Fantasy Football Advice
Miller has never been an exciting pick, but he's been over 1,000 total yards, with at least 6 TD's in 5 consecutive seasons. He's also been a model of health, missing just 4 games over the past 6 seasons. That's solid value in the mid portion of drafts. I do think that Foreman is going to take work from him this year, so it wouldn't shock me if he's under 1,000 yards this season. To me, you need to make a decision. If you don't think Foreman is good, then target Miller. If you think Foreman is a threat, then fade Miller and perhaps target Foreman in the later rounds. It's been reported that one of Coleman/McKinnon/Breida will be inactive each week during the regular season. Breida proved to be a valuable asset last season, and assuming McKinnon is fully recovered from his torn ACL (he should be, but will get stronger as the season progresses), then it's entirely possible that Coleman is a healthy scratch some weeks this year. That's going to be frustrating for fantasy, but you can also look at it a different way. Yes, you might be upset 90 minutes before his start time (often the late start), but if they're only using two backs...then it's no longer a committee. If the only active backs heading into a week are Coleman and McKinnon...then Coleman is going to be a RB 2. That's a value for where you're getting him in drafts. I do expect Coleman to be active the most out of this group...although Breida is a great RB, and there will be plenty of weeks where the both of them are active. Ultimately, this is a situation where you're betting on the 49ers offense in the mid to late portion of your draft. And I'm more than ok with that. They got very unlucky last season, and should be around 8-8 to 9-7 this year. I'm not targeting Coleman, but I'm also not avoiding him.

FantasyPros
Miller has been able to hang on to his job thus far, but he is a low-upside flex option that did not live up to the monster contract he received from the Texans. He could also see competition to his job from RB D'Onta Foreman. The 49ers running back situation is fluid, but I think Coleman becomes the lead back in Kyle Shanahan's offense, but only a RB3 in fantasy football as the 49ers utilize one of the deeper RBBC situations in the NFL.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
He hasn't been the sexiest fantasy pick in recent years, but he's continually delivered RB2-type numbers for RB3 cost. After watching the Texans pass over plenty of running backs in the draft, it was a lock for Miller to be on the roster. Not just that, but they upgraded the offensive line through the draft as well, which can only help his efficiency. He isn't going to win you your fantasy league, but he's not going to lose it, either. If anyone outside of Kyle Shanahan tells you what to expect out of the 49ers backfield, they're lying to you. Don't forget with even less talent on the roster last year, you couldn't figure out if it would be Matt Brieda, Alfred Morris, or Raheem Mostert. We now add Coleman, who had his best years under Shanahan, and Jerick McKinnon, who will be returning from a torn ACL. It's likely to be a timeshare, though there will be valuable weeks among them, and Coleman figures to lead the charge.
