He will probably lose end-zone targets with Sammy Watkins in the mix, but he will remain a focal point of this offense. He's the ultimate safety valve in a potent offense.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
He and D. Walker are only two TEs to have 800+ yards in each of past 4 seasons - fair to consider how things can change from QB A. Smith to young gun P. Mahomes, but it'd be crazy for KC to veer too far away from the ridiculous athleticism that Kelce brings to their TE positionDespite missing five games over the past three seasons, Ertz has still managed 70+ catches and 800+ yards in each of those campaigns - the Philly offense remains ripe for more of the same from Ertz
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
While some will try to make the argument for Kelce over Rob Gronkowski, I won't be one of them, simply because the Chiefs now have an abundance of offensive weapons that are going to need touches. They signed Sammy Watkins for nearly $50 million, which tells you how much they wanted him, and Tyreek Hill has remained as efficient as ever, so it's hard to argue that you should take targets away from him. Ultimately, I still love Kelce as an asset, but he's lost some of the upside he presented in 2017, which still had him finish eight points behind Gronkowski... and he played one more game than Gronkowski did, too. The change in quarterback may not be a downgrade, but don't call it an upgrade. If Ertz can stay on the field for all 16 games, he's could be right there in the tier with Gronk and Kelce, but he's dealt with some nagging injuries the last two seasons that have caused him to miss four games. Still, his consistency is something, as he's not finished with 74-78 catches and 816-853 yards in each of the last three seasons, though he doubled his touchdown output in 2017. It wasn't a bad thing to see Trey Burton leave, but the Eagles immediately replaced him with Dallas Goedert, who is a massive red zone threat. Because of that, I'll keep Ertz in the tier below the alpha dogs, but he's not far behind. The fact that Alshon Jeffery may start the season on the PUP list only increases the hype for Ertz.
Staff Rankings
QB List
Kelce, unlike Gronk, has been a beacon of health over the last four seasons. However, Gronk has the reliability of a quarterback like Tom Brady, whereas Kelce will be relying on Patrick Mahomes and his one career start. Alex Smith, love him or hate him, was very very good last season. Mahomes is likely going to represent a step backward, which makes for caution around Kelce. Still, his body of work is elite enough that he's a top three tight end unless Johnny Manziel is his QB.Ertz has more receptions than Gronk in each of the last three seasons. He also gets a full season from Carson Wentz next year, and won't have to compete with Trey Burton for catches. I fully expect Ertz to match or exceed the 78 catches for 824 yards and eight touchdowns that he had last season, which could easily make him the No. 1 tight end when all is said and done.
Chet Gresham
WalterFootball
Kelce led all tight ends in fantasy points last season but will have a new quarterback and offensive coordinator for 2018. I like Patrick Mahomes quite a bit and think he could help Kelce put up even better numbers, but he's also a wild card. I won't be drafting any tight end early this season, so ADP will help dictate where my priorities lie.Ertz has similar upside to the top two tight ends here, but he also ha more competition for targets. As long as Philadelphia remains a pass-heavy offense, I expect Ertz to be consistent, which is extremely tough for tight ends not named Gronkowski and Olsen in recent years.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Not only has Kelce missed just one game in four seasons, but he also has more yards than Gronk in that time. The reason I do not have him over Ertz is that I am of the party who believes Pat Mahomes is a major step back from Alex Smith. Last season, Smith was among the most efficient passers in the league on both deep balls and short passes. Mahomes has played one game so I'm unwilling to buy into him on the same level as an MVP candidate like Smith, and that means I'll be cautious with his assets as well. You may not believe this, but Ertz has three consecutive seasons with more receptions than Gronk. With Trey Burton gone and a full season of Carson Wentz, I have no problem taking Ertz even before Gronk and Kelce this season. He has only missed five games in five seasons. Meanwhile, Gronk has missed at least five games in four of his eight career seasons.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
After ending 2016's star-making breakout second in receptions (85) and first in receiving yards (1,125) among TEs, Kelce finished last year first in catches (83) and second in yards (1,308). He took the position's top PPR ranking each time. He's a worthy third-round pick who should go shortly after, if not before Rob Gronkowski. Before missing Week 9 with a hamstring injury, Ertz secured 64 catches for 528 yards and six TDs. He returned to average a tamer 49.3 YPG, but nevertheless comfortably finished as the TE3 despite missing two games. TD regression should drop him from the elite tier to the solid top-10 choice of past years, but a steady workflow should yield plenty more red-zone opportunities in a dynamic Eagles offense.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
While Kelce isn't #1, he still is an elite TE and can't be dropped out of the top 5. Due to his talent, role and upside, he remains my 1B to Gronk's 1A.I love Ertz, but last year was his first truly elite NFL showing. I still love him as a TE1 but he's quite a bit below the top two options in my eyes.

Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Kelce may take a step back this year if the Chiefs move on from QB Alex Smith, but he is still going to see a ton of targets and he is a great red zone threat. Ertz probably would have finished as the second best fantasy tight end if he had not sat out two games and if QB Carson Wentz had not been injured in Week 14. Ertz is an elite fantasy tight end.
