Ryan Tannehill may still need surgery

Miami Dolphins beat writer Adam Beasley reports head coach Adam Gase "doesn't have an answer" on whether or not quarterback Ryan Tannehill (knee) needs "major reconstructive surgery" on his injured knee this offseason. "We're still going through that process with our trainers ... how strong is the knee?" Gase said Wednesday. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Although Tannehill returned to practice last Friday, his playing status for the Divisional Round of the Playoffs remained up in the air and unlikely. However, the Dolphins were eliminated from the postseason by the Steelers Sunday, and now the team must focus on their franchise quarterback's health for 2017. Tannehill suffered a "slight tear" of his ACL and a Grade 2 MCL sprain in Week 14 against the Cardinals, which ended his season. At this point, the team and the signal caller must decide on whether or not major surgery is necessary on the knee. If it is, Tannehill will likely be sidelined for most of the offseason.
