards per carry with three touchdowns in the first six games, but struggled down the stretch, averaging just 3.43 yards per carry once Dixon joined the backfield. He also scored just two rushing touchdowns over the final 10 games with Dixon, making him unplayable. At least he's a very cheap guy to target with Dixon, as you're guaranteed the starting running back for the Ravens with just your 8th and 10th round picks. Williams is a running back built for a workhorse role, as evidenced by his seven games with 24 or more carries with BYU last year. While Ty Montgomery may be a fine converted running back, Williams was built to carry a load. Williams is a dark horse candidate to be 2017's version of Jordan Howard.

He could have a chance to beat-out Montgomery, but so coul;d Aaron Jones who was drafted right behind Williams for GB.
