Whether or not Green is healthy, Boyd is going to be peppered with targets. We saw last year he can play, but now he'll explode.Engram is a great athlete with red-zone chops. If Eli Manning wasn't under center I might have him 4th.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's like everyone forgot how good A.J. Green is/was, and now he's dropping down draft boards while Boyd is skyrocketing up them. It's not to say Boyd will return to the waiver wire fodder he was his first two seasons in the league where he scored 15 PPR points just twice in 26 games, but he's not going to return to the player who saw seven or more targets in 9-of-14 games with Green back in the lineup. Do we really believe Andy Dalton can support two consistent top-24 receivers? That's what you're banking on with Boyd, because we know Green will be there if healthy. The only time Dalton has produced two top-30 receivers was in 2014, when Green missed three games, allowing Mohamed Sanu to finish as the WR29. It's not to say it's not possible Boyd takes a leap in the new offense, but he's being drafted at/near his ceiling without a Green injuryRemember when Engram finished his rookie season as the No. 5 tight end? Well, he did that because the volume was there. He saw 115 targets that season because of the injuries to Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall. Those guys are both gone, and while Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate remain, those guys aren't going to see the target share of Beckham. Not only did Engram's target-share dip last year, but he also dealt with some injuries, leading him to finish outside the top-10 in his sophomore season. The expectation should be that he'll see 100-plus targets in 2019, which is something only 4-5 tight ends can say
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
The casual fantasy owner probably thinks that Boyd's breakout in 2018 was because of A.J. Green's injury. But Boyd was nearly as productive with Green on the field. Either way, Green is already battling an injury that will force him to miss multiple games, so Boyd should see plenty of targets. There's little else in the Bengals' receiving group, so particularly early in the season, Boyd should be highly productive.Engram played only 11 games last season, but had solid if unspectacular production when he was on the field. Engram's numbers have been substantially better whenever a Giants' wide receiver misses time, and considering that Odell Beckham Jr. is gone, Golden Tate is suspended, and Sterling Shepard is dealing with a thumb injury, Engram offers plenty of value, particularly early in the season. His upside may be capped by Eli Manning (unless or until he is replaced by Daniel Jones), but he still makes one of the best options after the top tier of tight ends is off the board.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Tyler Boyd was a stud last year and I don't really understand his ADP. In 14 games last season he totaled 1028 yards and 7 TDs on 108 targets. He became a consistent weekly WR2 and he was also utilized in the red zone. I called Robert Woods last season as a must have WR at ADP. Boyd is my 2019 Woods.Seemingly has a bunch of upside because he should see easily 100 targets, but Eli is throwing him the ball, which also limits his upside. Solid choice if you miss out on the big three TEs but you have to spend a high pick on him and he also has injury history.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Andy Dalton's True Throw Value last season before getting hurt was .481. That puts him above league average and sandwiches him between Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers. If we look at QBs in a similar TTV tier, we see Cousins - who supported Theilen and Diggs, Rodgers - Who supported Adams and Allison/MVS, then Newton and Brady, two guys who don't necessarily support two startable WRs at this stage in their career. It's going to come down to target share for Tyler Boyd (Which will obviously be effected by AJ Green's health).Engram saw 125 targets and put up a 64/722/6 line in his ROOKIE season. Remarkable when considering how much rookie TEs struggle. Of course it helps that he saw 125 targets, but if he can put up those numbers as a rookie, he can certainly improve in his third season on a team devoid of weapons. Last season when OBJ was out, Engram averaged 5.5/80/0.33.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Boyd just signed a four-year extension with the Bengals which means Zac Taylor must have big plans for him. A.J. Green is still the number one and will be back within a handful of weeks and Andy Dalton can only create so many fantasy points, but Boyd is a strong bet to finish as a WR3.Engram was injured for part of the season, but when he was healthy, he was solid once again, ranking 7th among all tight ends with 9.4 half-PPR points per game. The draw in Engram, of course, is the fact that Odell Beckham left in free agency, and while he has always been great, Golden Tate fills in and is also a target hog. When Engram had so many targets two years ago, Roger Lewis, was the #2 wideout so it is a much different scenario now than it was then.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I will not be drafting Tyler Boyd this season. His ADP is a bit too high for the third option in an Andy Dalton offense. A.J. Green is back, Mixon will get his touches...and I expect John Ross to at least take a small step forward this season. If you like Boyd then you better be drafting Andy Dalton, because the only way Boyd pays off his ADP is if Dalton goes off. With Odell being traded to the Browns, Engram once again finds himself as the top option in the passing game. He'll still need to compete with Shepard, Tate, Saquon...and...maybe...Corey Coleman for targets, but he's going to get all he can handle. He's also going to be used heavily in the red zone. Engram has averaged just under one red zone target per game in his two year career, but that should go up in 2019. Not only his it his third season (the general breakout season for TE's), but aside from Saquon, he's the only real red zone threat they have. Tate has never been a red zone guy, and while Shepard was given a lot of targets inside the 5 last season, we shouldn't expect him to see many while Engram is healthy. Ingram is one of the few receivers with 80/1000/10 upside.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Boyd had a breakout year with 1,026 yards receiving and 7 receiving touchdowns. He should be a WR3 with upside in a new offense this year.Engram really struggled early in the year when QB Eli Manning was not playing well. If they can find an effective quarterback in the NFL Draft, Engram has huge bounce-back potential.
