Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | With their backs up against the salary cap, the Dallas Cowboys didn't have an offseason to remember for anybody heavily invested in Dak Prescott's 2022 fantasy prospects. They gave up Amari Cooper and lost two key starting offensive pieces on the offensive line with La'el Collins and Connor Williams for little return. They did re-sign Dalton Schultz and Michael Gallup, but early reports on Gallup indicate it will be close whether he's ready for Week 1 coming off the torn ACL. Dallas' biggest move in free agency and the NFL Draft to combat their losses was signing former Steelers wide receiver James Washington, drafting Jalen Tolbert in Round 3 and selecting offensive tackle project Tyler Smith in Round 1. With many other quarterbacks benefitting from better team off seasons, Prescott has fallen in my rankings well past his QB9 ADP making it less likely I draft him. He finished as the QB9 last year in points per game, and I'd argue his situation - aside from health - isn't as ideal as it was a season ago. His rushing also hit career-low numbers in 2021. | |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Brady led the league with 5,316 yards passing and 43 passing touchdowns, but he does turn 45 years old this year. The biggest concern is that they are going to be running the ball more with a new head coach and Chris Godwin is not a guarantee to be ready in Week 1. Brady is still in the QB1discussion, which is amazing given his age. | Dak bounced back from an ankle injury that ended his 2020 season by throwing for 4,154 yards and 32 touchdowns in the 2021 fantasy season. His rushing production took a slight dip with just 146 yards rushing and 1 rushing TD and they traded away Amari Cooper in the offseason. He's on the borderline between QB1 and QB2. |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | At age 44, Tom Brady attempted the most passes in the league (719) and finished with the most passing yards (5,316) and second-most passing touchdowns (43) in any single season of his career. Brady was the QB3 in fantasy points per game. While he might not reach those heights in 2022, he will still be leading one of the NFL's fastest-paced and most talented offenses. If Brady's fountain of youth and avocado milkshakes can hold off father time, he's a top 5-10 option at the position in fantasy. | Dak Prescott rebounded nicely from a lost 2020 season (due to injury) as the QB9 in weekly fantasy scoring. Prescott's former rushing floor evaporated as he finished with the lowest rushing yardage total (146) for a full season of his career. Despite losing Amari Cooper this offseason, the Cowboy's passing attack should be fine as the team retained Michael Gallup and Dalton Schultz and added Jalen Tolbert and James Washington. Dallas led the NFL in neutral pace last season. With heightened play volume helping his passing numbers, Prescott should have no issues compensating for the lost rushing production as a locked-in top ten fantasy quarterback. |
Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | He un-retired after little more than a month and will play at age 45. Can he continue to defy Father Time? It seems silly to bet against him at this point. | Dak will be entering his age-29 season, putting him squarely in the prime of his career. He struggled at times during the second half of last season but finished with 12 TD passes and 0 INTs in his final three-regular season games. His supporting cast should be strong again, though Cowboys figure to lose WR Michael Gallup and perhaps TE Dalton Schultz in free agency. One troubling development for Dak's fantasy value: The Dallas defense has become one of the best in the league, which means fewer shootout game scripts. |
