LeGarrette Blount to test free agent market

by Anthony Cervino | Wed, Jan 18th 4:19pm EST

ESPN's Mike Reiss believes the New England Patriots will pursue a "dynamic" running back this offseason. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

LeGarrette Blount, whose contract will expire at the conclusion of the postseason, is coming off of a career year. He rushed for 1,161 yards and 18 touchdowns -- including four games of at least 100-yards rushing -- while playing in all 16 games in 2016. Because of his monster year, he'll command top running back money in free agency, which the Patriots will not be inclined to pay for a 30-year-old rusher. Look for New England to address to running back position via the NFL Draft or bring in a notable name like Adrian Peterson at a discount. Minnesota is expected to release Peterson this offseason due to his massive contract. Peterson is due $11.75 million, plus, a $6 million roster bonus in 2017.
