Whether or not Green is healthy, Boyd is going to be peppered with targets. We saw last year he can play, but now he'll explode.Philip Rivers knows how to utilize tight ends and Henry will be making up for lost time. He's a top-5 threat.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It's like everyone forgot how good A.J. Green is/was, and now he's dropping down draft boards while Boyd is skyrocketing up them. It's not to say Boyd will return to the waiver wire fodder he was his first two seasons in the league where he scored 15 PPR points just twice in 26 games, but he's not going to return to the player who saw seven or more targets in 9-of-14 games with Green back in the lineup. Do we really believe Andy Dalton can support two consistent top-24 receivers? That's what you're banking on with Boyd, because we know Green will be there if healthy. The only time Dalton has produced two top-30 receivers was in 2014, when Green missed three games, allowing Mohamed Sanu to finish as the WR29. It's not to say it's not possible Boyd takes a leap in the new offense, but he's being drafted at/near his ceiling without a Green injuryPrior to tearing his ACL, Henry's career arc was moving in the right direction. His per-target production is through the roof as he's seen 115 targets in his career that have amounted to 81 receptions for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns. By comparison, Zach Ertz saw 156 targets in 2018 and finished with 1,163 yards and 8 touchdowns
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
The casual fantasy owner probably thinks that Boyd's breakout in 2018 was because of A.J. Green's injury. But Boyd was nearly as productive with Green on the field. Either way, Green is already battling an injury that will force him to miss multiple games, so Boyd should see plenty of targets. There's little else in the Bengals' receiving group, so particularly early in the season, Boyd should be highly productive.Henry was a popular breakout candidate last year until he tore his ACL and missed the entire regular season. He's been an excellent fantasy option throughout his career, and that's been almost entirely with Antonio Gates on the field. With Gates now out of the way, Henry should see a bevy of targets from Philip Rivers, who has targeted his tight ends early and often. That immediately vaults him into the top 10 of tight ends, and you shouldn't hesitate to take him in the top five if necessary.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Tyler Boyd was a stud last year and I don't really understand his ADP. In 14 games last season he totaled 1028 yards and 7 TDs on 108 targets. He became a consistent weekly WR2 and he was also utilized in the red zone. I called Robert Woods last season as a must have WR at ADP. Boyd is my 2019 Woods.Really liked Hunter Henry at his ADP last season, but then he missed the entire season with a torn ACL and now he is being drafted at the same spot. It does scare me a bit. He was really coming into his own at the end of 2017 with over 50 receiving yards in 3 of his final 4 games and 2 TDs in that span with 16 receptions in those games. There are a lot of mouths to feed in San Diego though and the running backs basically combined to be a WR1 receiving last season.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Andy Dalton's True Throw Value last season before getting hurt was .481. That puts him above league average and sandwiches him between Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers. If we look at QBs in a similar TTV tier, we see Cousins - who supported Theilen and Diggs, Rodgers - Who supported Adams and Allison/MVS, then Newton and Brady, two guys who don't necessarily support two startable WRs at this stage in their career. It's going to come down to target share for Tyler Boyd (Which will obviously be effected by AJ Green's health).
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Boyd just signed a four-year extension with the Bengals which means Zac Taylor must have big plans for him. A.J. Green is still the number one and will be back within a handful of weeks and Andy Dalton can only create so many fantasy points, but Boyd is a strong bet to finish as a WR3.It is tough to know just how strong Henry will be in his return from the injury but seeing that he was prepared to play in the playoffs, it seems likely that he will be nearly back to 100%. Prior to his injury, Henry was every bit as efficient as Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce at the top of the league. Now that he is actually the starter and should see a major bump in targets, he may just leap into that top tight end tier.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
I will not be drafting Tyler Boyd this season. His ADP is a bit too high for the third option in an Andy Dalton offense. A.J. Green is back, Mixon will get his touches...and I expect John Ross to at least take a small step forward this season. If you like Boyd then you better be drafting Andy Dalton, because the only way Boyd pays off his ADP is if Dalton goes off.Hunter Henry will return from a torn ACL he suffered last summer. Unlike players who suffered that injury during the season, Henry will be 100% to start the year. Henry put together two decent seasons before the injury, serving as both a receiving option and a red zone threat, even while Gates was still with the team. With Gates now long gone, Henry should be the teams top red zone option. This is also an offense that loves to throw the football. In 2017 they ranked 6th and 3rd in passing TD's and yards respectively. Last season those numbers were 8th and 11th. The Chargers have seemingly drawn the short straw on injuries in each of the past three seasons. In 2016 Keenan Allen tore his ACL, in 2017 Mike Williams injured his back and was limited to just one start, then Henry tore his ACL last season. At least for now, The Chargers offense is fully healthy. The core of Gordon/Allen/Henry/Williams is one of the best in the league, so they should be amongst the league leaders in TD's scored. While that's a positive for Henry (top red zone option on a top scoring offense), the plethora of options does mean that there will be some down weeks for all of these players. There are so many mouths to feed that sometimes they are going to under perform. At the end of the day, Henry is a top TE option, and someone I'd target in the middle rounds.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Boyd had a breakout year with 1,026 yards receiving and 7 receiving touchdowns. He should be a WR3 with upside in a new offense this year. The nice thing about Henry playing in the playoffs is that we know he is healthy and he will be available for all OTA activities. Henry should bounce back as a TE1 coming off the ACL injury in May last year.
