Antonio Brown, Steelers begin contract talks

by Anthony Cervino | Sat, Feb 4th 6:12pm EST

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Pittsburgh Steelers and wide receiver Antonio Brown have already begun discussions on a new long-term contract extension. The team insider added that the two sides are "optimistic" that a new deal could be agreed upon "well before" training camp. (Jeremy Fowler on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Brown, who is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, is poised to be paid like he is this offseason. As Bengals wideout A.J. Green is currently the highest paid receiver in the game at $15 million per year, Brown's new deal is primed to exceed that dollar amount on a per season basis. For the past two offseasons, Brown has restructured his contract for the benefit of the team. However, this time around, he will be rewarded for his consistent, elite play that he's showcased since the 2013 campaign. Brown has caught at least 106 targets for 1,284 yards receiving and eight touchdowns in each of the past four seasons while only missing one game in that span. The aforementioned missed game was in the 2016 season finale in which he was inactive for rest purposes.
