Led all TEs in rec. yards (1377) and his 10.2 yards gained average after the catch was more than a yard higher than any other receiver in the league, and 3 yards higher than his expected yards after the catch avg. (7.0)
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Hilton had only 76 receptions, but those went for 1,270 yards and 6 touchdowns. QB Andrew Luck's arm strength improved over the season and Hilton's numbers should be better, provided QB Andrew Luck does not miss too much time with a calf injury.Kittle had 88 receptions for 1,377 yards and 5 touchdowns on an offense that started 3 quarterbacks last year. There is an argument to be made that he is the best receiving tight end in football, but I would still rank him below Kelce due to the QB situation in San Francisco.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
It's tough to know if he can repeat a 88/1377/5 line, but it's important to note he only scored FIVE TDs. Even if his yardage and catches drop, he has the TD upside to make up for it.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
TY Hilton went 76/120 receptions/targets with 1270/6 in 14 games last season. This season he'll be Juju lite version, 90 receptions, which he's done before in 2016, 1500 yards, reached 1448 in 2016, and a career high 8 TDs. Why? The Colts are bringing back their entire offensive line for a second year which never happens in today's NFL and Andrew Luck is fully healthy. He is going to have time to throw, and that time is going to lead too even more TY Hilton bombs. He averages 16 Y/R in his career.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It went from Hilton as the only show in town, to what looks like a full house. He'll now compete with Devin Funchess, Parris Campbell, Eric Ebron, Jack Doyle, and Nyheim Hines for targets, though the connection between him and Luck cannot be duplicated. Hilton had always been known as a boom or bust type receiver, but Frank Reich's arrival boosted his consistency, as he posted WR2 or better numbers in a career-high 64.3 percent of his gamesYou have to give Kittle a ton of credit for what he did in 2018. He played with a combination of Jimmy Garoppolo, C.J. Beathard, and Nick Mullens, yet managed to set the yardage record for a tight end. Getting Garoppolo back for the full season should help, but he may lose a few targets considering Dante Pettis is now in a starting role, while the 49ers drafted Deebo Samuel in the second-round and Jalen Hurd in the third-round. He's still a force to be reckoned with and one of the three tight ends worth a pick in the first three rounds
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Through his seven year career, Hilton has finished inside the top 20 wideouts just 4 times and only once higher than #10. His upside is likely outside that top 10 being that he is 30 years old and sharing an offense with so many weapons. Fantasy owners can expect another strong WR2 season, however. Not only did Kittle receive for more yards than any tight end in football history last year, but he did it with Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard as his quarterbacks. Enter Jimmy Garoppolo and we might see an even better season. Granted, the 49ers have some weapons in the passing game, but among them, Kittle is still the number one and you likely can't say that about Ertz in Philly with Alshon roaming around.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
We saw a complete emergence from George Kittle in 2018 that has lead to unimaginable hype for the young TE. With that being said, there's reason to be cautious with Kittle moving forward. We've seen a very small sample size with Kittle and Garoppolo and the 49ers added a bunch of other weapons to that offense this offseason. Kittle will still be heavily involved, but we may not see 1,300 receiving yards from him again in 2019...Temper your expectations, but still feel confident drafting Kittle in the 4th-5th rounds of your redraft leagues.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
As a result of a hamstring pull in week 4, Hilton missed week's 5-6, played on a limited snap count in week 7, then acted mostly as a decoy in week 8 before a week 9 bye. However, from week 10 on he posted a jaw dropping 917 receiving yards. If we take his average stat line from weeks 10-17, and extrapolate over a full season, it comes out to 100/1,834/4. Juju had the second most receiving yards over that stretch...with 163 less yards. Nick Sirianni and Frank Reich have done an amazing job with this offense, and the return of Doyle, plus the addition of Campbell should mean that no team can possibly double Hilton. He's going to have some mediocre weeks, but he's also going to win you a few on his own. I'm comfortable taking him at his current ADP.George Kittle is going to be the centerpiece of the 49ers passing offense. So while we can't expect him to break the single season receiving record again, he should still have a great season. We still don't have a large enough sample to know exactly how well Kittle will perform with Garoppolo...but it's safe to assume he's not a downgrade from what they had last season. Kittle is now entering his third season as a pro, at a position that's notoriously difficult for young players. He's also missed just one game in his short two year career, although it's worth noting that he still has suffered a few injuries over the past few years. I view Kittle as a safe pick in the third round if you want to target a TE early. Unfortunately, he routinely gets taken in the second...an ADP which I'm less in love with.
