Tony Romo likely to be released this offseason

by Anthony Cervino | Wed, Jan 18th 3:25pm EST

ESPN's Todd Archer believes the Dallas Cowboys will release quarterback Tony Romo this offseason. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

In a perfect world, the Cowboys will be able to trade Romo for draft picks. However, due to his massive contract -- with three years remaining and a $24.7 million cap hit in 2017 -- he will likely be released with a post-June 1 designation. Romo, barring an unforeseen change in events, will either retire or line up under center in a new city in 2017.
