Ty Montgomery limited to three carries, suffers rib injury

by Brad Richter | Mon, Jan 23rd 8:42am EST

Ty Montgomery rushed three times for 17 yards and caught 1-of-3 passes for two yards in the Packers 44-21 loss in the NFC Championship game to the Falcons. Montgomery left the game in the third quarter with a rib injury.

Fantasy Impact:

Montgomery had an interesting season for the Packers, starting the year as a wide receiver and ending it as their primary running back. He had some bright spots as a running back including a 162-yard rushing performance against the Bears in Week 15 but only reached double-digit carries three times and lacked consistency running the ball. While he will likely not be the primary running back for the Packers next season, look for them to continue to use him in a dual RB/WR role. It will be interesting to see what position fantasy sites will have him available for next season. If he has dual position eligibility he could make for a nice bench option to cover bye weeks.
