FantasyPros
There are real questions surrounding Gurley as we enter the 2019 season. Not only did C.J. Anderson play over him during the playoffs, but the Rams also traded up to the start of the third-round to select Darrell Henderson, an explosive running back out of Memphis. The Rams also matched an offer sheet the Lions submitted to backup running back Malcolm Brown, meaning the Rams are more worried about Gurley than they're letting on. We all know Gurley comes with plenty of upside, but we also know you can't win your fantasy league in the first-round, but you can definitely help lose it.For years, it's been Evans' show in Tampa Bay. He's averaged 148 targets over the last four years. He'll now be competing with Chris Godwin and O.J. Howard, who have carved out important roles in the offense. The arrival of Bruce Arians is a positive on the offense as a whole, but the running backs are going to score a lot more points than they did under Dirk Koetter. Evans is a relatively safe pick as a low-end WR1 but his ceiling may not be what it used to be
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Gurley slides in my rankings due to health, last year's slide and the arrival of talent at his position. H e just may end up being a massive steal in round two (or 3!), but the risk this early is quite clear.Evans has monster upside as always and a better system under Bruce Arians could deliver his best season yet.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Gurley most certainly slowed down at the end of the year and comes with risk because of the unknown surrounding his knee. With that said, he was so exceptional each of the last two years that even with a 25% drop in production, he would still be an easy top 10 back. He still has more upside than any back including this year's big four so don't hesitate to snag him in the back end of the first round if you are feeling lucky.Evans has remarkably started his career with five consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. The touchdowns aren't consistent, but fantasy owners can rely on him to post plenty of points once again. The primary concern is that Chris Godwin and O.J. Howard may be good enough cut into his target share a bit, but Evans should still be drafted as a WR1.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Gurley was having one of the more dominant running back seasons in recent memory before injuring his knee late in the year. His playoff performance only added to fantasy owners' concerns, and the Rams' drafting of Darrell Henderson cemented those worries. His knee issues are reportedly the result of some sort of arthritis, which is obviously concerning. But even with a decreased workload, Gurley's spot as the lead back in an explosive offense makes him a borderline RB1, albeit not one without risk.Evans has been a relatively consistent fantasy force, though his touchdown catches have varied wildly from year-to-year. He'll be in a new offense with Bruce Arians running the show, but that certainly shouldn't be a negative, as Arians' offensive scheme should lead to plenty of production. Although both DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries are gone, Chris Godwin should take on a larger role. In other words, you should expect Evans to see similar targets and give similar production to last year, making him a strong WR1.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
No. 1 RB in '18 falls down the '19 draft list because of an arthritic knee that is expected to bring about a reduced-workload maintenance plan by the Rams - definition of a high risk/reward pickCan struggle with week-to-week consistency, but he rarely misses a game and has averaged a 79/1220/8 line in his 5 seasons, numbers he's a great bet to reach in this year's Tampa environment
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
I never want to hear that my RB1 is managing his arthritic component in his knee and his usage in the postseason last year screamed that knee had some issues. He is still a RB1 in a great scheme, but I think the days of him being the best fantasy running back in the NFL are over, as the Rams will need to manage his touches for him to stay healthy.Mike Evans is one of the most gifted receivers in the NFL, but he fails to dominate in the red zone the way he should. I think he will have a very good season, but I think Godwin will be the best fantasy wide receiver in Tampa Bay.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Mike Evans put up the quietest 1,500 receiving yard season ever last year. He now gets an offensive mastermind in Bruce Arians in as head coach and all indications point to them throwing the ball a ton this season. The running game is shaky, at best, and the defense still has massive holes on that roster. The Bucs are going to air the ball out this season and Mike Evans stands to be the biggest beneficiary. He's an incredible value at his current ADP.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Unfortunately, I will not have any shares of Todd Gurley this season. It's not that he can't have a good year, it's just that it's not worth the risk. With Darrell Henderson drafted to fill the Alvin Kamara role, his upside is capped. We know he's never again going to see the same sort of volume he has over the past few seasons, so even being in this prolific offense might not be able to save him. There is absolutely a chance that Gurley pays off his ADP and carries your team to the championship. However, it's unlikely, and just not worth the gamble. Unless he falls to the third round I can't justify drafting him.Mike Evans has never been under 1,000 yards in his 5 year career. The Bucs also traded DeSean Jackson and didn't resign Adam Humphries. It might not seem like a lot, but that's 179 vacated targets. Some of that will go to Howard and Godwin...but some will also go to Evans. I have him projected for 142 targets this season, but I could easily see him going over 150. He had less of a red zone role than I expected last season, but those numbers should rebound in 2019. Evans is a great pick, and his ADP is really nice in the mid to late second round.
