| Derek Brown FantasyPros | Combine hype hero Christian Watson lands in Green Bay with the opportunity to become Aaron Rodgers' new bae. The athleticism is a known commodity for Watson as he is sporting a 98th percentile speed score and 95th percentile burst score. Marrying Watson's immediate YAC ability with Rodgers will be a nice pairing. Watson has finished 12th, seventh, and 17th in the last three seasons in YAC per reception (among FCS and FBS wide receivers, minimum 50 targets per PFF). | Last season, Van Jefferson showed some life, finishing with a career-high 802 receiving yards and six scores as the WR41 in fantasy points per game. Jefferson should reprise his field-stretching role for the Rams this year on the outside opposite Allen Robinson. Last year Jefferson was 11th in aDOT, but with a route win rate ranked 91st, his ceiling games will be scattered despite Matthew Stafford's proclivity for going deep. |
| Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | The worst-case scenario with Christian Watson is that he becomes Marques Valdez-Scantling in the Green Bay Packers offense. The elite athleticism and big-play ability present a sky-high ceiling as Aaron Rodgers' future WR1, but a lack of refinement and focus drops reveal a somewhat scary floor. MVS' 73-target rookie season in 2018 is the most a first-year WR has ever earned from Rodgers, which further bolsters the case for a Valdes-Scantling floor for Watson. Davante Adams led that team with 169 targets. Either way, he's worth a middle-to-backend Round 1 pick in rookie drafts. The opportunity he could see from Day 1 amid a lackluster receiving corps of Sammy Watkins, Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers is salivating. | Van Jefferson Jr. didn't necessarily take off during his second season, but he earned the trust of the coaching staff to earn a near every-down role - unhead at the position for a No. 3 wide receiver. Jefferson finished 20th in route participation (86%) and should maintain that high-end usage heading into the 2022 season. In that role last season, Jefferson finished as WR35 overall on the season and outside the top 40 in points per game. The Rams vertical threat is the rare WR handcuff that would see his production spike should an injury occur to either Cooper Kupp or Allen Robinson. |
